I really hate when people take their phones to get it repaired at the mall, they always eff up the repair and cause other issues. They never have the proper tools and end up breaking stuff.
(where else do you take them?)
I live in a small city that has exactly _one_ cell phone repair place... (which happens to be at the Mall)

I have an iphone 6 that films my budgies 24 7 , its probably give Hugh a stroke .
It makes me feel rage as that poor repair shop has damage that face ID because of the screw. Thanks for that, because that's apple only encrypted component since touch ID.

I would never trust the mall kiosk people to repair my phone
especially an apple phone. one of the reasons I hate them is they HAVE to be serviced by registered apple locations.

Glass-backed iPhones are fragile, unlike an iPhone with a frame made of rugged, aircraft-grade aluminum. And that's just one reason I still love my 6S.
Seen this myself too many times not only with iPhones but with pro audio equipment. Worked on a pioneer cdj 2000nxs lately and the amount of screws missing was insane. A new cue/ play button later and she’s back to her former glory. If you buy peanuts you get monkeys. Make sure your getting your equipment serviced by a genuine technician or you could be completely ripped off
great repair, just i can't stand the mess and the residue and the dust on the chassis edge
But replacing the frame is better than just the back glass because it will be original and good cosmetic condition…

this is true, I believe he would have done this but he (probably) had to keep a deadline, so he did an improv instead of waiting a week or so for a new frame 🙂
the owner works in construction. really he doesnt need a new phone just something decent and functional.

If you suspect the repair person in the mall, just ask him if you can watch him do repair, that way you can see what he is doing.
I remember I had a phone shop replace the home button on my iPhone 7 because I somehow broke just the home button itself. It was also not functioning anymore and the phone would start getting really hot around the home button. After they replaced it, it only worked intermittently. I wasn’t aware at the time that the home button was paired to the phone so I wonder how they got to the point and why it only worked intermittently after the repair. It would also click by itself sometimes which was really annoying
That phone looks totally rooted! Well done on the repair; You have the hands of a surgeon working on these phones. Laptops are hard enough or me lol!
housing replacement would've been more economical with this one
hey hugh great job fixing that iphone 11! you might want to find a genuine proximity sensor for that iphone 11 and update it to ios 18... face id might fix itself...

No he glossed over that. It definitely didn’t if the cable was damaged because it’s paired to the phone’s logic board which wasn’t changed.

Hi Hugh Jeffrey sir how are you sir iPhone 12 battery replacing when data transferring battery data from old battery to new battery will that loss data of mobile and battery ? as when asked the shop in my place India they said there will be data leak and any suggestion on 82% of battery health on iPhone 12 will it last for 1half year or so with out any problem

I personally would’ve replaced the entire chassis, and probably found a better display, that one didn’t seem all that good. Other than that, great salvage. 👍

i dont get why you don’t just program the replacement batteries, its not that hard to weld the old flex cable to the new battery and use jcid or whatever it was called. i only did software tech stuff not hardware but im familiar with it
