    I used to want to write him a letter and say just humble yourself and surrender to God and things will turn around for you. Only God can do it. I am so happy for him and even more happy to see the man he has become. I’m even happier for his sons. I believe he was always a good Dad and I’m so happy that they have him home. 🙌🏾🙏🏾

    When to school with and had classes with Kwame at FAMU. He was also on the football team. Kwame was a good dude and a great student. I can only say what I know of him to be true. Ironically enough I also went to school with Ray Nagin (former Mayor of New Orleans) at Tuskegee Institute. Ray was the QB of our intermural football team (The Machine). We won the championship, undefeated, and Ray was a big reason. Another good dude who found himself mired in controversy.

    I remember watching the documentary American Greed- my first introduction to Kwame.

    This is the first time I heard him take some accountability. I do feel like he still deflected on some issues regarding the crimes, but it’s clear he’s done some good work on himself. I’ve regained some respect for him. I’m a former Detroiter and he also was my brother’s teacher at Marcus Garvey academy. Everyone deserves a second chance when they take accountability.

    Kwame was guilty, detroit has had black majors since the 80's and still has them, not one other major has been convicted of anything close to wjat kwame was. He also was pardoned by Donald trump and has of last week vauched for trump when he came to Detroit to talk to black Churches in the area, ol'boy is just running the trump script. Everyone in detroit knew he was giving out sweetheart contracts to people, not saying other majors didnt do the same thing but kwame was just so flagrant with it. Kinda disiponed with marks light ball interview. After kwame detroit was in one of the worst financial situation it ever saw. They sold off alot of schools and city property for pennies on the dollars, it was a realy bad time and kwame wasnt totally resposible but he did profits himself and his family and freinds on the backs of the citys residence. He didnt leave Detroit in a better way than when he joined it.

    Marc needs to get somebody Black from Detroit to respond to some of the things that Kwame has said. I was still living in my home of Detroit during both of his terms and there were many rumors about the things that Kwame and his crew did; the stripper party at the Mayor's Mansion in which one of the strippers died. She supposedly had a fight with Kwame's wife, whooped her ass and somehow she died after. There was the girlfriends he had while being married. As I said, these are rumors but it would be nice if he addressed them.

      I knew that stripper, Strawberry, cuz I picked her up a few times in a cab back in the day. She used to work a club on Livernois just North of Tireman. She was respectful and always tipped you a few bucks. Never cared about the politics of Detroit but could never understand why Kwamé destroyed Livernois Ave by building that dividing island that's not even finished to this day

    I still remember meeting him when he was running for mayor. I really looked up to him and all he was able to do for the city of Detroit. Detroit would not be what it is now without the implementation of the reorganization of downtown. It seems like if he had waited to grow up more he could have avoided this path. Good luck to him in his future endeavors.

    Great interview!!! Kwame 41:20 appears to have done some real soul searching. If he truly believes everything that he is saying, if he has a genuine relationship with God who has given him grace and paved the way for his redemption, then I hope that his actions will agree with his words.

    He got sidetracked real quick and never stopped, until Barbara McQuade stopped him. He used the City as a personal piggy bank and his wife and father joined in with both feet. No matter how he dress it up today, simply put "HE WAS A COMPLETE CROOK". He took Detroit back 20 years and never looked back. His arrogance and greed was always front and center. I see from this conversation he hasn't eaten enough humble pie!

      I do not even live in Detroit but I was in the Michigan area for Law school during that time but a good friend and Law Classmate of mine whose family was well connected got me interested in learning about him and she prophesied he was going to jail eventually. She knew why the cage bird sanged. I recall when they were doing the construction back then in Detroit in 2001 and gasoline was .97 cents per gallon and people, including me was complaining about it being too high.

    I voted twice for Kwame. Unfortunately for us in Detroit, Kwame Kilpatrick was the worst Mayor Detroit has ever had historically, He closed schools, stop services, committed crimes that caused some their lives. Now we have the very best Mayor Detroit has ever had historically, Mike Duggan, God bless him as he continues to raise Detroit. Detroit is starting to look great again.
