- We absolutely love our new Yakima racks!
We’ve really struggled to carry our bikes since having the canopy fitted to the Hilux, but man how things have changed now!
With our new setup we can not only carry the bikes, but we can lock them up securely, tip them down to access the back or even swing them right out of the way so we have the entire space under our 270 awning.
Yakima certainly have this whole ‘rack thing’ dialled. We love it!!
Check them out at www.yakima.com.au
NB: The Yakima BackSwing and HoldUp Evo are not rated for offroad.
Love it team. Love your set up and love how you've worked this into the mix. Epic adventures to come. Take it easy!
We love it too! It’s like you designed it with our setup in mind 😁👌🏼
Perfect video....Im ready to up grade my racks and I was concerned about my tailgate and the stability of the swing out..........your video surely answered my questions. Great post, nicely set up truck....happy camping mate.
Cheers mate - happy to help! Happy adventuring to you too 😁🤙🏼
Great review for me . I was looking specifically for your exact setup on the bike rack . Thanks for the video
Glad it was helpful! :)
Absolutely killer set up guys
Thanks! 😁🙏🏼
Good video and to the point once we got to the rack review. Like the combination of the Hold up 2 and the backswing.
It works really well for us - we have it on the Chev now 👍🏼
Great rack. Im getting one. But do you keep your bikes on the rack in camp anyways? I would pull the bikes off and no obstruction plus ready to ride.
sometimes yes, sometimes no. it all depends really. :)
Great video. Can the backswing be run upside down and swing out the other way? I ask because the lever on top would interfere with the spare tire I have on my Jeep. Thx
Thanks David - but no, it can’t be run upside down 👍🏼
How do you think it will hold up with more weight on it? I’m looking to put an outboard on it. Half of what it’s rated to but an outboard is a pretty expensive thing to have come off on the highway.
Hmmm interesting. Outboards are pretty heavy. I’d definitely say no way
Thank you for this video. How much does the rack cost and can it be used for ebikes, or is there a another type? And how much did it cost? Thanks
Hi, we aren’t too sure of costs at the moment, and the one for e-bikes is called the On Ramp and it works with the Backswing as well. Check it out on the Yakima website 😁
@@AussieDestinationsUnknown thank you very much for the response and the info.
hey mate... nice vid. Whats it like over corrugations etc? Also what do you do about the number plate?
Thanks mate….umm I don’t think the backswing is rated for off-road. Best thing to do is check out the load rating on there website. That will give you all the info. 👍🏼😁
Yeah cheers. What did you do with your number plate?
Yeah cheers. What did you do with your number plate?
I looked at this too and it looked like too much hassle. What a plan to do is get the Yakima Spareride 2, check it out. The only thing I'm worried about is whether the bikes will rub on each other.
I guess it depends on your requirements. We needed one that swung out of the way giving us access to the space under our awning when we are away camping. 🤙🏼
@@AussieDestinationsUnknown Yeah, i'm hoping the spare ride will be high enough to clear the pull out table, if not i'll have to copy your set up!
potentpossum1 fingers crossed hey! 🤞🏼
Hey Guys. Hows that backswing off road & corrugated roads? Any concerns? Thanks
It’s not rated for off-road (so no warranty if you do). We haven’t had a problem as yet, but haven’t done anything very ‘off-road’ with it. 😁
Could you fit the EVO behind the spare tyre without the backswing?
I don’t think so. The bars would hit the spare wheel
Fucken legend. Mind has been made up.
It’s a good setup! That’s for sure 👍🏼
why is this guy funny to me hahaha
🤔
how to buy this?
On the Yakima website 😁👍🏼
Good review but have you been pulled over by the cops yet for obscuring the number plates and rest lights?
We have the Yakima Plate Mate when we are on the road. This displays the license plate clearly - we just didn’t have it when we did this review!👍🏼
costs a fortune though
We find you get what you pay for 😁
This is a top quality product that has had extensive research and testing done on it. We love it 👍🏼
@@AussieDestinationsUnknown Yup...cheap is not good and good is not cheap...thanks for the video...was way helpful!
I turned it off when I heard the “yeeeew”. Cringe.
👋🏼
