Great video! My only suggestion would be to cut your simple green. Looks like you are using concentrated. I work in a machine shop and we cut it to 10/90. 10 parts simple green to 90 water (we have filtered water). Saves money on simple green. Thanks for the video!
A good tip is to face a fan towards the wet chassis. Doesn't need to special, almost any fan will do. When moisture evaporates, it creates a region of higher humidity air right above the moisture, and since humid air is heavier than the surrounding air it just sits there slowing evaporation, needing to slowly diffuse into the surrounding air before more can evaporate. By adding a fan, it constantly pushes that higher humidity air out the way, allowing the moisture to evaporate more easily. It significantly reduces drying times.
B E A utiful. Same way I clean all my chassis. I leave them out in the sun in the summer time and on the heat register overnight this time of the year to dry.
Most people think anything electronic that gets wet is ruined wether powered on or not lol and do not understand just water will not make electronic components rust or cause corrosion. i remember hearing of some people actually running them through and old dishwasher and ones of using an oven on low to dry them out.
Wow this is a great video. Scary! But great. I'm new to physical hardware but I'm gonna try this when I finally get my diehard machine apart. I do have cleaning related questions about PCbs with batteries that can't be removed. Is it safe to also wash those like this?
@@MikesArcadeMonitorRepaircool, I just got a cps1 with Megan power battle and it's pretty filthy so that's why I was asking. One day I'll learn to solder for boards that can remove the batteries. I thank you for being such a great resource. I've already watched several of your videos a couple times :)
I see some of the caps in the parts list have voltage specs over 100V. Do I need to take care to discharge them before handling the chassis board, or do they naturally drain?
They discharge upon powering down the chassis. The G07 is the only chassis I've ever seen that you need to manually discharge the filter cap, but it's also not an auto-discharging chassis like most of them are.
The G07 was always the arm biter, i cant remember if the early wg k4600s or if it was models earlier that could also bite you, you learned the lesson real quick to respect the G07 lol. Wg k7000s and neotecs i generally trust but still screwdriver it just incase, they can still hold a tiny bit at times but not enough to do anything but give you a little scare lol

Good to know!

Awesome! Love the before and after effect.
Nice. I now have slight envy of your deep large sink and spray hose.
Honestly super helpful channel. Thanks so much!
An absolute friggin awesome video sir !

Thanks Mike.. very helpful sharing your info with us

Can’t be removed? You can’t desolder them?
@MikesArcadeMonitorRepair still learning my way around a soldiering iron, and aren't some batteries unable to be soldierd because they will suicide.
Yes. That’s true. I’d say you’d be ok washing them, but I wouldn’t submerge them.

Muy lindo. Me ayudarías a encontrar un chasis para un cinescopio Hitachi de 29”?? Saludos desde uruguay
Thank you for sharing!
Hello Mike! Do you have any experience with kortek 3414DF? I would love to learn how to completely over haul them.
Looking to rebuild mine. Where would i find the chassis model number ?

GREAT VIDEO MIKE!
I could actually hear that chassis saying “AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH” while it was getting that Simple Green hot water scrub.
Love your Great video's.
Mike, do you think there could be impurities from the tap water that could be left on the chassis?
No. Nothing that would do anything to damage it in any way.
True "barn find" 😂
Looks like barn dust to me.
I thought you would tell and show how to clean the boards?!
He did… what video did you watch?
