I definitely feel you on this one, but with some of these castings, and Mando's mission to get the Child to the Jedi, I can see a few different ways the characters that have been rumored would help Mando on his quest. For example, it's possible he goes to Mandolore to learn about his people's history with the Jedi, meets Lady Bo-Katan, and she directs him to one of the few Jedi (or citizens) she knows of, Ahsoka Tano. And that Mandalorian blacksmith told him the Jedi uses Force as Socerery that she probably doesn't know the name was called the Force.
@Some Guy 99 i don't, because that means that baby yoda was accidently killed in luke's jedi academy. Because spoiler alert! The jedi temple was destroyed by an unknown force storm that is strongely implied to be palpatine, but ben solo took the blame.
I disagree, mando could be have basically taken bobas spot as top bounty hunter after the scarlacc incident, so boba has a vendetta, not to mention the fact that boba wears mandalorian armor but isn’t truly a mandalorian
My fool's hope is that Ahsoka, Sabine and Rex will appear only in one episode to take Baby Yoda out of the show so we can focus more on the Mandalorians; Bo Katan only appears in a flashback where she gets killed in single combat by Moff Gideon; and Boba appears as an ally from time to time, but stays a secondary character. But knowing Filoni, none of those things will ever happen.
What I really loved about Season 1 was how authentic (Star Wars buzzword, I know) it felt. When they described it as the creators just "playing with their action figures" it really came across like that and I think that gave The Mandalorian a really unique feel and something that felt really fresh. I hope that Season 2 feel just the same. I hope it continues to capture the parts of Star Wars that the directors and actors and creators really love because you can tell that their passion really shone through in the first season.
From the show, I want new things, more exploration and keep me surprise (even if I see it a mile away, don’t worry, I’ll be surprised). And more Baby Yoda. Fandom wise? I better start seeing fanfiction of Din finding BB!Rey and BB!Finn and going “Okay, I’m a single dad of three force sensitive kids.”
In my opinion, the first three episodes were the best. The others varied from "ugh" to "they could've done that better," so regardless of the characters that might show up, I just want the same feelings we got for the first three episodes 🤞
Yeah I’m concerned with the nostalgia aspect. What I enjoyed most about the show was that it was like a spaghetti western and had a small scale yet good story with new characters. The Cobb Vanth character would fit the show perfectly so I’m excited to see him. They are going to be have to be careful with how they integrate Boba but I’m worried about the Ahsoka episode unless they pull it off
I agree. As neat as it would be to have Ahsoka, Sabine, or even Rex show up, I don’t think it would service the story of The Mandalorian in any real way. Ahsoka and Sabine already have a mission we haven’t seen the end of, and I’d much rather the objective of finding Ezra be pursued in another show of some kind (hopefully animated) than have it cross with Mando’s story. It would take away focus from Mando and his quest to find The Child’s home (something which is already pretty freaking cool since we’ve never seen the “Yoda species” home world in any media before). I could maybe see them working Bobs Fett into the storyline, since he’s arguably more connected to the show, even if his actual Mandalorian heritage is questionable in the new canon. If he isn’t an actual Mandalorian, they could still do a lot with that, especially if he becomes a primary antagonist for Season 2. Maybe something about how he’s disrespecting their culture. Regardless, I hope they know what they’re doing.
I have the same fear with adding soooo many familiar faces. However, the one that I’m excited for is Boba Fett. He’s a character that is always eye-catching on screen. We got some of his backstory in the clone wars and I thought it was great. But I’m very interested to see the type of person Boba has become after alllll these years. It’ll also be cool to see how clever and experienced he is, and possibly how ruthless he can be
Star Wars is a universe of fan fiction, a lot of Star Wars creators are fans of Star Wars and so they insert their favorite things and what they want to see inside. Mandalorian season 1 are was already fanfic as can be with Mando himself being two steps away from being a Boba Fett OC, now the story has come full circle with Boba Fett coming into the story.
I think the only "familiar" characters I'd like to see in it would be Rey's parents, like maybe have an episode where he meets them on the run, provides transportation, and there's tension on whether or not either side is trustworthy
I think its fine to bring in existing characters if it legitimately serves the story. The problem is when you get too much of stuff like Episode 5 of Season 1 where they went to Tatooine, saw pit droids, went to the cantina, etc because... IDK why. There was no real reason that planet needed to be Tatooine and it felt like it was just thrown in because they thought fans would like it. (That being said I did legit love the bit with the Tusken’s) If he meets up with Ahsoka or Bo-Katan because it genuinely ties into the story of him and the child then I’m totally good with that. I can see genuine story based reasons for bringing in Boba Fett. If they could readily replace any of these characters roles with a new different character that’s when it starts to get unnecessary IMO. I think it just all depends on how they are creating the story, and on how its executed.
I trust the crew being this show, Dave Filoni, Jon Favreau, Taika Watiti, and pretty much everyone that worked on it. If they want to bring Boba back as a cameo or go all in and have him be the antagonist, I trust their judgement.
I haven't finished Mandalorian season 1 yet, love what I've seen so far. But soon as I heard Michael Biehn was cast for season 2, I'm just excited. And I'm not just saying that cuz I love his roles in Terminator, Aliens, and other movies. He's an awesome actor, his directorial debut The Victim is an awesome love-letter to grindhouse films, and I look forward to what he brings to Star Wars, no matter the size of his role.
The thing with boba fett coming back is that I had a feeling that was going to happen from the beginning, I didn’t know the extent but it just felt like there would at least be some mention of him.
I see your point and I’d like to see the Mandalorian stand on it’s own. I do see the Boba Fett appearance coming and with the ending in episode 5 of season 1 because of the spur sounds and wearing Mandalorian armor. The Ahsoka part is probably from a bussines sense by Disney/Lucasfilm to market the animated shows to the mainstream audience. I see bo Katan tying into more of the darksaber appearance.
Meh, I expect some fan service but I trust Filoni to put story and character first even if this does grow into a larger scale story. And that’s kind of inevitable because Darksaber.
As long as it's well done, I am all for it. I also want the focus to be on Mando, the child and Moff Gideon. But with Filoni on board, Im not worried. Saw Guerrera in Rogue One and Fallen order was well executed. Maul is the best example of this. He was great on every single project from the Disney era.
I just hope that the storyline moves a lot faster than in the first season. It started to get a bit repetitive towards the middle and really we still don’t know anything about the child! You could easily skip about 3 episodes in the first season and it not matter... which is fine if there were more eps in the season.
I think it was always inevitable that we'd see familiar on this show. It was good of them to establish the new characters 1st. That said, I don't think familiar faces will take over. I can see them passing through but their stories will be their own on some other show. I'm talking Ahsoka and Boba
I didn't watch your video (sorry) but the title caught my eye. Don't be scared for season 2 (I'm assuming you're part of the production company)... It will be great I'm sure all your hard work will pay off and there's no need for fear : )
My guess is they won't continue the show after season 3, they'll probably wanna keep the seasons as a trilogy in conjunction with the movies and honestly...I feel like there's only so much they can do with a bounty hunter and a baby anyway, without it getting repetitive.
I think Sabine would fit best since she's actually a Mandalorian. She doesn't have to be in every episode, but with the other Mandalorians here and there.
I honestly think Boba needs a bit more in this canon. I like his character so far, based on the clone wars, and I want to see more of who he is. I’m fine with him showing up for a bit in Mando s2 if it serves both the titular character and Fett. The other characters, we have seen plenty of so far, so either keep them out of the show or divert them to a new series apart from this show.
I totally agree. In a galaxy with quadrillions of beings, focusing on the story of one family is stupid, no matter how exceptional they might be. Bounty hunter stories are just one possibility. I’m currently reading the XWing series from the old EU. This would make a fantastic series on Disney+. Wouldn’t have to focus on Wedge and Rogue Squadron, either. Following a squadron on its adventures would be awesome.
I agree with all of this. However, how ******* cool would it be if there was a Mark Hamill cameo where we saw him deaged for a scene or two or something. So long as stuff like that is not overdone I think it will be just fine.
As far as balancing new and old, I'd LOVE if they adapted EU story arcs into animated films for Disney+, similar to what DC does for it's animated films. It would bring back in old fans whose years of dedication to SW was wiped away, and it would be a completely fresh story for people who never gave the EU a shot.
The reason the sequels failed was because the characters really could not stand on their own without the constant callbacks, references and characters to previous movies. The Mandalorian S1 did not have this problem and actually gave us characters that ARE INTERESTING and CAN stand on their own. It’d be a shame to see the story be hijacked by characters we’re already all too familiar with now. Imo, they should’ve stopped at Boba Fett.
I agree with HG once again. I think ‘The Mandalorian’ works better as a stand-alone story instead of working in many familiar characters into the story.
I mean well tbf... it all DOES make sense to have boba in there. After all... boba is like one of the most notable and important mandos ever so it makes sense.
The issue is that in the NU canon, Boba isn't even a Mandalorian anymore. Neither is Jango. NU Jango is just a mercenary who happened to have armor of Mandalorian design.
Can’t old characters be brought back with changes rather than being exactly like we remember them though? I feel like Rebels did that with Ashoka and Rex. The newness came not from the characters themselves but what they had developed into.
That's my favorite thing about star wars is seeing main characters from one series become cameos or side characters in other stories. It adds to it and make the whole universe feel complete but i would agree if they made Ashoka or Boba main characters in the mando it would be a little lame
Same feelings. I don't want it to turn into fan service. I don't mind a distant reference or pass-throughs. That galaxy far, far away seems smaller and smaller when everyone knows everyone. I like the thought that Jedi seem foreign to the people in the Mandalorian. News and information should move slowly and maybe be inaccurate. Any interaction with known characters should be natural and unforced, brief, and without undue reverence. If you told your average citizen of the Empire/New Republic that The Emperor's right hand was a former slave that married a former queen they should look at you like you have three heads instead of two.
Everything we liked as kids will be remade and repurposed to capitalize on our nostalgia because pursuing new ideas is risky and the ones who hold the purse strings would rather exploit our fandom than give us something new.
I honestly don’t care if they use fan service. As long as they don’t change the characters and make a good new story, unlike a certain movie... I’d love to see Boba, Luke, Ashoka, Bossk, Dengar, IG-88, 4-LOM, Zuckuss, and more. Obviously not all of these characters in one season or anything, and they have to be very careful not to go too far.
I am fearful of season 2 as well, the show needs to continue and be fresh and original, that's what star wars needs and what will keep fans and newcomers interested, nostalgia didn't work during the sequel trilogy and it won't work with this show either, keep the mandilorian fresh and focused and introduce new characters
I would honestly be ok with Boba making an appearance in an episode or two. It would be cool to see how Mando would react to seeing that the Mandalorian pretender still lives. The others (Ahsoka, Rex, Sabine and Bo Katan) I really don’t want to see much of. Cameos and small roles would be ideal, but I would be ok with seeing them for 1 episode max. They just don’t really fit in the show, IMO. Yes, I know Mando MIGHT be seeking out force users, but I just don’t want to see Ahsoka have a big role. I would rather a new Jedi character that survived the Purge.
I See your point. But as i heard of ashoka i aint felt unkomfortabel. I predict she wont be in that much epidodes and will be introduced in a way, that brings mystery within. A the mandalorian way. Fans of her clone wars Charakter will probaly have goosebumbs yes, but what he get to see is hopefully a mystical alien lady that will fit in the show better than u think. Fett could be a bigger frustration, but also doesnt have to. I can not imagine they wont always have epidodes with completly new stuff. All they have to do is find a good balance. 35% old story 65% new adventures could sound good for me. But yes, Maybe they will blow it. Season 2 will be an imoortant season for the future of the show. Greetings from Germany 😘😘
For season 2 I could do without the SNL skits and comedians who *clearly* aren't actors. Making stormtroopers comic relief completely undercuts the original trilogy, like Obi-Wan telling Luke how dangerous and elite they are. It's inconsistent and a misguided attempt at fan service.
The best Star Wars stories are the ones that break away from the influences of the original trilogy. Knights of the Old Republic, The Mandalorian, to name a couple.
Handing over the story to the new characters and letting the old ones take a back seat, is a very big part in why the sequels are so hated by everyone and why they lost half its audience from ep 7 to ep 9
As long as a they focus on telling a good story and have a good reason to have characters like Ahsoka, Rex and Boba Fett and not just for fan service then we are good.
Yeah I like that it's a western style I really don't want it to get a bunch of jedi stuff mixed in We have the movies for all of that I loved seeing them get into the things like Jawas and that terrifying looking AT-ST but I would like to see more original characters as it goes on and they have done a great job of blending old and new
I just hope they use the old characters well, instead of for nostalgia. Like, I want Boba Fett and Rex here, but there has to be a purpose to them. Like, Moff Gideon hires Boba Fett to hunt down the Mandalorian and The Child. Or, Rex and Ashoka help Din understand the Yoda species. I just hope it’s done right.
I’m worried because Disney already hurt Boba and Jango for me by taking their Mando title off of them and the Jango Fett Bounty Hunter story not cannon really pissssssssed me off 😡 I don’t want to see this show go down in flames like the new movies
Boba Fett being in the series is something which I think could work, since he's not a Mandalorian and is basically wearing stolen armour. That could create an interesting conflict/rivalry and he would be easy to reintroduce and explain. Bo-Katan can be easily explained in the series as well and can easily fit. The rest not so much, they will need long explanations as to who they are and where they come from (Ahsoka will be really difficult to do without raising a lot of eyebrows, with her being the apprentice to Anakin and all). Personally, I feel that characters like Rex and Ahsoka have no business being in this story, especially Ahsoka, who I feel really should have died on Malachor if I'm being honest and Rex, who I feel should have just died during Order 66. Their stories are played out and at this point it feels like they should just be retired.
I feel like Sabine and bobba should be in the show eventually two of the biggest mandolorins can be in a show about mandolorins I think but everyone I agree might feel like throw ins
If I’m honest, I would rather have Mark Hamill show up as Luke. Disney has the tech and money to “de-age” him for an episode or two. Heck, Mark is a voice actor. Have a clone-wars-like animated series about him between episodes 6 and 7 instead of more between 3 and 4. Mark is almost 70, so we only have a little more time with him as Luke Skywalker. I want more Luke before Hamill dies. Disney really only gave us one movie with Luke, which the majority either loved or hated. Ahsoka has several seasons. Don’t get it twisted, I love my girl, Ahsoka. I just wish the poster boy of Star Wars got the same amount of development instead of the sudden shift from “hopeful and optimistic youth” to “tired and depressed old man”. Show me that journey!!!
Thus far, Favreau hasn't betrayed my trust, so I will continue to have faith in his understanding around what was wrong with so much of Disney Star Wars and move away from that.
Fan service should always be kept to a minimum but I can only hope that they weave it into something grand
star wars explained said it best there has to be balance
What if the Mandalorian actually is a Gungan since it was foreshadowed in the 6th ep

Nods. I totally agree! I like the aspect of discovering what's going over "here" while the characters we already know and love are busy over "there".
(That being said I did legit love the bit with the Tusken’s)
If he meets up with Ahsoka or Bo-Katan because it genuinely ties into the story of him and the child then I’m totally good with that. I can see genuine story based reasons for bringing in Boba Fett. If they could readily replace any of these characters roles with a new different character that’s when it starts to get unnecessary IMO. I think it just all depends on how they are creating the story, and on how its executed.
the reason it's Tatooine is because Boba will be there and also it's hive of scum and villainy, everyone knows about Tatooine
I trust the crew being this show, Dave Filoni, Jon Favreau, Taika Watiti, and pretty much everyone that worked on it. If they want to bring Boba back as a cameo or go all in and have him be the antagonist, I trust their judgement.
Boba Fett is fine for me, but I feel like people like Ahsoka and Rex should’ve been put in their own series
same
I'd rather they didn't introduce preexisting characters but as long as the story is still interesting then it won't stop me liking it
Boy, do I feel like this season is already living up to your fears stated here, and mine 😓
The thing with boba fett coming back is that I had a feeling that was going to happen from the beginning, I didn’t know the extent but it just felt like there would at least be some mention of him.
your welcome greedo im glad to be a part of the discord community
I've got faith in the creators that The Mandalorian Season 2 is gonna be great. Fear is the path to the Dark Side, HelloGreedo!
It is only my opinion, but i think Boba and Ahsoka will not lead the main Arc just will be sidequests for Mando and crew
I honestly feel throwing in Ashoka, Rex, and Boba Fett is mostly just fan service and doesn't actually need to be in star wars
It would be cool to see these characters as cameos, but it would be fitting for the series if they became main characters in season 2 and beyond
I agree with HG once again. I think ‘The Mandalorian’ works better as a stand-alone story instead of working in many familiar characters into the story.
I mean well tbf... it all DOES make sense to have boba in there. After all... boba is like one of the most notable and important mandos ever so it makes sense.
and he’s not even a Mandalorian
The issue is that in the NU canon, Boba isn't even a Mandalorian anymore. Neither is Jango. NU Jango is just a mercenary who happened to have armor of Mandalorian design.
He isn't a Mando tho and Boba got eaten. Deal with it.
its bullshit that Jango isn't a mando, they better confirm he is in season 2
Can’t old characters be brought back with changes rather than being exactly like we remember them though? I feel like Rebels did that with Ashoka and Rex. The newness came not from the characters themselves but what they had developed into.
I do t think this will come out too good tbh. I think that it’s including too much, and it might get overwhelming
My biggest fear: That someone forces me to watch it.
As long as the story is good and well told, I really don’t care what direction it goes in or how different it is from season one
Concur. BTW, is that a poster for "Marooned" behind you?
The 2 biggest reasons why The Mandalorian was so popular 1. New everything. 2. The Child
Sounding a little bit like a broken record now Greedo.
We get it, you don’t like seeing familiar faces lol
How dare Star Wars acknowledge what it already established!
And we haven't even got the trailer so there's no need to worry at the moment.
Ethan Isgrove bruh he's been crying about "fan service" for years now. It's really annoying
They should portray Boba as EU Accurate like in the Legacy of the Force Books, with Him Eventually be granted the title of "Mandalore".
These expectations are the reason why The Mandalorian Season 2 might disappoint you.
@Nagger This Boba is different from his OT Counterpart, Filoni & Team SHOULD Portray Boba like how THE LOF Book portray him.
@Nagger Screw Lucas' Ego, Boba should be portrayed the way Karen Traviss depicts him.
That's my favorite thing about star wars is seeing main characters from one series become cameos or side characters in other stories. It adds to it and make the whole universe feel complete but i would agree if they made Ashoka or Boba main characters in the mando it would be a little lame
I hate that, it makes the galaxy seem alot smaller
i want R5-D4 to show up...but, i can think of what would motivate him to do so....
I hope there is SOME fan service but i hope they don't overload it though. Just mix a little old with enough new to make it awesome
One of my favourite things about the show was how different and unique it felt, agree with what you're saying here
Same feelings.
Everything we liked as kids will be remade and repurposed to capitalize on our nostalgia because pursuing new ideas is risky and the ones who hold the purse strings would rather exploit our fandom than give us something new.
when is the blu ray of it coming out
"Your focus determines your reality." Focus on the good stuff! 😊 #HelloGreedo #StarWars #TheMandalorian
Glad to see someone I agree with. I don’t mind having 1 or 2 characters appearing if they have a really minor role.
Hey Greedo do you think Disney will ever let me own this series on blu ray? I got shit Wi-Fi and can't stream out in boonies
Boba and maybe Bo Katan should be the only familars to show up
I See your point.
35% old story
65% new adventures
could sound good for me.
But yes, Maybe they will blow it.
Season 2 will be an imoortant season for the future of the show.
Greetings from Germany 😘😘
I'm pretty much 100% of the same mindset. I do not want Ashoka, Rex, Boba Fett, anybody recognisable in this show.
3:27 facts lol
Yep
For season 2 I could do without the SNL skits and comedians who *clearly* aren't actors. Making stormtroopers comic relief completely undercuts the original trilogy, like Obi-Wan telling Luke how dangerous and elite they are. It's inconsistent and a misguided attempt at fan service.
Completely agree
The best Star Wars stories are the ones that break away from the influences of the original trilogy. Knights of the Old Republic, The Mandalorian, to name a couple.
Handing over the story to the new characters and letting the old ones take a back seat, is a very big part in why the sequels are so hated by everyone and why they lost half its audience from ep 7 to ep 9
As long as a they focus on telling a good story and have a good reason to have characters like Ahsoka, Rex and Boba Fett and not just for fan service then we are good.
In Filoni we trust.
100% agree! Keep the new coming!
I thought I was alone on this!
Yeah
I like that it's a western style
I really don't want it to get a bunch of jedi stuff mixed in
We have the movies for all of that
I loved seeing them get into the things like Jawas and that terrifying looking AT-ST but I would like to see more original characters as it goes on and they have done a great job of blending old and new
Song in the background?
One thing I loved about the show was how self-contained it was. I'm not sure how I feel about Ahsoka and Boba Fett being included.
Agree with the caution, but we might just be over pessimistic of established characters because of the sequels. It doesn’t have to be bad.
If you took a drink every time HelloGreedo has told us he wants something new we would be in a coma now ;)
As long as the storytelling continues it's strong course I have no issues with anything mentioned. I have spoken.
I am hoping that the returning characters are used for flavoring, and just don’t become the entire dish.
I really don't care for Boba to pop up, Asoka maybe in small way.
Well...
Yep…
I feel like Sabine and bobba should be in the show eventually two of the biggest mandolorins can be in a show about mandolorins I think but everyone I agree might feel like throw ins
I know this channel so well i knew what his fear was before i even watched this
If I’m honest, I would rather have Mark Hamill show up as Luke.
Agree! Too many memberberries will ruin The Mandalorian
Very true! The Star Wars universe is, literal and figuratively, massive. We don't need the same reoccurring characters in every storyline.
Thus far, Favreau hasn't betrayed my trust, so I will continue to have faith in his understanding around what was wrong with so much of Disney Star Wars and move away from that.
