Thanks for the tips greatly appreciated! If anyone is thinking of using self etch primer for bare metal. Raptor has you covered in their line of products as well. Happy spraying! 😊
Nope, you’re wrong. It’s a solvent based paint so it inhibits rust and acts as it’s own sealer. If it was water based, like other bed liners, it wound need to be sealed. But in this case he did it correctly.
I would be interested to know how its holding up because you went to bare metal without using an etching primer. Raptor supposedly doesnt like to adhere to bare metal.
Thanks much for the video. I want to install a couple of new emblems/badges over the raptor liner. Have you done this in the past? If so, what would be the best adhesive to use?
Awesome job, came out looking really good. I'm planning on doing a full truck raptor job in OD green, on my '09 Cummins. Gotta get all the dents and dings out 1st though.
I have a Honda ridgeline how many bottles of raptor do you think you can take to do the whole vehicle it’s black and I want to do it in red I’ve seen some of your work we do a great job thanks
I have a worn out compressor so it fluctuated from 45 to 55 PSI but as long as you keep the same distance and dust it at the end it should come out good.
I sprayed it right after,as soon as I mix the hardner inside the bottle I sprayed it. After the fourth bottle you’ll notice the gun clogging up, so make sure you clean it with paint thinner.
Spray cans doesn’t give you the big texture like a normal spray in bed liner would give you. Spray cans are mainly for touch ups in hard to get corners.
Question . I'm concerned, if i do the work on my entire truck on the driveway , how far the urethane bed liner can blow and stain walls or cars parqued nearby?
You just keep going after each bottle, but don’t add the hardener to all bottles at once because by the time you get to the third and fourth bottle they might be hard. So do each one at a time.
I set it at 50psi but since my air compressor is so old it couldn’t keep up, so it would fluctuate between 40 and 50. I actually like how it turned out. Glad you liked it too.
@motoace2007 it’s just enough for one layer, but I use half of the last can to dust over to eliminate any gloss and give it that matte and even finish.
Any tightly adhering paint can be left alone..use a primer designed to "pickle" tight substrate ,so you can spray on the new coating over the tight old paint..
@@haukepowers8491 for reasons, I had to go to bare metal in about 60% of the bed. Should I prime the bare metal first or spray the bed liner on the bare metal?
Great content. I just received the same U-Pol kit. Question?? Where did you buy the pressure regulator that mounts on the gun? I need one before I do mine. Thanks,
Thanks man. Yeah it was outside the whole time Just make sure the truck is covered all the way, because you will have some over spray all over. I had some in the front bumper but no worries acetone will take care of that 🤙
As a retired shipyard painter, the proper PSI would be between 40- 60 psi depending on the viscosity of the substrate...many high build products use as high as 70 psi , depending on applications.....And wear a respirator...even outdoors, the fumes can be dangerous to your lungs....
Please don’t mislead people when you clearly have no idea of what you’re doing. Didn’t have to take it down to bare metal, and DEFINIETLY shouldn’t have sprayed raptor directly on bare metal. If you for some reason like rust or bad previous paint have to take it down to bare metal, use a good primer like some 2k epoxy first. Also sprayed at way too close of a distance
You did forget primer, (etch or epoxy) Raptor is NOT protect from rust, as they claim! It is very thick material, that you can't see whats going on in metal surface.. hope you are happy for few years.. Good luck
Have you tried to spray Raptor on styrofoam? I've heard most liner sprays will dissolve styrofoam, but I've also seen a lot of cheap ice chests sprayed. Just wondering what your experience is before I drop $100 to find out it doesn't work! TIA
If solvent based, it will melt styrofoam, but why would you want to do that to a cheap cooler? They're made to be disposable...seems like a waste of money...by the time you buy the bed liner, you could just get a decent cooler...invest in a good cooler & you won't have to cover it with anything...
80 grit!?!? You didn't need to literally "grind" the paint down to bare metal, just a good scuffing with 220 grit or a course scotchbrite pad would of been all that's needed. Spots that were ground down to bare metal should of had a coat of etching primer applied before the liner was sprayed on. You shoulda brought the bedliner up over and onto the top of the bedrail so that was protected also. I guess that's personal preference though. :)
Whenever you scuff the paint make sure you dont go all the way to the metal if you do use etching primer to cover the metal surface. That’s it I just skipped a step sorry. Learn from my mistake. Good luck 👍

Great to know.

Looks great. How is it holding up?
The best one I have seen on here. Good job bro
How much coverage can you get from one bottle or the four bottles ?
How’s many coats ???
Nice Job! What size compressor do I need to apply this product?
Do I need to sand if I'm applying this to a new truck?
Thanks for the video and the courage to give my jeep bumper a try
How does the texture feel? Like is it rubbery or does it feel a little more on the harden rubber feel?
Man that looks amazing bro, phenomenal job!
Should I did the bed liner on the truck rails
Came out super clean dude, good stuff 👍🏼
Fatal mistake , all the bare metal should have been sealed with metal sealer . It will rust under the liner and come off eventually.
I would only use 180 grit and red Scotch-Brite Primer Prep Scuff
Rip
I covered bare metal on mine with etching paint.

Great video Brother. Outstanding job. Thar texture is the look that I'm looking for.
I would be interested to know how its holding up because you went to bare metal without using an etching primer. Raptor supposedly doesnt like to adhere to bare metal.
I don't know about it not adhering to bare metal but I do know you should use primer for rust prevention.
Great video and application, one suggestion is lower the music volume. Your voice is quiet in comparison to that terrible music haha
Lol once I uploaded it I noticed that same thing. Sorry 😆
How is it holding up after all this time?
looks great bro
Do you have to use the whole bottle after adding the hardener?
Yes
So how many bottles did you use
I used four bottles, It was just enough.
Thanks much for the video.
I want to install a couple of new emblems/badges over the raptor liner. Have you done this in the past? If so, what would be the best adhesive to use?
Do you clean the air gun between bottles.
You don’t have to just don’t wait too long between bottles or else you will notice it clogging up the gun. Just do it right after the last bottle.
Awesome job, came out looking really good. I'm planning on doing a full truck raptor job in OD green, on my '09 Cummins. Gotta get all the dents and dings out 1st though.

Thanks, 4 bottles should be plenty for your Honda Ridgeline.
Looks great, what PSI were set at to give you the best look?
Thanks, I sprayed it at 50 PSI +/-
How many bottles did u end up using
All 4 I think with a long bed you will definitely need about 5 or 6 bottles.
Good job young man
Thanks
What kind of primer is recommended?
What psi did you shoot at, cause that’s The exact texture I’m looking for
I sprayed it at around 50psi my compressor is kind of old so the psi was fluctuating plus or minus 2.

Truck has been garage kept so as you would imagine still looks new. It’s a great product though.
What compressor did you use ? About to do this but have a 6 gallon compressor at 150psi
Thank you.
What’s the advantage of this over the spray can stuff
Spray cans doesn’t give you the big texture like a normal spray in bed liner would give you. Spray cans are mainly for touch ups in hard to get corners.
Looks nice and clean!
Question . I'm concerned, if i do the work on my entire truck on the driveway , how far the urethane bed liner can blow and stain walls or cars parqued nearby?
You’ll be surprised how far the dust will travel. I highly recommend to cover near by items within 20ft radius at least.
How did it hold up?
It is holding up great still.
How long do you have to wait in between coats? Or do you just keep going as you finish each bottle ?
You just keep going after each bottle, but don’t add the hardener to all bottles at once because by the time you get to the third and fourth bottle they might be hard. So do each one at a time.
You should of used an etching primer after sanding, but it’s a Ford so no big deal, nice job
Dude doesn't know his vehicles, that's a Silverado bro!🤣🤣🤣
