Sorrentino thanked Maradona because he saved is life when he was a kid someway. He was supposed to go on holyday with his parents when he was 16. He pushed them to let him go to Empoli to see Maradona and Napoli, they let him go and that night they died in the house while they were sleeping due to a carbon monoxide leak.

This is Italy's 14th Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film!

"i have Fellini's 8 1/2 is that good of a film ??" Are you kidding??? 8 1/2 is one of the best movies ever made in the history of cinema, with Federico Fellini being one of the greatest movie directors ever. Before getting into 8 1/2, which may feel a bit "strange", try to have a look at his earlier movies, like, for example, Cabiria's Night. Then, you MUST watch La Dolce Vita, from which Sorrentino's Great Beauty takes A LOT of inspiration. Then go to 8 1/2. You will notice that Fellini loved to play with unconventional narrative choices. His movies are not just about "the beginning-the plot-the end", they are more unstructured and focus more on the study of the character. They are extremely modern movies. They are timeless, really.

I see the film and I think it is beautiful. Why? Because in the silence that prevails, it's so deep. So I thinki that not everyone can understand it, if they don't stop to have a shallow vision of everything. No one can understand the art. It's like looking a painting. There are someone that sees only lines and colours, and other that see what there is behind the lines and colors. The true message, the emotions.
