    I don't care what everybody else says I think you made a great job of that, keep up the good work. By the way your content is really good.

      I’m glad you like the end result on this knife. Hey… I made it work for me. I just want other people to know that they can do the same thing.
      And I appreciate the kind words about the contact. Thank you!

    KTS you saw the same thing in that knife that I did. Such potential to be great. I have two of the BOB 154cm knives and one carbon steel model. They’re a project, for sure. Won’t do anything great out of the box, kind of good at a few things. But the handle in my hand is hard to beat, I think that’s what drew me to the knife; handle to blade ratio is even, that’s where I feel I have best control of my tool and get best results. I ground a true scandi on my carbon knife, completely reground one of my 154 knives to a 3/4 height true scandi and simply convexed the edge on the other. If I had it to do over I’d just convex them all. I don’t believe in a one knife solution, need a large knife and a small knife to do what I do safely and efficiently. To each their own. The BOB with a convexed edge is one of the best all around knives in my collection. As for criticisms on mods, dude it’s yours, grind away. Your mods are fantastic and you know what you want out of that blade. I enjoy your take on knives and am surprised / relieved there’s someone else out there that opens a package and heads straight to the stones or the grinder with their new purchase.

      Great comment. I agree with you on every point. Glad to know I’m not alone as far as doing mods before you even step in the house!

    Great sense of humor. You actually made a tops I might like. I just can't justify the price for what you get.

      Thank you very much for the kind words. I really do appreciate it. They are kind of pricey. And to pay that price and then have to have pay for equipment to be able to do what I did, makes it kind of cost prohibitive.

    I literally choped off that firesteel scriker from my bob and used jbweld to put a stone handcarved skull on mine hilt or butt of knife and thats now the scull crusher or basher ,it looks badass

    Your knife, you can do as you wish with it ... I have the 154cm version with G10 scales and have no such issues with the design out of the box. Great knife ...

      Thanks for watching and commenting. I appreciate it. Well, this knife is now gone. I could never get comfortable with it and bond with it. Glad yours works for you. Enjoy!

    I left the little protrusion on the bottom of mine, because I like to try starting fires with Flint and Steel. The little divot on the bottom was perfect for striking a flint. I can always remove it later, if it get tired of it. I found the Orange/ Tan Micarta handle model, locally, for less than $100. A local guy bought it and didn't like it after using it for a few times.

    Wow. You're sarcastic. ... "Spydie hole"... "Bullet hole"... "@$$hole"
    Lol! I love it! Very clever!
    You're also an enabler, because I never even glanced at that knife previous to your videos. But honestly, with the mods you made... Well, my mind is wandering a bit.... Lol!
    Great job - knife and video! 👍🏻

      Ahhh! My kind of viewer. You “get” me. Thank you for your kind words. They are the encouraging fuel I need to keep doing these!!!
      Glad you are thinking about getting one. Be prepared to take a lot of time modding it. It is very gratifying!!

    The bob is a saber grind for peoples information from the factory.

    • @knifetimestory
      @knifetimestory  ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s actually a Scandi grind with a secondary edge. They may claim it’s a saber, but it is not. It is a poor attempt at a Scandi but with a secondary edge. That’s the information people really need to know.

    Yep, the exact same gripes I had with mine! It was easier for me to sell than mod at the time.
    From TOPS perspective, it wasn’t their own in house design. It’s probably hard for them to make any changes on a TOPS/B.O.B collaboration. B.O.B would have to sign off on it.
    The Fieldcraft 3.5 is almost perfect, but the damn jimping and guard are still issues.

      @knifetimestory  ปีที่แล้ว

      Excellent points. I did not think of the fact it was a collaborative effort.
      Super easy to "soften" up that jimping and remove the pointy thing. One 1/4 round bastard file will do the trick.
