    You’ve inadvertently catapulted them to #1 for me. No crowds, no stupid parking costs/rules/struggles, decent snowfall, open cruisers, and realistic ticket prices. No day of skiing is worth the hassle of the well-known resorts to me…it’s like putting myself in city traffic on purpose and paying extra for the pleasure. As you are an expert boarder, though, I can see how the terrain here would be lacking for you. Despite your negatives being positives for me, I like your matter-of-fact style of reviewing. Thanks!

      Eagle point near Beaver UT is even more low key and chill than Brian Head.

    This is a fair assessment! I’ve lived in cedar for 8 years and Brian head has become my home resort. It’s not the biggest or the best but everyone is always pretty awesome there and I love getting a season pass and not having to sell a kidney to buy it. Love my resort and glad you got to experience it, Hope to get you back soon!🤙🏼

    Dan, I’m a skier in colorado but I watch all of your videos! Your film work and cinematography is some of the best on youtube in the snowboard industry. I love getting your input and conditions on utah resorts sense I try to make a trip every year. This winter should be a excellent one. Keep up the incredible hard work🤘

    This is an accurate, fair review of Brian Head. I skied it for the first time in April 2024, after a trip to Alta, Snowbird and Snowbasin. The terrain doesn't compare to the SLC resorts, but lift tickets were only $19, with a $10 resort credit. My guess was that were less than 200 people skiing/riding the days I was there. My wife enjoyed the beginner area (Navajo), I enjoyed Giant Steps. No lines, no hassles, decent snow, high base elevation, low lift ticket prices, even the lodging was reasonably priced. It was really a throwback to a simpler time.
    I'm going to try to ski Brian Head during the winter of 2024-2025. I live in Orange County, California, so it is a natural stop on my way back from SLC.

    I worked full time in Brian head for 3 seasons. The old timers had a saying “ski the dirt with Burt” as one of the founders of the resort opened early back in the day too, sometimes with dirt still on the runs.

    I have family that has a place close by so I've snowboarded here a couple times before. Honestly, even though it does lack a variety of terrain, it is a fun spot to ride mainly due to no crowds(I never waited in line). If you are someone that is just breaking into the intermediate range of boarding, this is a great spot to be able to do runs from the top and experience decent snow. The roads do get treacherous in snowy conditions at night. Had a scary experience driving up in the night on a massive blizzard that brought three feet of snow in 48 hours. Do not drive in overnight if it's coming down, there is little to no plowing and it is impossible to see. Took an hour and a half to drive 10 miles do to inching along and constantly getting out and walking to see where the next turn was.

    Honestly I love Brian Head. For me skiing in CA mostly, the resort feels different with the views and the drier snow. Great pricing too so I can justify making the long drive out there each winter. It would definitely be my local hill if I lived in Vegas or St. George.

      What do you mean by drier snow?

    • @randyhou8522
      @randyhou8522 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ericaguirre8188 The difference between California snow and Utah snow if massive. They don't call it Sierra cement for nothing, and that holds true for Tahoe, Mammoth or anywhere else. The snow at Brian head is so light and powdery in comparison that it's a total game changer for me.

    So you wanna ski/board down #8 to lift #1 take that up and ski/board down either Navajo or another trail leading to the Navajo lodge you can also reverse this and take #4 up ski/board down the kodachrome trail or another adjacent one and across the ski bridge over the road and parking lot. To get back to chair #8 and use the traverse area to get to trails that can take you down to giant steps lodge. you should honestly only need to unstrap to get on the next lift taking those. It's faster and funner than the shuttle. But the shuttle is free if you need to use it. It runs only in winter
    Basically everything you buy from food to the general store has a "shuttle tax" its charged year round and that's how the shuttles are maintained and kept "free" for everyone. This is possible because we also have a great summer season here with lots of campers, mountain bikers, festivals etc.
    Frankly idk how you had to walk through a parking lot bc chair 1 is on the same side as chair 8. You really only take the bridge when your going down a trail from chair 1 and need to cross the ski bridge to get to a lift.
    Should be obv but im pretty local to Brain Head 🧠 area.
    If you want to see those rock formations you may consider doing backcountry past the ski-bridge up towards cedar breaks. The road closes before cedar breaks national monument so expect to be snowshoeing or cross country skiing in winter. Or you can always rent a snowmobile thunder mountain is great for that. You'd get views of what is basically a mini bryce canyon it's the same rock formation [claron] [for my rock nerds] and features the hoodoos you would see if you drove another hour and half to bryce. It's well worth exploring both in winter and summer.
    I know some folks who have skied down the brian head peak it's back country but you could technically do so.
    I'd definitely agree it doesn't have the technical terrain you are probably looking for within easy access of a lift. But overall it's a chill place. It's affordable and it's very recent that the resort went from "mom and pop" to being under mountain capital partners. Everyone is still somewhat settling from that change.
    And a lot of the business on the mountain are all mom and pop. It's a very tight knit community bc if I remember correctly there's only 80ish full time residents. And bc it isn't as big as the northern Utah resorts it remains a great resort to learn at and to relax at without some of the other frustrations you'd find at other resorts.

    I was at Brian Head yesterday. My last trip of last season was Park City. I think you get what you pay for. Yeah, it’s not quite as cool down south. But they just go harder up north. The lift tickets reflect that. I’m just a weekend boarder so I’m not buying any season passes. $250 for park city is pretty steep compared to the $90 I paid yesterday at Brian Head. And free parking lol. It got my fix in for now.

    • @BoredProgression
      @BoredProgression  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah, the day pass prices are stupid at PC, despite the amount of terrain offered. This is much more reasonable. Glad you had a good time!

    Hey man, i just subscribed. I liked the videos also i noticed you respond a lot to the comments. As your channel gets bigger i know that will be harder to do, but i like the effort. If you want to gain momentum on your channel I recommend once or twice a year doing meet-ups. Viewers love to meet and ski with celebrities. Your also a good snowboarder, you ever teach or hold camps? Good money for you and you can sell your merchandise. Maybe I'll even stop by. Good luck to you!

    Stay in cedar city. Its about a 40 min drive to brian head, they got a bunch of cheap hotels with breakfast included and a small college town so options for dinner. They have a solid pizzeria called centro woodfired that is a mandatory stop for us when we r out there
