This video is out of my depth for now but I’m glad you brought it to my attention. I really like apple’s internal design over other phones but these restrictions they put on the consumer is disappointing. And thank you for your videos.

hey hugh big fan here , i think we “fans” all got a question , which is do these water resistant seals real work aftet installing them and can you do a test to prove their efficiency ? thanks again (like this so it gets to hugh)
No it doesnt make the phone waterresistant, but it will keep dust and small spats of liquid out. Also you should never trust your phones waterresistance, it degraded over time and also if the simtray is just sticking out 0,1 milimeter the waterresistance is gone.
Hey Hugh, since you didn't have the original screen what did you do differently (more complex). I would really appreciate if you could explain a little. New subscriber and I am loving your videos.
The JC Pro1000S looks and functions like a piece of development hardware. Reminds me of the IS-NITRO-EMULATOR, which was a dev kit for the Nintendo DS back in the day.
You’ve inspired me to do Apple device repairs which has saved me heaps of money by repairing my own devices. Now my classmates are giving me their old iPhones coz they don’t kno how to fix them so now I’m starting a collection :)
As you said nearly the end of the video, "...hinders the repairs..." if the time that Apple actually decides to hinder repairs completely, what would you do as a repair channel? Just curious.
@6:55, I initially misunderstood what you said... I thought you were saying warranty was no longer recognized because of you tampering with the device. But alas, it was because it’s expired I’m assuming..? Anyhow, my reason for messaging is this, those warranty stickers that say “void if broken” don’t hold up in the US. OEM’s throw those on to get people to throw stuff away to buy new stuff. Well, that was challenged in a court of law and the diy enthusiasts won.
Hugh, thanks for great video. Does this work to transfer all data to copy/non OEM screens? My old tool only transferred data to other genuine OEM screens, not to copy screens. Your reply would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Hey man, I don't suspect you'll answer this comment but I'm stuck on a 7 plus repair, the pentalobe screws on the bottom, their heads are stripped badly. How can I get them out or get the display off? If I have to I'll break the display but any help would be appreciated
Use a pentalobe driver that's a size up and try to get a grip that way. If you're brave and have a driver that's on its way out you can (carefully!) solder it to the screw itself.
This is the first time I heard this I’ve been trying repair iPhones since the first one iPhone 2g never seen this problem with replacing the screen before
Some functions disable automatically in several phone parts (only in iPhones) such as the display, battery, camera etc. Because the parts are paired with the phone.
Something he didn't mention: you (as far as I'm aware) can only use OEM screens or refurbished screens to have the ability to reprogram the screen and flash the serial numbers over. Aftermarket screens will not work for this function.
Not exactly right, you need a screen with a so called EEPROM, which is the chip that stores the calibaration data, I have seen aftermarketdisplays with EEPROMs
Only OEM Displays and Taptic engines can be reprogrammed like this. Most aftermarket ones won't get detected by the programming devices (JC Pro, iCopy, Rewe etc..).
Hi Hugh, wondering if you could provide a place to get easy to understant info abou the JC Pro1000s. In particular, will this product be supported into the future and provide updates when new iPhones are released? As long as I have the correct module, will this get around the issue with the batteries now being tied to the phones? Thanks in advanced.

I paid a premium for an iPhone 8 256GB for my wife, it looks perfect but Truetone is missing. Was given a trashed one with faulty home button, obvious poorly replaced screen (complete with red transparent film!) with Truetone working. I noticed condensation in that same spot when I opened it up too.
When you mentioned something about the Taptic Engine not functioning properly, I too have had this occur. But, In my case, My taptic engine had came loose from the frame, and somehow the IPhone is able to tell that the taptic isn't seated correctly into the casing of the phone. Screwing the taptic engine in resulted in a now fully functioning taptic engine. Maybe it has something to do with increased power draw from the taptic when the whole thing moves as a result of the attempted vibration.
