I don’t think it’s a villain arc. If you put eight people in an arena and poison all of them, with each having one of the required ingredients for an antidote, if one of them kills the others in order to survive there is enough moral gray zone to prevent a definitive villain label imo. Granted in this case the analogy has to be scaled up to the millions or perhaps billions, but it’s still a matter of kill everyone else (and their worlds) or you (and your world) die. Edit: To clarify, it’s definitely not the “we are heroes” vibe from the singularity chapters. I’m not saying that killing everyone else to ensure one’s own survival is a morally upstanding decision, just that coercion (The Foreign God is coercing Ritsuka) and securing one’s own safety prevent a full blown villain label from being justified in my opinion.

What I want to see in Ordeal Call (where the JP server is now) is Novum Chaldea gaining a new identity as Lostbelt: Beast VII, the destroyer of failed worlds, and being forced to come to terms with that fact before they can enter the airspace of their home in Antarctica. For those of you who may not remember, the Foreign God appeared briefly at the end of Lostbelt 5 with the class signal of "Beast VII", whom we were completely unprepared to fight. However, she was driven back by Kirschtaria Wodime's Sirius-Light-enhanced meteor spell that came at the cost of his life. My god, finally! Someone else that shares my headcanon! Yes, Chaldea meets all the qualifications to be Beast VII. A monster born from human origin, who destroys humanity despite loving humanity. Lostbelts tho are literally parallel timelines where things got messed up at some point and those timelines have progressed on their own for THOUSANDS of years, and we don’t have the choice to simply go back in time and cut the problem at its roots, no, we are literally killing a whole other developed history so that ours can survive.
