Thanks Nick, great video. One we’ve been waiting for as we’ve got a 2004 targa 43 (also in Poole as it happens). To add some info to answer some questions in other comments: Speed - ours has later Volvo Penta TAMD75P so 480hp each, and we got 37kts earlier this season. It’s a great solid boat with a decent turn of pace (not quite as quick or fun to helm as our previous 2005 Targa 34 with KAD 300’s but certainly a better sea boat). Original cost - our original b a peters plc invoice was £285k in late 2003 for 2004 delivery. Differences on ours are that we have the griddle fitted, an onan generator under the garage floor, plus the later targa 43’s garage door is modified to lift centre of bathing platform (ours had a Williams 285, now has a Brig 300 with a Suzuki 20hp outboard. We’ve got air con as well as eberspacher too. We have upgraded upholstery to modern silvertex, newer steering wheel, latest fusion stereo, underwater lights, etc - all of which has modernised elements and kept it fresh. Ours is build no. 283 and was quite a late one so I guess they made just over 300.
@@AQUAHOLIC haha, may take you up on that! Just some more info in case anyone is interested in an owners view: The circular cockpit seating is ok but designers could have used the space better - it lacks a corner to relax into (with a good book 🤣) and the placement of griddle could have been better for more forward seating (the little seat on the griddle side is not that comfortable on a journey). Fuel consumption pretty decent at about 80-90 litres p/hr at 22- 25kts. Certainly much better than friends with targa 47’s with d9 575’s and MUCH better than targa 52 with d12 715’s (not far off twice as efficient). Price - the one advertised at £150k is a reflection of the market - ours, including all improvements we have made since purchasing in 2018, owes us less than that and is much later boat with largest engine option, and all options ticked and dare I say in much better condition. We could have bought a similar age targa 43 with TAMD63’s, like the one advertised 5 years ago for sub £100k. Supply and demand I guess!! Our problem is finding what boat to move up to (trying to stick with shaft drive sports cruisers) - Fairline targa 47, Princess V48, Sunseeker Portofino 46/47 all appeal and have benefit of a hard top, but a good late-ish version of each one is probably twice the price of our 2004 Targa 43 which I can’t quite equate. That’s possibly why so few Targa 43’s are ever on the market in the UK. Shame the Targa 44 hardtop is IPS only and has no tender garage, as it otherwise has some plus points (much better cockpit).
Hi Ali, not sure if you get this ... but what do you spend a weekend out with the boat on sea, roughly? I'm really considering something like this to actually live on for a while - just store my stuff in a storage box, turn the guest room into my home office and travel a bit.
@@chasbodaniels1744 so better sleeping and lounging areas so you can spend more time on the boat. More head room in the bedrooms, spacier bathrooms with seperate showers, full kitchens with bars etc.
Does anyone else just watch the same videos over and over again. I always go back to the start and watch them all again. This , for the money , has to be my favourite ( affordable )
I’ll tell ya, this boat feels much more like a 50’+ boat, and not a 43 footer. Also hard to believe it’s 20 years old. Not only did the design hold up really well, but it’s an exceptional condition……clearly she has been meticulously maintained. Very impressive! Never considered buying a 20 year old boat (for obvious reasons) but with this baby I’d make an exception!
Imagine if you threw an extra £5K - £10K at her too to modernise the chart/nav gear, perhaps new carpets, soft furnishing & a few touches here & there... she is fabulous now but you could lift her off the charts!!! 😍
Total lenght is almost 14 meters, so it's really a 45-footer. (43 plus bathing platform, maybe?) Had one for a few years. Brilliant boat and nice to work on and improve since everything onboard is high quality. The only downside for me was the curved sofas. It's not easy for a tall person to find a place to lie down for a rest.
Not sure how you come to this conclusion, I would watch the video again, as I have said in a comment the engine area and engines are very dirty with corrosion, before you say its a 20 year old boat with the greatest respect that is not an excuse.
A testament to the quality of these boats, still looking good and stylish today. Who wouldn’t be happy with a boat like this, nice looking boat. Great tour as always.
Hi Nick. This ticks all the boxes. Dark blue hull, tons of social spaces, immaculate condition throughout, stunning lines, garage, dedicated cabins, and even a Hobbits Elf in the galley? Amazing boat for 150k. Great Sunday afternoon video walkthrough Thanks 😊
She is gorgeous. I love all the wood inside. Its just so stylish , with a better overall look than some bigger boats. For her size the space you have is just brilliant. A big plus, a place where you can read a good book. Thank you for bringing this video of her to us
Lovely boat with a well thought out interior and lovely flowing lines. Typical Fairline woodwork as well, quite a lot of boat for the money and good looking too.
Again with the thumbs down????? Great tour of what for a 20 year old boat is amazing. Well looked after by it’s previous/current owner. Couldn’t really fault it. Have a great rest of the weekend. I’m recovering from a night out with pals.
Good lines, and obviously very well maintained. Usually with a 10+ yr old boat you'll start to see the cushions that are exposed to the elements start to turn green, but not so here (except for the ones in the garage). Flooring, woodwork etc. is all in really good shape. Quite a nice boat! Thanks for the tour!
This is a lovely boat and from experience, a good sea boat in the UK, an important point for buyers is running costs especially mooring charges, most marinas have a price step around 45 ft which this boat nicely drops under also being shaft drive maintenance is cheaper as no expensive outdrives to service every other year. Thankyou for the video Nick. :)
And thank you Nick for this nice show of the Fairline Targa 43, what a space you have with the targa's always in the accomodation its surprise me again
I love the Fairline Squadrons. This Targa is really nice though. I love the old cherry, so much more class than the newer gray interiors with mirrors every where.
Having watched the video, now, I maintain that this is a fantastic boat, love the quality and the 39/40/43 size for a small family. Good value for the money. To get it perfect, I think an engine lift/full service could be in place. As always, dear Nick, thank you for the inspiration.
Hi Nick, this is without a doubt one of the best Fairline's ever build due to her mid engine layout . I own nr122 (2001) in the South of France and i get often the question to sell the boat. This model is still very popular and will stay so for many years to come. Thanks for the video ! grtz from Belgium
I agree. Not such a fan of the high gloss dark cherry wood finish. However, some of the new(ish) interior finishes are a bit underwhelming as well to be fair. Give me a black Ash or light oak finish and I'm a happy camper.
I have to agree with others on here what a great looking boat for its age and if you had not told us its age i do not think anyone would have guessed it was 20 years old. To me the only thing that dated it was the interior wood colour, if it was darker or matt finish it would look more modern. A great find Nick cheers.
What a great boat. I couldn't believe how everything was given just the rite amount of space that it made the boat seem so much bigger. The galley great looking perfect amount of room. Two bedrooms two heads nice size cockpit, well done. A garage crazy great boat!
I really like this boat, great design never ages and this for a 20 year old boat is testament to that. Love the social area down below and the cabins are fantastic. For me this boat is all you need, once again great video Nick

Beautiful boat, great size, and relatively great value from the looks of it. I love how late 90's designers across the boating and automotive worlds all seem to have taken a vow to avoid ninety degree angles AT ALL COSTS.
Lovely boat, reminds me of a Sunseeker Superhawk, if cherrywood is a bit too much you can get the wood wrapped/covered in film, to lighten the interior. It’s a lot of boat for the money, excellent coverage, Nick. 👍
Nick, I love Cherry wood polished, shiny and bright! It is never out of date! I see the only thing wrong with this setup is not having a fly-bridge! I love the wood and interior, a little fish guts on all the finishes and it would be perfect! Of course I am fisherman and don't care about anything else except speed! Great boat at a good price!
Wow if I had the money to be looking, this is what I'd want, absolutely spot on, nothing I would change, even the cd player. 👍🇬🇧❤️ Postscript: the boat to starboard looked interesting too.
Funny how round everything in the early 2000s was. Like the boat designers got a new set of French curves and didn't want to draw with a ruler anymore. Great video Nick and a very nice boat too!
Wow !!! Now this is Just Superb …. I’m sure it has my Name on it …. this is Exactly what i’ve been looking for … Just needs the BBQ Grill fitted and probably a Generator … But Absolutely Love it …. Great job Nick some more vids like this if boats around 100k would be just Awesome !! 👍😎❤️
Very smart layout overall. Love this! Also can't help but notice that boats from that era are very colourful inside and out compared to the current ones too. Have a great week ahead, Nick!
Wow that boat is fantastic, it's a beautiful shape and I love the cherry wood inside, you would never think it was 20years old it's a dream machine, (my dream) thank you nick fantastic video 👍🛥
I love all the boats. While I’m waiting for new vids to be uploaded I watch all the other vids again. Over and over. Never get board. I think this one ( possibly at a stretch affordable ) is my favourite. It’s amazing by going for an older boat what you get. Love the channel. Thank you.
Very nicely priced. Not much needing doing to it to make 21st century. Presumably a new version of the MFD, perhaps the couch cushions can do with a reskin. As you say perhaps put a BBQ in. I'd also replace that bar of Imperial Leather with a more modern soap. EDIT: that engine room can could with a proper scrub.
As the owner of a quite old 26 foot midcabin boat and really liking the layout (sort of similar to Nicks Jeanneu, but much older), this one would be a dream to upgrade to. Alas, the wallet is not as appreciative. But maybe in the future, who knows.
LOVE IT NICK... look at all that gloss cherry!!! 😍 This really is my size & layout of boat, perfectly proportioned & a garage too plus that slot for a slide out passerelle or even a retro fitted electric one - FAB! 👍🏻

A beautiful boat and a lot for your money, personally I think I'd rather have the guest cabin and let friends and family have the cabin up front. With a few little tweaks and upgrades you would never believe she was a 20 year old boat, thanks again and keep it up.
Really super boat for 150k..so much you can do with that…for me the targa roofs pre electric are frustrating after a while..one of the memories I have of my last targa boat of this kind is too many countless hours messing about with/getting frustrated with the canopy..having said that the reality of what this boat can offer for that price is amazing 👍
Thank you Nick for supplying yet more product for my new addiction. Very interested in the focused angling boats from Extreme NZ, now being imported to the U.K. 605/705 Game King range.
100% I'd buy something like that to get me started if I had the money. 20 year old, bit dated in places but still a lovely boat. 43ft seems the sweet spot for me
That is one cracking little cruiser! The amount of space is huge for a boat her size. The layout seems to be similar to the Fairline Targa 40 you've reviewed last year. Good Day.
As always a Grand Tour, thanks for yet another one, presented with usual aplomb Nick! It makes me realize, not being an expert in any way, how clever the boat designers and manufacturers have to be to get all that into a confined space and make it go like the clappers in a marine environment which means not very chemically friendly to a lot of the materials involved. Thankfully the product of thousands of years of boat evolution, if the design requirements were presented to me (being without much of a clue about boats), I'd not know where to start with a solution that fulfilled all the needs and was saleable and still floated! Have to admire that, even with this example which is not totally state of the art.

5 years of great work. Oh and £150,000 seems a bargain for this Targa.
Things were Thought about more back then. The style of this boat It's still today cool and functional.
I think the big difference is that accommodation sells boats, so today's boats are often very accommodation biased.
Can someone define for me Nick’s term “accommodation”?

That is one cracking little cruiser! The amount of space is huge for a boat her size. The layout seems to be similar to the Fairline Targa 40 you've reviewed last year. Good Day.
That’s stunning! Doesn’t look anywhere near 20 years old!
Really looking forward to your video on the different kinds of drives!
Another first class review, fantastic layout...
Many thanks!
Is this Nick's new boat I wonder. Very nice boat and quite a bit for the bucks, thanks Nick
Now THIS is my dream boat!
Guest cabin looks nice too!
Enjoyed the tour thoroughly! Thanks Nick!
My pleasure!
Amazing - that's a whole lot of boat for the money - the kind of deal that could twist my arm! 🙂
No room for chairs nick.. but surely a nice boat.
