I remember when I was shopping for a LSD for mine the Mfactory was like $1600 and the OBX was like $450. I have had an ej8 for about 20 years now I maintain it to look and drive like factory. For more than a decade was running the rare CG trans from a d16a1 but the diff came apart and trashed the casing. Now I have a Frankenstein P20 that has gears from both b000 and a000, I can't remember what gears I crammed in there but I used an OBX LSD. It has like 45k miles on it and the OBX is holding fine works great in the rain and snow. My shifter felt lose side to side, I checked the shift forks and they where worn. New ones where crazy price so I MIG welded the fork tips and then ground them down to fit in the rings, tightest civic shifter I ever felt.
I’m glad the OBX has worked out for you. I was considering welding the shift fork but I was worried the weld would be harder and wear out the synchro hub instead of the fork. Cool to know you did it successfully.
superb video. love the detail. will be referencing it when i do my first diff swap in the near future. also would love to see a review video on how it performs.
Thanks! I love the way it performs overall. I’m planning to do a driving video when the weather warms back up. The car is on all-seasons for winter right now and traction is pretty terrible. I bought the shift fork from www.transmissionpartsdistributors.com - you can find it if you search S40 3-4 Shift Fork.
Yes! I had the main shifter spring already, which firmed up the side-to-side feel. The detent springs were a nice addition too. I was going to install a short shifter but I really like the feel now as-is with the factory shifter and poly linkage bushings.
@@gilbertgarcia4288 the primary pipe of the downpipe starts at 2.25” at the turbo and quickly necks up to 3”. The wastegate is internal so that pipe is 1.5” and intersects with the primary when the primary is about 2.5”. I estimate the car makes around 280hp on 15psi and 330hp on 20psi. It is a small 46mm turbo.
The shifter feels great! Best $20 you can spend. I do think the effort required in/out on 5th and reverse is a little excessive so if I did it again I might leave that one out.

Dropping the trans to seat that snap ring is a great tip!
Our boy Dan Vest taught me that magic!

Super high quality video 👍
Thank you!
Another great video Shawn.
Thanks Rick!
Nice upgrade 👌
Thanks, I'm enjoying it!
Video of car driving 🤌👌🙌👏🤟
Haha, ok. I’ll have to start looking for a mic that can pick up the sound well.
Do it!
Do you have all of the speed factory shift springs? The detent springs as well as the main shifter spring? They are really good!

Good video
Nice one bro i have eg6 turbo swap H2BA7
That’s awesome! I’m still a fan of H-swaps.
Can you point me to where you got the aftermarket shift forks?
TPD - Transmission Parts Distributors
How much build everything like that now?
I think the parts cost was around $2000 at the time.
How much for you to do mine for me? This is something I’ve never done and wouldn’t want to screw anything up doing myself.
@@Avenged7evenXold I don’t do customer work, sorry! Any local transmission shop should be able to do this for you.
What downpipe did you use? I'd like to keep my ac in mine.
I made the downpipe myself.
@ShawnFerret what size did you use? What kind of power did you you make?

@@ShawnFerret thanks for the response. Have you replaced the shifter bushings? Interesting that 5th and reverse have been affected like that.
@@R-SanchezC137 I have Energy poly bushings in the shift linkage.
What was the overall price?
I spent around $2k overall.
Is that 40mm?
Yep
