I've actually been watching Bitchinarian's Hilda react videos and I had also noticed that you both had been covering the same episodes at the same time for the last few. Also, I didn't realize Miriam Margoyles was the voice of Astrid which is interesting because she also plays one of the aunts in the live action/stop motion animated James And The Giant Peach movie from the 90s.
Hilda was 11 in Seasons 1, 2 and most of The Mountain King, 12 in The Mountain King epilogue, 13 in Season 3.
When I saw your last video I didn’t realize that Astrid was foreshadowed in the last episode until I watched your reaction
I remember how exited I was for when this season was out. Its realy fun seing how much everyone has grown up, even Twig is a big bigger and has longer antlers. Funfact you can also see Hilda and co slowy growing in season 2, and in The Mountain King you can hear David's voice start changing. Also love how much more chill and cool he is with bugs now.
Love the Pooka as well, his funny.
I will say the one sad thing about this season is that they cut out like 6 episodes, which is a real shame and you do notice it in some of the episodes. But oh well they did their best with what they had.
Re David's voice/height...
I totally get being taken aback. It's kind of like going to a family reunion and going 'holy crap, my nephew is almost half a foot taller.'
This season definitely has more of an overarching plot than the previous two, but at the same time, most episodes stand on their own pretty well.
While we don't spend a lot of time in Toferton, it occurs to me now that we don't spend a huge amount of time in Trollberg proper either...
Beyond that:
- Tontu warned in his first appearance that using Nisse Space to travel through the wilderness was dangerous. Definitely better to just buy a ticket.
- Not sure about the taxonomy in Hilda, but folklorically 'púca' are usually considered to be a type of faerie. If not, they're typically ghosts.
- Little turf monster was previously seen in, I believe, S02E01.
This season felt less episodic than the previous ones. I didn't expect the direction it took.
Also nice shoutout to Bitchinarian :) I've been watching them as well.
The Last of Us came out between The Mountain King and Season 3, so Bella Ramsey's career shot up during that time. So much so that Netflix decided to slap their name on the Season 3 trailer. It was great to see them get recognised by the general public as the fantastic actor I already knew they were from watching Hilda.
Miriam Margolyes is one of Britian's biggest stars. She's been in just about anything you could shake a stick at.
20:30 wow, that Johanna's line "I used to do that a lot as a girl, but I'd almost forgotten until then" hits different on the re-watch
btw, Astrid, why can't we see the tops of your ears? what are you hiding? are you a witch from the boiling isles?
