after about a year of running a standard SD card in my 6 v3 cameras.. the cards started failing. After a bit of research, I found that a "high endurance" SD is needed if you want continuous recording (instead of event capture only). I have not had any issues accessing my events, playback or any of my camera functions since switching the cars out.

@@punjabisher786 they are still working confined you have to reformat the cards but once you do they work. I have sd card in all of mine and one is outside always.

They work perfectly! With 3 of these cameras I can see every corner of the yard, and they were very easy to set up. The best part is I only get the footage I want to see, not hours of videos of the bird feeder swaying in the breeze.
Thanks I bought from Microcenter a 256 GB MicroCenter micro SD card (class 10) and it worked fine too, no extra configuration needed. Under "Selected Camera" ... Settings ... Advanced Setting ... Manage SD Card it shows 232.90G. This was a brand new Wyze Cam V3 I just bought from Microcenter

Just wondering if you still have no issues? I'm going to buy 3 x 128gb sd's and i want to be sure! I'm going away on holidays for a month and need the 128gb. I will have 3 x wye v3's to monitor my cats, and make sure to count them from abroad, before i go to sleep :) Have there been any issues with corrupted files, after 32Gb of files have been recorded on your 128gb SD? It took me 6 tried going up and down on the ladder about 15 ft in the air. If you have an sd card over 64 gb keep it exfat format… if you have a partition or 2 “drives” popping up when putting the sd card in your pc delete the smaller size. It took me a while to figure out on my own. To get the camera to read it. Put It in and restart the camera. When I say restart don’t unplug it, go in the app and go to advanced and click restart. I currently has a 128 san disk sd card in mine that works great.

Does the Wyze app overwrite the continuous live feed footage once the microSD is full?
Or, did you went through the trouble of plugging it in to the your computer for storage management?
The Wyze camera just starts overwriting the older data. Ive never had to take down the camera for storage management and never had any issues with my cheap, Microcenter, 128GB card.

Yes, no problem, my Wyse-v3 accepted 128Gb
The problem is when you want to format it in the camera it locks up.. Or at least it did! You can take it out and format it on the computer and put it back in the wyze... It will work.. So check that out!
It’s not officially supported but you can use 128gb in your WyzeCam V2. You just format the microSD to FAT32 on a PC/Laptop before inserting it in your V2.

Wyze may have updated their firmware to support it- Wyze now sells the 128G card and I just loaded one up- works great.

My SD Card has stopped I guess. When I go to view play back footage it tells me No video at the selected time. The camera is working because I can view live footage. When I go to the settings a look at how much usage…it looks as if it just stopped. Should I click on format? The camera isn’t here where I can have easy access to it but will try to get to it in a couple of weeks. The funny thing is last weekend it was working just fine. I’m wondering if it has been tampered with?! 🤷🏻♀️

i just bought a wyzecam v3 indoor&outdoor from homedepot for $35 yesterday, then i went to micro center and bought their micro sd card 128g for $13.99 . during the setup process i was propmted to do a firmware update which i did with no issues, when setup was complete i installed the 128g micro sd card right out of the package, i did not have to format the card, and now i have 116gb of storage space! and so far no gliches . thanks for the info BigC Vlogs
Same here but mine was 64gb cheap kootion one off Amazon I'm testing it right now at first it wouldn't read it I deleted the device reinstalled it with the card in it and BAM I'm time lapse recording rn

I tried a 256Gb SD card in this camera. Worked ok at first, but stopped working after about 2 weeks. The card you're installing does not look like the 'high endurance' sd card. Although your card seemed to work ok at first, did you eventually encounter any problems?
Hello! I can honestly say, the same exact SD Card is still in that same Wyze Cam V3 and I have not had a single issue. I have never even had to reformat the card or anything. The card I used was a "Class 10" card which is really "High Endurance". I think the 256GB are too big, but the 128GB works just fine.
How many days are recorded on 128gb card in continuous mode?
I have five Wyze cameras three of them are v3’s I have a sd cards in them and the sd cards are not recording.
When you go to the Advanced Settings and it shows you "Format", it won't let you format that SD card to 128 gig? Many of us don't have a way to format an SD card on our computers. Now, would we have to buy a card reader to do that? Thanks.
Weird... I didn't have to do any of that. I just put the card in, formatted in the Wyze app and was good to go. Did you restart the camera after you put the card in?

What's the largest v2 will accept?
What process should I do for this action: start recording automatically at 12:01 am each day and end the recording at 11:59 pm the same day and that the video gets automatically saved. In that way I would be having a video of every day of the week. It's possible? how can I do it?
So once you install the memory card, just go to advanced settings on the v3 and then enabled "continuous recording". It will then record for as long as it can till the memory card is full, and then starts overwrite the oldest data with newer data as it continues to record. Also to view the continuous data, you'll select the camera and then you'll have an option at the bottom that'll say "view live stream" (or something along those lines) you will then have to select the date and you can scroll through at any time period and watch what happened.

Yes you can. Just select "Live View" at the bottom and you will be able to scroll through the time line of the whole day with an SD card and 24/7 recording enabled.

Yes, you could view the card on any device. or look back using the app to any camera with an SD card. You get a "Live Feed" view where you can scroll back through the days.

No, if you just wanna live feed, you can buy the camera, set it up, and just open your app whenever you want and view the live feed.

Yes, it will just re-write the old video and you can save the clips to your phone by going to the clip and downloading it from the Wyze app.
Can you delete footage from the sd card in the app or do you have to take it out?
You would have to take it out or format the card from the app to erase it. You can also delete any events from the app if you need to.
Thanks and I hope it records more than 32GB (since I ordered two of the v3). A mistake I made a few years ago with an action cam was that I tested it at home with a 64 GB card many times, then went skiing and most of the files were corrupt since the ION Action Cam only supported FAT32 and 32 GB max. Sure, it would recognize the card, but I got no usable files, so let us know after you have recorded and played back 100 GB of files. I'll bet I was skiing great since I have no evidence to the contrary.

Agreed. The true test is to run it until the card is full and starts over writing. Check to see if you have 100+ GB of video.

If I get a notification, a 12 second video will be saved to the cloud. Will I be able to start recording on my phone in real time or am I limited to recording only on my sd card?
Yes, a 12 Secord recording would go to the cloud. If you have push notifications enabled, then yes, as soon as you got the notification you could click the notification and watch live. (Even use the speaker on the camera to say something if you want) If you put an SD card in and enabled continues recording then you could scroll back to any point during the day for as much as the card holds. (128GB is about 2 weeks of HD 24/7 recording)

So when these cameras record new videos they automatically delete the oldest video, and overwrite them with the latest, correct?
Yes, and if it's on continuous recording it deleted the older days as it writes the new days on the SD card.
The clips (12 seconds) stay in the cloud for 2 weeks. (Free service)

No, go into advanced settings on the camera and make sure continuous recording is enabled.

What is the "Events Only" setting? Oh, I see that it as sound or motion detection. Can anyone chime in to which is better? Or just leave it on continuously? Then do you rewind? Sorry my ex used to take care of all of this. Gotta learn ;)
I say put in an SD Card and let it record 24/7. If you are able to get 128GB SD Cards, then you should have about 10 days (Likely more) of recording. So you could go back to anytime you need and view what happened.

This sd card from microcenter, I didn't have to format. I've heard of other cards having to be formatted though.
When the sdcard is full will it delete the first videos to continue recording? Or can I delete videos from my phone app? The camera will be in a different location than me.
It will automatically delete the oldest videos and keep overwriting it.

Yes, you get included 2 weeks of 12 second videos in the cloud with Wyze (That's free) You can use an SD card for event recording or 24/7 recording but these are very useable without the Wyze Yearly Subscription, all it does is give you added features that you likely will not need lol.

You can bypass the subscription, but you have to take the SD card out and plug it into a computer to view the footage.
My cameras are mounted in locations that are difficult to reach and i dont want to have to mess around pulling cards to see what happened.
@@BradiKal61 No sir...that is not necessary. You can view SD card recordings via the Wyze app. The app also allows you to take and download snapshots or videos of the continuous SD recordings.
It’s worth noting that the Wyze Cam will recognize larger SD cards 64GB and over (formatted to exFAT), but these cards have been known to be unstable, and it is more likely that you will run into problems later on.
No issues here I used fat32 format to format 128gb partition. Have 6 Cams and used them for over a year no issues. I use high quality SD cards. You must use command prompt to format it.

Yes, you can.

Correct, with 32gb you could only have about 3 days of 24/7 recordings to view.

I honestly haven't tested it. My guess would be yes, since the v3 works with 128gb cards, but I'm not 100% sure honestly.

Yes it does. Just put the card in, restart the camera and go into the local storage settings on your app. I got mine at Microcenter, was like $8.

You can do that if you want, sure..
But when card is full the cam will overwrite the oldest video footage, so you dont really have to unless theres video you want to save first.
The system overwrites it once it becomes full.

You can set the recording method to continuous which will have the camera automatically overwrite over the older parts of the SD card with new footage
Big waste of money. I had two they both froze on review and they are stuck and wont do anything. Offline/error.

Those only support 32GB. Only the V3 supports 128GB.

No, but with the SD card you don't really have to pay. It records everything.

It could be the type of cards. You could try to format them in a PC And see if they show up. If not, try resetting the cameras. (Unplug for 5 minutes and then plug back in) to see if the cards show up. I used Microcenter SD Cards and have never had an issue with them working.

No, only 32gb. I tried a 128gb before and the cameras didn't see the card at all.

For continuous recording which is better?? Cloud service or SD card? If you have an SD card installed will the camera only record when there is a detection of movement or can you just pull up the app anytime and look at what's being filmed outside on the camera??
You can pull it up and look at anytime. You will be able to select a date and then scroll through all hours of the video and see anything that happen. (Like a regular security camera DVR) With a 128gb card in a v3, you will have 10-14 days depending on your settings. (HD vs SD resolution etc.)
But I would say 100% that the SD card is the best for continuous recording, plus no fee for it.

What if I go under advanced settings and it don’t recognize even a brand new 32gb SD card? It’s my second camera I’ve attempted to install and it just won’t take any card. I’ve tried a few and just nothing. Wtf? Help anyone???
In that case, you would want to plug the SD card into your computer and format it with FAT32. Then plug it into the Wyze camera. Some SD cards, formatted that way, it sounds like yours didn't. For whatever reason the microcenter cards are formatted correctly from the factory.
I took the cards in question (new PNY class 10….) and attempted to format them in my pc as well as laptop. Neither computer would recognize the card at all. I used a variety of adapters to no success. In the end I formatted a used 128 gb card I had and installed it and all worked fine.

Hello, you CAN use the 128GB cards.

Try this.
With the SD Cards installed in the cameras, unplug the camera for 5 minutes and then plug it back into power and see if the SD card shows up.
If that doesn't work, you would likely need to put the SD card in a computer and format the SD card. Then put it back in the camera, and reboot the camera again.
You should be able to Google "how to format an SD card" and find out how to do that with your computer.
@@BigCVlogs thank you, I decided to buy a new SD card and see if it works. I’m not computer savvy so that will work best for me. I had two cameras with two SD cards not working but I did get one to work by reformatting it on the camera.

I'm using the same SD card it's still only records for 12 seconds what am I doing wrong here
That is the events, those are still 12 seconds. Go into the cameras settings, and selected advanced. Then you can select "continuous recording" and you will have a "live feed" button when you select the camera. You can then scroll back through the days and timeline and see any and everything that happened.

It should automatically format itself and start recording to the card. If not, you can format it in the Wyze app once its in the camera.
I've got 2 V3's .. 1st one I bought worked great until the power went out for a few days and when I tried to reconnect it later on my same wifi the RED LIGHT OF DEATH is all I will do so they sent me a replacement and the replacements Infrared lights will come on When powering on then go off and thats all it will do! I contacted them yet again and they wouldn't replace it because ot was out of warranty by then so I tried 1 more time but I thought I had picked the OG and telephoto package but sent me 2 OG cams and both of them working fine so far ! I learned recently about flashing the firmware on them manuallyso I'll try that and if I can't get the V3s going again I'm COMPLETELY DONE WITH WYZE !
It says you can use a higher gb card but the performance won't be as great. Anyone run into any problems
I haven't had a single issue with mine. Been using it for months with a basic, cheap, microcenter micro SD card.

Yes it does. They do have the Wyze Cam Outdoor Battery that can be recharged or used with a solar panel tho.

Currently used 42gb of 118gb, so it's recorded 5 days worth and still has plenty of room. No issues that I'm seeing currently.
at the end why did he say '124 SD card' instead of '128 SD card'???
Just my mistake. They only come in 128GB. (As well as 32GB, 64GB ect.)

You shouldn't get a beep. Just put the SD card in and then reboot the camera and it should show up.
