Columbia should definitely pay to proactively contact all prior patients and interview/depose them if they desire.

Its not the university. Why make science pay for the action of individuals? If someone in the university knew of this crime and failed to report it then hold them personally responsible as an inidvidual.

Biden is Irish Catholic and has done NOTHING to prosecute the church! Instead he enables them as silence is violence and must be removed from office. That’s why he didn’t receive as many votes as people thought. He hasn’t the stones to go against his own kind.
As for Columbia, they’re certainly behaving the way one would expect of MAGA Republicans. How utterly callous!

It seems like in this world, the abusers and assaulters are protected until their actions become so heinous that it cant be ignored. For example... a bully isnt a problem until someone ends their own life because of the bullying.

I am outraged that this woman was sexually assaulted 2 days before delivering her child by this horrible predator. The number of victims is outrageous. I hope Columbia is held accountable and that this predator meets with justice in prison. Brave, brave women. My sympathies go out to them. I hope they find peace.

In college I worked in a doctor's office and from what I learned, there is no way other doctors did not know this was happening imo. They just were afraid of reporting him for fear of being sued for defamation. Plus, patients are afraid to come forward and report their doctor for these atrocious acts. Weinstein is not a doctor but Look at how many women Harvey Weinstein raped and how long it took for women to come forward and for justice to be done.

I worked on med malpractice at the Fed level, where health practitioners are supposed to be reported. Unfortunately this case is not uncommon and it is terrifying to know how many docs are practicing b/c the hospitals don't want to report them because of $ and legal costs/liability. I hope the victims can find some piece with this public case.

How can working class, barely literate, conservative immigrant parents Ever provide such medical knowledge to their kids?! You'd have to be university educated parents and even then, you'd have to have studied medicine to be able to provide that information to your kids. The public schools must do it and have Drs come as guest speakers to teach the kids that.

    Make 'em pay.
I, a man who raised a daughter as a single parent, I, a man who took care of his aged mother with dementia for two years, despise actions like this from other maladjusted males. But, to have industry/institutions provide cover for this abhorrent behavior, make 'em pay!!!

    • @lonihollenbeck4654
      @lonihollenbeck4654 ปีที่แล้ว

@user-wm1nn2mu2b I'll tell you a quick story. After my daughter was born, my one and only, I ended up in the Humboldt County drunk tank, where I had a long talk with myself.
Released the next morning, I went home and gave away my nice pot pipe collection and poured out the rest of the booze then went on to raise my daughter straight and sober.
The great part to this story was that I had the best time of my life doin' it. I'm 70 now and my daughter has blessed me with two granddaughters, living in Colorado. I'm in California but we talk on the phone all the time. What damn near brings a tear to my eye, (and I'm a tough guy), is when she tells me what fun she had growing up. I'll take that over a gold watch any day.
Us men have damn near destroyed this planet with our immaturity, I pray that women come to the forefront and lead, as I don't see my gender pulling us out of this nosedive.

Columbia has to take responsibility and the fact that the governor had to sign a law for Mrs. Hochstetter to remove his name is ridiculous. Columbia could've done that small thing in comparison to their failure to protect patients. Always make sure a nurse is present during the exam and if the doctor can't do it or refuses -- leave and get a different doctor. And please report any doctor who refuses to have a nurse, or physician assistant present in exam room.
Thank you to both survivors for doing this interview.

20 years in the Federal prison is not even close to enough time for this guy! I get that it's all being run concurrent, but come on, he's not even getting 1 year for each incident. Also, Fed. prison is the nicest prison you'll see in the states! For the most part, they're made for rich people that commit crimes! Look at some of the guys in the Supreme court! They're rapist and sex offenders themselves! There's most definitely a reason why it's so hard to put away sex offenders and it's 'cause the people making the laws are sex offenders themselves or have friends that are. Even if you're not a sex offender, you don't want your buddy's & business partners to get locked up, right? That will affect the money & that's so much more important & highly regarded than someone getting sexually assaulted! Yeah, right!

If I had to guess, when they first found out about the incidents, they had to decide on a course of action and commit to it. It's most likely that their initial expectations were that everything would just go away after the initial pay offs. To not pay off subsequent victims would risk the whole affair being exposed, so they kept paying off victims hoping all of it would just go away eventually. Either that, or he had a bunch of friends on the board.

What worries me, and may be this is just a system/procedure thing but even if it is; it should not be, how is it that even a higher volume and high profile names involved case of Epstein-Maxwell has barely made any progress? It’s funny how the ruling happens behind doors and public gets only a caricature of the event in the news. I believe public has the right to know what goes inside the courtroom and do believe that it should be recorded and made available to public.
Sometimes it does feel like what if it’s just a scapegoat scenario to make public believe that judicial system is still somewhat working even though all high profile cases go nowhere.
If you have seen episodes on forensic crime investigation of real cases; they show how science, technology and human mind solves them and what kind of evidence supports the investigation. I understand that it by no means makes public an expert to question those methods but it’s still some relevant information that gives some idea that just knowing final outcome of behind the door discussion does not.
If security concerns are cited as reason; I don’t believe it should be because much of what happened is out via news; just not who did what. Without which judicial system has no meaning.

A predator who had never lived in fear and brought so much fear and pain to hundreds of others. Strength and healing to the survivors and may we all strive for accountability in a society where the would be powerful predators of the future make the correct assessment that the transgressions they would hope to commit to others will be met with fear of a justice that will relentlessly hold them to account.

      Yes!
It’s like those men who keep on hiring women. They want more and more women on their teams?
      Diversity 😜
Data tells us if a man (esp white man) is interested in your well being or career? Power game.
He wants to control what’s happening around him (or in his profession) because of his fucked up mindset or because he wants to be around women.
      In some cases, probably both.
That desire to fix the world by telling women (esp minorities) what to do and?
Imagine what kind of abuse must be happening when armed forces (doctors) visit remote locations in South America or Africa.
Catholic Church? Not much different here. Not as horrendous but the mindset? 🙄

The Laurie patient is a little too smiley and constantly says um, um, um….and don’t misunderstand, I am not questioning the fact she was assaulted, but I’m trying to comprehend how she stays with this Dr, for 9 years, never questioning the inappropriate behavior? I mean seriously, in my 20’s I was savvy and perceptive enough to pick up the obvious!! I would have reported this freak immediately, and at the very least, got myself a new physician!

Its not about gender or anything like that; its about power. If more women were in those position the same thing would of happened. When you have situation shaped liked a pyramid the people at the bottom are usually helpless. I am sure workers saw what was going on but what do you do? Some came forward but what do you think happened ?
