the next one is definitely a great episode, but I don't think it needed those extra few minutes. if any episode of this season deserves an extra run-time that would be "The Forgotten Lake" imho. my second favourite (right after the finale) episode of season 3. it's extremely emotional, really scary and also lore heavy
interesting that you mentioned the lingonberry/sweden thing. I feel like this show has a lot of swedish/Scandinavian elements. from many of the names (like Astrid, and towns ending with "berg"), and even just the general wholesome/nature vibe reminds me of a 90s show called Moomin (which i think is swedish).
I forget the Scandinavian name, but Astrid's pancakes looked closer to rösti or boxty than they do latkes though that could be due to the art style. Beyond that, however, this was very much a 'lore' episode where we got to learn more about Hilda's family, the faeries, and Toferton itself. I think you may have worked up the significance of 3x03's extended run-time in your own head. It's a good episode IMHO, but I don't really know if it *needed* the extra few minutes...
Fake spoiler: this world doesn’t exist and Hilda is actually in a coma and fairies are not real, same thing with Woff’s, giants, trolls, everything is fake
