Just got mine yesterday. The software update included a grid that you can select panel by panel for motion detection. Great review.
How long is the cord? Can you buy an extension for it? Plugs into a regular power outlet or?

Nice video, good information. This is the 3rd video I watched on Wyze Cam V3, you clearly stated this camera works with Google & Alexa 👍🏼 - the previous 2 videos did NOT mention the camera capability.
I got a v3 a few months ago and fell in love with it right away. So much so that I wish I could replace my 3 other v2's (I have them looking out windows) The night vision is fantastic!
I am planning to do the same sticking on the window. Do you get a good angel of view?

The night vision is great on the V3 or the V2?
Hi! Just wanted to inquire, does your night vision looking out the windows work much better with the V3 over the V2? I've had issues with my V2 reflecting too hard off the windows and making the camera not work appropriately.

Can you set it to sd record motion only without a subscription? If so can you view the motion clips on your phone? Also, can you set recording off for the evening when you are home?

Lon, great review. Very thorough! You answered most of my questions. The only one that you didn't address was the possibility of working with a small solar panel...that could get around having to get the usb indoor but you'd still have a problem at night..unless any of these solar panels include a battery backup. Or another possibility would be to have a small power bank to power the camera. If you had a power bank with a power in and out you could have the solar panel charge the power bank and have the power bank power the camera. Or even better use one of those powerbanks with an integrated solar panel. Doing a review of small solar panels might be an interesting topic to cover.
I agree, that’s exactly the kind of thing I was just mulling over (solar with a small battery)
I'll have to do some investigating. The camera power adapter draws a max of 5 volts/1amp. I'll have to look around for a battery / solar combo and see if it's possible to keep the battery topped off while the camera is drawing power.
@@LonSeidman That would be great. I perused Amazon and saw a few potential solutions although I didn't dig too deep. It seems that there are some solar panels that have built in batteries for this type of application...but will they generate enough power to keep the camera running 24X7??...that's the key question. I think it would make for an interesting video...especially given the growing popularity of the wyze camera and with the advent of their weather proof version. Thanks.
Wyze does now make a solar panel, but unfortunately I can't get one as it is not on the Wyze Canada website yet

Great Cam, bought this to monitor my Printing machine so i didint have to hover over it and my Puppy while we are gone. Great price, great video, but just wish it had some kind of battery.

Can u set the cameras to turn on and off when it detects when i leave and come home from my cell phone???
Sucks no RTSP support out of the box. With their new subscription model I'm not sure they will support it anymore! :(
One of my v3 cam detection zone randomly switches to the small squares detection zone a few days then back to a rectangle DZ, it repeats every week or more at random. I use them for outside and that rectangle is useless for most outside detections. How can i remedy that?
I have a question, I use multiple devices and I was wondering if I have the cameras added to the wyze app and I download the app on another device and log in, will the cameras have to be added again or will they just be saved there
does the apple watch picture notification still work? I'm moving away from blink XT because it does not. Thanks
Oftentimes the cams have difficulty connecting and I get a note to forceclose my cam and app to rectify it. How do I do that? Sometimes just turn off>on will solve it. My cams are no more than 20 30 ft from station inside a home.

I believe that they discontinued the Wyze sense v1 as they are working on v2 with the home monitoring system. I think v1 had an issue that causes them to become unusable after the batteries died.
Is it possible to record on a NAS via wifi or ethernet?

You can group cameras but you have to click on them to see them. Then you have a live view of the group of cameras. That's been my experience with my cameras.

Can you move the camera remotely or is it stationary aside from doing manual adjustments?
He says in the video that it's manually adjustable, but not remotely adjustable. If you want to pan or whatever I think he also states that they have a different camera with that capability.
So can I use it without wifi?? I was going to buy one. I’m getting power down to my barn so I was looking for a wired camera that doesn’t require wifi, and that I can look at from my phone anywhere anytime. It’s for my goat barn. Can anyone answer that question for me?
how do you change the wifi when you are camping and want to us your hotspot. it is currently connected to my home wifi. appriciate your help if you can.
You have to reset it and reconfigure from scratch
They changed how the detection settings. Now it breaks the screen into cubes you can select.
Can that cam be setup to live stream on TH-cam?
V3 notification speed is? My V2 is about 19 secs.
I use the tines on a fork to get it in, and out. I have a Wyze cam pan 1 and I couldn't erase the SD card without removing it. It wouldn't format through the app, so I was constantly taking it out and putting it back in... Fork tines. Mine is in the kitchen window, convenient to the silverware drawer.
dude you need to update your Shuttle portrait with SLS Super Heavy Launch System. thx for the Wyze btw, bought one to catch the guy who lets their dog poop on my front lawn daily. Keep you posted.
I guess you got lucky with your v3. All the v3s I am using have this horrible static noise on live view... many others are complaining about this issue, but Wyze is silent about it.

I find many of the firmware updates focus on non camera stuff (shopping / info etc). Otherwise for the price it works great for my needs to co from the side gate is closed.

In the event that you have an SD card in your camera is the restriction only for clips saved to the cloud?
1) Will it save clips to the card whenever there is motion with no cooldown?
2) Will you get notifications of motion or is that dependent on a cam plus subscription.
How can we set it so that it will also record sound in the videos?
Mine records sound by default and I can't figure out how not to trigger recording on sound. I get all kinds of random clips from wind noise.
If I use this to trigger on a light, when motion is detected which brand(s) of smart bulbs will this turn on? Only Wyze bulbs?
If you use Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa it’ll work with most other major brands. Ifttt will work too.
@@LonSeidman So using Google Assistant, I can use the camera as a "motion sensor" to turn on my Kasa bulb? Do I need any other items like a hub?

Been thinking about this WYZE product,going for 2 cameras to start and NOT USE WIFI but plug in hardwire I guess that’s how to explain it…..I have 2 old tablets that we don’t use as we now have the iPhones,laptop,ipads
Could I use the old tablet(s) as a 24/365 monitor so when we’re at home without having to literally touch the tablet we can just look over at it when we see something on the screen

The v2 has been doing a great job, monitoring front of home, especially at night, cam is clear and focused, but audio is cheesy, with SD card, and no subscription fees, and you need 2.4gig to setup!
how to delete motion in bulk recordigs
What no one really tells you is you got to press that setup button hard on the bottom of your camera and it can only be set up to a 2.4 gigahertz bandwidth through Wi-Fi
Be sure to buy a "long endurance" SD card, typical SD cards don't survive more than a year with all the re-writes they have to endure. I have one one that's meant for a dashcam and unlike the popular brand name $15 cards I've used, it still works fine after 3 years.
Can you use this product on a Win10 desktop?
Lon was appeared to be wearing an Apple Watch with a Wyze cam images. How can it be done?
I don't think they have a Windows 10 app.
It's the default you just need to make sure you have your Apple Watch app passing the notifications to the watch.
I use an android emulator’Blue Stacks’ I downloaded the Wyze app from the Play Store and run it on Blue Stacks

On the v2 and most likely the v3 you can get a power over ethernet adapter.
You did not say if it was better or worse than other comparable cameras.
Wyze Sense contact sensors bricks if you let the battery die for too long. :-(

Very nice but I don't want to pay a monthly charge just to detect movement so would not purchase so have purchased a better camera with more features and no charge ezviz c1 you should review it
The motion detection in useless anyway. I tried setting up zones to ignore but get all kinds of clips with nothing in them. Also I get events showing a mailman leaving my driveway but not coming in all the time (My cameras in on the corner of the house pointing down a 250 foot driveway). I have an SD card in case I need to see anything. The online event recording doesn't give any useful data, it sometimes works, sometimes doesn't, and captures all kinds of random events.

But micro usb? Get with the times.
Please be aware that this camera does not record people even if you have a SD card inserted in it unless you pay. Sure, it does record everything for the first 3 months, but you'll need to subscribe to a paid cloud service to keep that functionality. I regret buying 3 and never again be fooled by this company.
