    As an Eagles fan, my favorite preseason tradition is getting hyped out of my mind for Tanner McKee, and then forget he exists once the regular season begins.

  • @xdreg
    @xdreg 25 วันที่ผ่านมา +47

    McKee knows how to play in the pocket, that's what Stanford taught him. He played under a "trusting" defense where you rely on everyone to do their individual jobs and expect nothing else. He could have been a first rounder if we're being honest but....he went to Stanford. I'm hyped to have him as our backup this year, I really...really enjoy watching him play.

    • @HawgWyldFishing
      @HawgWyldFishing 25 วันที่ผ่านมา +7

      Talent is talent. Going to Stanford didn’t stop him from being drafted highly. If he were a first round talent, he would’ve been drafted in the first round. There is far too much easy access to film on these guys for a standout talent to just go unnoticed. Even if the talent around them isn’t great, great talent stands out. Just look at Drake Maye at UNC from the same class.

    • @kylehallman1283
      @kylehallman1283 25 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      @HawgWyldFishing if that were true, teams wouldn't make mistakes when drafting quarterbacks ever. There are ways to hide talent, just as much as there are ways to hide a lack of it. He was drafted in the 6th for the same reason, but going in the opposite direction, Kenny Pickett was drafted in the 1st.

    • @xdreg
      @xdreg 25 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @HawgWyldFishing you definitely have a point, I'm just making a blanket statement that he cane from a smaller school. *generally...* smaller schools don't get ALOT of attention because of their competition. Just a blanket statement yk but good point!

    • @HawgWyldFishing
      @HawgWyldFishing 25 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@kylehallman1283 Kenny wasn’t drafted based on his size, athletic ability, or talent. He was the ultimate, “fuck it, let’s see what happens. Can’t be worse than what we have available today”, kind of draft pick. He got drafted more because of where he played in college, than how he actually played, in the system he played in. He was a cute story for the owner to try and sell, not a true talent or potential evaluation.

      Teams want running QBs a trend that started in the late and has always been there especially in the 90s and parts of the early 2000s they're great to watch but your not building a dynasty with a scrambler. Football is to be played from the pocket team game the Oline matters

But I feel having McKee, well, like I did when we had Foles behind Wentz. The health of Jalen and Tanner, along with their value vs their pricetag will determine their futures. I'm not sure why there's so much talk about the Tush Push this week. They converted one last week with Pickett/2nd Stringers just fine. Here we have our 3rd string center and a mostly 3rd string O-line. Obviously it's not gonna be as effective

    • @brendancurtin679
      @brendancurtin679 25 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yeah, and we’ll see how it goes in the regular season but as important as Kelce undoubtedly was, I kind of think people are putting way too much weight on his role in it (just as I think people used to put too much stock in Jalen’s squatting power). I think Dickerson and Mailata are the most important guys in it. But if timing seems off or Cam gets blown up off the line every time, then I’ll admit I was wrong. I also think Lane Johnson is way underrated in the Brotherly Shove. He’s probably the most important in the actual shove part. The QB and all of the rest of the linemen are just running a QB sneak. The RB and Lane Johnson do the pushing.

  • @jakethornton4856
    @jakethornton4856 25 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

    I feel like Jalen is more the secret sauce of the Tush Push more than Kelce was. I'm sure that Kelce helped a lot but there is a reason that other teams in the NFL that had good centers werent able to do the Tush Push. It was nice to see McKee pop off tho, some of the underneath routes that he missed were to guys that havent done much in practice like 82 Smith, who hasnt done much in camp and I feel like he was hitting most of those deep throws to 86 Ngata who he knows and that helps him anticipate those throws. I have always felt that to be great at anticipating throws u need reps with the guys ur throwing to just to get a feel for how they do their breaks and how fast they come out of them. I feel the main reason the Eagles traded for Kenny is that Mariota scared them last year cuz the offense cud do nothing when he was in but I'm surprised they didnt just draft another qb and give McKee a shot at this point unless he just improved a lot in the offseason.

I don’t think that even Jalen Hurts is going to be able to help with fixing that problem. Kelce having the ability to snap the ball and fire forwards at the exact same time was a crucial aspect of that play. I’m gonna take a wild guess as to why you would cover Tanner before you covered Tiny Hands Two Gloves Pickett and his performance in this game. Might’ve been the most atrocious QB performance I’ve seen so far this preseason, by a mile.

      I mean if you have a guy in your face every snap, and guys can't get open what are you expecting?

      @@DankBirdGang52 Kenny Pickett was the reason he had guys in his face. He was standing there like a statue, just watching as the line slowly got pushed back into his lap, and he never even thought to try and move until they were wrapping him up for the sack. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a QB take a 7 step drop, have plenty of time and space, and eat a sack because they chose to ignore the space they were losing, and didn’t get the ball out on time, or at all.

    im rooting for mckee but you homers have to take a step back.
    he only used half the field, rarely ...if ever ...threw to his left. and he had time to throw.
    pickett couldnt get to the end of his drop and he had every patriot dlineman in his grill.
    take a deep breath, pickett is more polished and he looks completely different behind a first string o-line. i like mckee tho...i hope we keep him and develop him.

    Where was this when McKee was at Stanford? It is an indictment of the shoddy coaching of David Shaw. It’s still good to see Stanfordians do well in the NFL. Hope Tanner learns a lot from Hurts and better coaching
