the major ships they used are actually real ships. they constructed garp’s ship, the love duck (alvida’s), the red force (shanks’ ship), and the going merry. the baratie is also a real set they constructed.
MAN that's impressive. And no doubt costly. And I think subsequent seasons are only going ot get crazier. they're really counting on this making BANK. Not unduly either, i'm sure

This is one of the best live action adaptations of anything I've ever seen. When they played the OG theme song at the end of episode 4 as they sailed away on the Merry, I teared up. It was so surreal.
A lot of people missed it in the anime and manga but the marine that Kuro let live and take credit for "Capturing" him (his hypnotized lookalike) had his jaw broken and a recently amputated hand. Kuro technically *MADE* Axe-Hand Morgan.

Maybe it was a bit of a combination. Perhaps he really did badly injure his leg waving Sanji. However it was not nearly to the extent he would loose it... Having the injury though would regardless have been real bad when starving on a rock. Rather than have his body totally waste the energy trying to heal his leg... Well.

As someone who has never seen or even heard of this before recently. Someone who isn't into manga or anime at all, but loves fantasy and sci-fi, I watched this and loved it. I also very much loved watching y'all - who have seen it before and are into it watch it. I learned a little more than I knew before and got to watch it again.
Trust me when I say this, you’ve barely scratched the surface. The first season basically covered 8% of the series & the series is still ongoing. The series gets even bigger from there, especially with what Season 2 will cover. More pirate crews, more islands, more Warlords like Mihawk, & more Straw Hats. The crew you meet in the first season? That’s just half of them!
There’s a small Easter egg when Kaya was looking at the newspaper, at the left side of luffy’s bounty poster, you could see an article pertaining to the revolutionary army and dragon. Exciting to see them, especially sabi.
Because there are ONLY 8 episodes in this first season they had to cut down and condense a lot of the manga/anime stories in order to get everything from "the East Blue" into this first season.
About the flipflops... I read somewhere that it's because of Netflix rules for safety... They wouldn't let the main character of the series to wear flipflops for safety reasons.
In case y'all didn't know even if you may actually know, "collier", "côtelette", "poitrine" "épaule" and "mouton" are french words ! Poitrine, épaule, côtelette et collier are different parts that you can eat on an animal and are located where Sanji hits, and mouton means sheep
y'know what now that i think about it, i don't think they thought zoro was dead. they knew a bottle would only knock him out. however, they probably thought if they threw him in the well that the fall would kill him, especially if they carelessly threw him. it's a long fall. that's my guess.
The way they did captain kuro hunting like a cat while also being reminiscent of a horror movie was so good. Gives me hope for thriller bark and how it could be really scary. Ps. If they remove Luffy pushing a zombie back into the ground I’m rioting.

This is something I've been looking for. Fans who are happy with this adaptation. I'm new to One Piece, brought in by this series. As I've been watching the anime, I had a feeling I would have been happy with the Netflix Live Action, had I been a fan of the anime first. This makes me feel I was right.
Actually I've heard the reason why they didn't put the sandals/flip flops on Luffy's actor (Iñaki Godoy) is because first, it wouldn't look and be practical for the action scenes in a live action, second because of Netflix's safety policies, which don't allow that type of footwear.

Either they only propped it up so you see it from one view: OR as they's guys suggest they convert it into an actual resort. THOUGH more likely ANY interior shots are taken somewhere else. If it IS taken out in the ocean and not a green screen, I imagine it's as close to land as possible and simple point the camera at just the right angle.

Because that means the villagers didn’t know either, which takes away the emotional gut punch of learning they were only pretending to hate her all along so she wouldn’t feel like she let them down if she couldn’t or didn’t fulfill her end of the deal. For an entire village to not only depend on a little girl to secure their freedom, but also not let her know they were depending on her so she would have the option of escaping Arlong on her own, that, along with the villagers deciding enough is enough when Arlong cheats his way out of the deal by having Nezumi confiscate her money when she finally had enough and not listening to Nami when she practically begs them to not attack Arlong, made her “help me” scene far more emotional than what we got in the live action version(not that the live action version wasn’t emotional, just not anywhere near *as* emotional as the original version). Especially since Arlong was the one that took her against her will because of her cartography skills instead of her going to him and telling him about those skills willingly.
Oh I was so confused about how they don't remember Zeff ate his own leg to save Sanji. They only watched the show. I've only read the manga and started watching the show from Wano. In the manga Sanji looks like walking corpse and Zeff looks 1 step away from dying due to the blood loss.

To me when I saw the last scene of this show I was really hoping I see a cameo of two characters we know. where one character is looking a waterfall of the red line letting her captain know there are still no sightings of any ships coming down as she was looking through the telescope the woman wearing a white hat and what was carrying the telescope was a woman arm that look like it was attached to the ship but wasn’t! Then, after that part then comes where the camera was actually moving really far from where that character was so far a reach a foggy 🌫️ area which happens to be winter there there we actually see a Shadowly backside of a certain weird little guy we know 🦌(we don’t actually see him clearly) and then the scene cuts black. I just thought it be a really good idea to know what was going to be coming next season

All of you acknowledge that this is a live adaptation of the manga and not the anime but then get confused about things like Zeff’s leg. It’s pretty obvious that was a manga detail.
Zoro starts off as ‘lost’ in the manga, as he wanders the ocean until he hits landfall searching for pirates to hunt. The first manga scene of him getting lost happens in Syrup Village I believe
I immediately fell in love with kobys actor and had to look him up. he has quite a lot of experience and he's trans, which I think is awesome that oda did that. I just hope this poor guy won't get any hate because he's so amazing

Honestly, I found anime Coby to be annoying (unpopular opinion ig), but live action Coby to be SO endearing and relatable and wholesome.

To me when I saw the last scene of this show I was really hoping I see a cameo of two characters we know.
where one character is looking a waterfall of the red line letting her captain know there are still no sightings of any ships coming down as she was looking through the telescope the woman wearing a white hat and what was carrying the telescope was a woman arm that look like it was attached to the ship but wasn’t!
Then, after that part then comes where the camera was actually moving really far from where that character was so far a reach a foggy 🌫️ area which happens to be winter there there we actually see a Shadowly backside of a certain weird little guy we know 🦌(we don’t actually see him clearly) and then the scene cuts black.
I just thought it be a really good idea to know what was going to be coming next season
