Some years ago I was told by EA that “If I don’t like battlefield. Don’t play it!” I’ve taken that advice. Thanks EA you’re saving me a lot of money.
I've played every BF up 'til BF1 then EA scammed me on the Origin store (I purchased BF1 Premium but didn't receive the DLCs). I did try to get my money's worth since EA wouldn't refund me but was shortly greeted by aimboters. Haven't bought V or 2042 and I don't regret it. Still enjoying BF3 😄

If I advertise you a meal-combo that includes a burger, a soda and a fry but you only receive the burger and I won't give you the soda or fry, nor give you a refund, then that is a scam. They advertised all DLCs to me as premium, I bought it and didn't receive any DLCs at all even after spending hours with their customer support. If you tell me one more time that they didn't scam me, I'm gonna have to ignore you

I actually got it for free with my new PC and I've only started playing it recently. It has potential but they'd need a ton of work and people to get it up to snuff fast or else it'll continue to die

what annoys me the most with some of these games is that they expect us to pay 70 bucks and yet they give us a game thats not even finished. Most games aren't even worth 60.
Surprised but not surprised. BF1 was the last truly great Battlefield title methinks. I remember when it first came out 6 years ago (Christ, it's really been that long, huh?) and I was absolutely blown away by how gorgeous it looked. It still looks good even for today's standards (in fact, it looks way better than 2042). My absolute favourite bit about the game is most definitely the airship. Anytime one of them is destroyed in a match, you can't help but to simply watch as it slowly glides down, erupting in huge bursts of flame before violently crashing down into the ground

The sound design for BF1 is freaking phenomenal, dude.
The audio-visual aspect of BF1 is just outstanding. You can truly feel the chaos of battle in this title. Absolute gem and it makes me overjoyed to see it going strong, after all those years (yeah, I'm astounded how much the time has passed too, 6 years.. damn.).
@@hungrybadgerr Let's face it, the old team cost more than a newbie with roughly the same kind of training. Just because one has comparable training doesn't mean they world be able to create as great of a product. The idiots running the company just look at the almighty dollar and don't realize that by getting rid of their talented money makers for cheaper money makers, that the level of quality will drop and the games that made them famous and people willing to buy them will drop, thus any savings that they thought they were making went out the door with their old talent. It's something even gamers realize but a CEO or other board members won't because they're so out of touch about what they're doing and how to make any actual good decisions that they're the ones choosing to hurt their company millions to billions of dollars just to save from keeping a single person or two that would cost far less.
There are many games made up through 2015 that have much better graphics, environments, interactions, everything, far better in every way than the current year productions of those franchises from the same publishers. It comes down to firing people for being white, hiring "diversity" and promoting "diversity" over the game, within the game.
Only Yong can put the entirety of the subject matter in his title yet still make the video long enough to beat the algorithm.

As someone who's played Battlefield 1 since launch and who considers it the best and last great Battlefield game seeing that it now has over 10x the amount of players of the CURRENT Battlefield entry makes me so happy
I still consider BF3 or even BF4 to be the best Battlefield. But i agree that BF1 is the last great Battlefield, I spent so many hours on it, and I've lost count on how many times I've watched that trailer.

@@dmdm597 Oh I totally get having BF3 or 4 as the best, Battlefield 1 was the game that got me into Battlefield after being a CoD only player for several years, I played lots of BF3 and 4 too after putting hundreds of hours into Battlefield 1. I have so many good memories with that game, like playing my first round of Operations with a group of friends on Oil Of Empires, or hitting a 500m sniper headshot on St. Quentin Scar. Battlefield 1 was just the best for me

BFV was a good entry too. Not as good as BF1, BF4, or BF3 though. BF1 is definitely the best in the series though.
People might have seen the behind the scenes of how they did BF1 where the voice actors were actually screaming from exhaustion to simulate real life wailing in the battle. That was when the devs cared for a game.
It also helps that Battlefield 1 is currently being sold for $4.79 on Steam due to a sale.

There's a really big possibility that the Netflix remake of "All Quiet on the Western Front" could have led to the dramatic increase of BF1 sales, combined with the possibility that the game was discounted around the same time, it could have dramatically moved units.

That's clickbait, because it's merely due to the fact that it's on sale, the base game and all of it's DLC's for just 5 bucks, which is cheap as hell, especially considering if you do not have the DLC, you might as well be playing a whole different game. If it was because of 2042 doing poorly, Battlefield 1's numbers would've skyrocketed that high months ago.

Thanks to the magic of third party online storefronts like Steam, product games can become almost maintenance free(on part of the game dev) revenue streams, if inconsistent ones..

I just wish BF1 got a little more dlc. A Caucasus Front between White Russia & the Ottomans, a Balkans dlc with Serbia and Bulgaria as new factions, maybe even a Pacific Front between Germany and Japan.
That game holds such a special place in my heart. Turned me into the history nerd I am now.
I don't know why developers don't release new DLC for games 3+ years old, not just this company but many others in the game industry. There are tens of thousands of people playing your game on all platforms, you are leaving money on the table.
I wished they released a dlc focusing on some of the more unknown revolutions of the early 20th century like the 1916 rising in Ireland or the Boxer uprising in China.
BF1 definitely should've received more support. It's clear that there was supposed to be more stuff added (e.g., more customisation for cavalry) and it definitely could use a little more balancing. A great game that could've been ever better if not for the ridiculous habit of releasing a new game every 2 years.

All Quiet on the Western Front made me go back to Battlefield 1 and it’s definitely among the best battlefield games, and one of the best shooters imo.

Battlefield 1 is one of my favorite FPS games of all time. I dream about that game it's so good. The atmosphere, the sniper gunplay, the scale of things. Then there's 2042. I played the beta for 6 hours and swore to never touch the game ever again. And i'm someone that played and finished Cyberpunk 2077 at launch.
Noticed this the other day when looking at steam charts. Immediately bought Bf1 on steam with friends and have been having an amazing time

I actually had an urge to play battlefield 1 the other day that I had a complete blast.... I forgot that my Xbox account had 800 hours in it but my PC didn't.. it was like having a trip back in time all over. I forgot how much I love the game
The main theme, the operations, the unique weapons from the late 1800s and early 1900s, and the behemoths are just some of the main reasons why BF1 is more appealing than BF2042 because is all about the core ideals of the war. The historic value of an almost forgotten war that forged our history to the present!

100%, BF1 is vastly more interesting due to its unique theme, along with it being a good fucking game. 2042 just looks like another futuristic shooter, along with being a shit game.
Gotta be honest I’ve been playing bf1 consistently since it released. Bfv didn’t catch my attention and I thought I’d wait to see if 2042 would stabilize. I’m not really upset that it hasn’t bf1 is still a blast. One of the few modern shooters that imo has genuine staying power. Highly recommend getting into or back into the game as there’s still such fun to be had and now that there aren’t only 5k players on bf1 you can find full games easily on pc at least!
Excellent game, insane attention to detail with virtually all the guns. Not even a BattleField fan, but there’s no way BF1 ain’t something special. I’ll play that game again in a heartbeat.
The first time I heard about the specialist system I knew it was a bad idea and how everyone would hate it, somehow as a random player that is painfully obvious but people in control of these games do not see it.

It would be interesting to have statistics on how many dev hours went into different games and then compare sales and quality. It seems as if AAA publishers try to cut more and more corners and still expect get away with many sales. BF2042 was in active development for 15 months which seems way to short.
I didn’t know people still played BF1. I might get back into it again if thats the case. I had so much fun using the snipers and lmg classes, especially snipers. It’s so satisfying to hit those insanely long distance shots. Makes you feel like a badass

I respect snipers in BF1 and anyone that uses a bolt-action rifles; most of player choose the easy path of full auto weapons, breaking immersion.

I literally forgot about this game the moment people stopped criticizing it.
Battlefield 1 player count is the result of recent -88% discount on BF1 Revolution ( kind of complete version of bf1 with expansions and season pass etc.). In any way I am not defending disappointment that bf2042 is.
I’m one of those battlefield 1 players and it’s better than most shooters imo. It’s up there with halo 3 and call of duty but more immersive and more beautiful. Battlefield 1 was my first battlefield but the atmosphere is beyond any fps I’ve played so far. The gritty combat, the screaming of dying men on the field, the guns blazing, the explosions, and the feeling of skill based sniping. It’s just a feeling no other game can replace, clearly not even newer battlefields.
When the airship destroy and fall from the sky it is always a spectacular sight no matter what sides you're on
A lot of other games are more immersive than bf1. Squad is definitely amongst the top.

You can tell by all the attention to detail and by behind the scenes footage that the whole team behind BF1 actually cared about making a good game. Not to mention the game launched in an actually playable state.

This truly breaks my heart. I have very fond memories of passing the controller with my son back in the BF3 & BF4 days and loved it. Together we have a combined almost 5,000 hours over 4-5 years.
Had I known EA was gonna completely butcher the only true competition to CoD we would've played even more.
Apparently, according to the AJS, MW2 (2022) does the giant map Battlefield nodes better than the last couple battlefield games, and that is the biggest slap in the face.
EA should have their license yanked and give it to someone who knows what to do with it.

I believe I read an article we’re most of the original lead designers from Dice left after BF1, can’t provide a link or anything but I’m sure you can look it up, it was clear to me from the 2042 Beta i hardly put 2 hours into it didn’t feel like a true bf at all
While I don't intend to let DICE of the hook, the suits at EA are also to blame. They wanted to turn Battlefield into Call of Duty with a sprinkle of Overwatch. Operators with unique abilities, a large scale game mode design for steaming, a battle pass, an in game shop with the best cosmetics in it and not earnable. All of which is counter to what made Battlefield great. EA should have put a team together and brought back Medal of Honor as a CoD clone and let Battlefield be Battlefield.

I bought it yesterday at a store and the game box and disk say “Xbox One / Xbox Series X” but it’s not actually the Series X version! It means that I can play the Xbox One version on my Series X 😂 FML. I still play Battlefield V.

The reason cyberpunk reignited was the Netflix series. The interest must be intrigued in order to revive the game. A patch won’t be enough to revive bf2042
The last great Battlefield game I played was Bad Company 2 and I can't express the joy that came from playing it with my friend on one console with one controler, what a times.
I went back and played it and it was complete trash. It didn't age well. But BF1 has after nearly 10 years.

Bad Company 2 was awesome.
They just need to refund everyone, pull the plug on the game’s service, and move on to make a real Battlefield title.
It's a shame because BF is so amazing but the last 2 games don't reach their potential. You can see the gunplay and ideas they were going for but EA, as usual, meddles with the development and rushes the game out before it's playtested properly.
In the concept art, you can see they planned for natural disasters to play a bigger part with landslides and tsunamis (could explain why the maps were clean looking since it was all going to be washed away with benches and cars floating around) but clearly it was cut to release on time. The soldiers also looked cool and had the original classes but I seriously doubt it was DICE's idea to make it a hero shooter that didn't fit the rest of the lore and atmosphere laid out.
The fact that EA's meddling has screwed over the last 2 BFs, and DICE leaders quiting the company is enough to paint the picture of what's going on behind the scenes.
Battlefield 4 is also seeing a resurgence
BF1 is probably the only game I stopped playing just because I a lot of other responsibilities and not because I got bored with. Every game had things I thought "I never though you can do that"

This pretty much shows homage to older titles in a franchise and shows that it can still sell, can still show interest. Wish older titles of some series would end up on steam but such is ips that some owners would rather rot in a vault then ever be released again.

2042 is dead and won't be revived. One of the most broken games I've ever played... and I only played half a match during the beta.
Not a defense in any way for the disaster that is 2042, but Battlefield 1 is on sale on Steam for $5(U.S.) right now. Hell, I might even check it out for 5 bucks as I never played it at release. Might have more than a little to do with the numbers right now.

It's rare to see a community take action other than just complaining to the developers and online about what they don't like in a game so on and so on. I was just watching angry Joe's review, sad to see it's not much better now lol.
The thing is EA could keep releasing expansions for BF1 and BF4 once every two years for the next six years and still make decent money from them. The player base is still there and engaged plus with the constraints on supply chain people haven’t been upgrading their machines as much as they like, it’s a great chance to engage their base.
They also could better keep an eye on what’s going on with tv/movies and take advantage of things like the bump from All Quiet On The Western Front etc and do lightweight promotion and boost sales without having to spend development time.
That’s what I’m saying, old games that are still up to date with players should be receiving some content or get looked back and maybe get a seasonal pass for DLC 20$ with all the content being released. If you ask me, battlefront 2 should’ve keep receiving updates

Idk ttk seems fine to me for a bf game, map design, guns and netcode are a huge problem though. I think the server side netcode/lag comp affects perceived ttk making it seem slower.
The saddest thing is that there are people who still somehow defend it. It's such a bad game, how can you even say that it's good now, when it's missing essential features, looks worse than bf4 from 2013 and runs like ass.

If you're wondering how EA could fuck things up at this point, it's them shutting down Battlefield 1.
I believe one reason why battlefield 1 has an increased player base it to the recently released Netflix movie. All quiet on the western front which is a WWI movie.

Bf1 was a Labor of love by the OG devs before they all left. 2042 is the personification of corporate greed and stupidity. EA is everything wrong with modern gaming. Vote with your wallets.
I’m a die hard Battlefield fan and I refuse to buy 2142. They killed its potential at launch. I sincerely hope it never recovers and that EA and Dice lose an enormous amount of money on it.

@@superstan3290 this game could of had day and night cycle, night and thermal vision. The gun cam of all vehicles could had unique visual on them even vision mode. More realistic guns and vehicles weaponry. more tv hell fire missile etc. sounds visual to the top tier. I could rant on but nothing is appealing about this game it feel cartoonish no realistic feel like battlefield 1 you know. It bothers me that a lot of players wanted something like this but at the end they got scam so did I.

How's the cheaters and hackers state of BF1? i played it a couple of months ago in Steam and the amount of hackers and cheaters was really bad lmao, i am starting to think to buy it on console, i don't know if it's better or worse on console in that regard

The fact players are still playing a battlefield game shows that people still love the franchise but needs to get back to the drawing board, maybe a battlefield 3 remake or remaster?

The biggest thing for me is the fact that there's almost zero destruction compared to older titles. This game does not feel like battlefield at all. This feels like a third party studio $40 game. If this game would have released at that price point I think everyone would be a lot more forgiving but the fact that they were charging $100 for the special edition or whatever the hell it was called is ridiculous.

My big issue with 2043 is that it doesn't feel like a battlefield game. But I picked it up for 20 dollars a few weeks ago and as a 20 dollar game it's not bad. Bit I really don't feel it's up to the standards of previous Battlefield games

Battelfield 1 is still my favorite Battelfield to this day. Everything about that game is fantastic. Long live the Martini-Henry. Loved running around with that thing. May have to re-download after seeing that player count.
I'm someone who was somewhat into Battlefield. I saw the "hype" over "1942" back in the day, but didn't get into that one. However, I jumped on "BF2" and quite liked it, but then I also went on to play "2142" a lot more, which is the one I just loved most for the setting and gameplay and everything. Not to say that 3 and 4 after that were bad, obviously they had a lot of dedicated players, but I just never liked that whole "present day modern warfare" theme all these frickin' games had going. - ANYWAY, I was willing to give "2042" the benefit of the doubt for its very fun and flashy trailers they showed. It just actually seemed like it was going to be awesome all-out, albeit over the top, warfare, and I was excited for it. But it just turned out to not be that flashy trailer, as EA seems to do now and then. It was very akin to say "Anthem" or indeed "CP2077" in that sense. Just a marketing-lie. - It was disappointing, because I thought there was a lot of potential, but they really botched it badly.
And honestly, I'm much more interested in going back to "BF1" (as a new player even), as it simply does look like a good game. It pretty much always looked solid. (But I just never got into it either.) - I got it for free, though, so that helps. But still, it's the one I would choose from the most recent bunch. - It just goes to show that online games should just get longer-term support. That's a thing that "live-service" games get right, along the lines of "APEX" and such, even though I'm not that into them, they're basically multiplayer-games with long-time support that won't get a new one every year or two, which only leads to crap like "BF2042" and even "BFV" which showed a decline in quality. - Just do fewer releases and better development/support.

This analisys is not fair, hear me out:
BF1 is peaking because of a movie on Netflix "All quiet on the Western Front" which lauched at the beginning of November. you can actualyy see the curve is flat before that.
But yes BF2042 is a burning trashcan with petrol all over it, nothing is changing that.
You know what makes this even more funny? Halo Infinite is free and has a smaller 24 hour peak than Battlefield 2042 according to Steam charts. 2042 has a 5387 peak at the time of looking and Infinite has a 4215 peak
