  • In this my second cinema 4d turorial i run through my thought process and techniques used for creating hardsurface modeling. from studying reference images, setting up the cinema 4d interface and docking custom icons for quick use.
this tutorial will take you through using various modeling tools, generators and deformers to model a hardsurface object.
dont be affraid to contact me with any questions, or even requests :)

That was NOT a thread. It was horizontal ribs. At no point will anyone of intelligence look at it and say "it actually spirals". If you 3d print it, it will NEVER thread into anuthing. Ever.

But in real life in the middle of the nut is a screw-thread? Why do you don't make it with helix curve and boolean?

Very useful tips.... I love the instance tip. But I wish Maxon would just make a checkbox on tool to let you directly see.

How about modeling the twisted angle for a bolt inside a nut?

I would only model thread if the camera was so close to the object that you could actualy see it. Otherwisr your brain will never see the difference between this way or actualy thread

Maybe faster way to cut polygons in the middle is to use edge selection, ring selection and then use connect points/edges function.(shortcut M/M). At least I have learnt it this way.

Glen, please keep making these videos because it's VERY hard to find really good content like yours about parametric modeling. Your techniques and skills are genuine and amazing. Thank you so much!
