I can not wait to try this. I love tomato basil soup and the fact that you don't put cream in it, is great. As always I love your video's and every recipe I have tried we have loved. Also love your cookbook and look forward to your next one.
I just noticed what you were doing and I hope others did too. You sliced the tomatoes leaving the core on one side, brillant. Me I would be doing double duty thinking I needed to slice right down the middle. Lol...smooth talk and true words didn't cool the soup! Thanks y'all, God Bless!
Cover your basil with plastic. Not tightly. Place near natural light. You’ll find that basil will not only last, but will also produce in most cases. Also, I always salt and pepper my onions as they fry. I find that it brings another layer of flavor that is subtle yet unexpected. One trick I learned ages ago for caramelized onions is to add a slight/pinch of sugar toward the end of frying. This is good to do when using the onions as a condiment on such things as hot dogs/brats, hamburgers, steaks and more. Hope this gives you some inspiration.
Magnificent! would you mind translating your recipe to ground basil. We have had a lot of flooding in our part of the country and all of our best nursery have suffered this summer. your stuff just keeps getting better.
That looks amazing, I can almost taste it! Can't wait till the garden tomatoes begin to ripen and try this. Thank you for sharing your recipe. I never would have thought to put in the crema...have some in the fridge and always forget to use it. Thank you Flo and Dude!
That's a beautiful bowl of soup. Oh dear, how to pin this, pressure cooker or airfryer? Went with the soup board. Love the idea of roasting the tomatoes. Most differently will add cream.
Thank you Flo for making this soup for me. I LOVE tomato soup but never brave enough to make it homemade myself. I'm definitely going to make this. And I'm glad to see you cut that stem from the tomato. It bugs me when I see people cook with tomatoes and leave that in. No one wants to eat that! 😁 Thanks to Dude too for tasting and filming!
I made this and it turned out wonderfully! I’m not a fan of tomato’s but it is good. I added more basil to it and it’s very tasty 😋 I was able to freeze some for latter. Thank you for this video 🤗
Cooking in season. Yum! I loved the idea of roasting the tomatoes, an as you suggested, maybe doing the onions next time. Have you found any good fruit in season to make homemade jelly/jam? I broke down and made yogurt from 1/2 gallon of milk. I can appreciate those that make it commercially. Looking forward to more posts.
I have a window sill full of ripe tomatoes! Just gonna roast them up in the oven! I think I will go ahead and throw in the onions and garlic just so its easy. Just getting over an illness and I am starving!
Earlier today I was thinking of making a grilled cheese sandwich later in the week. This would go perfect it. Have you had the opportunity to try out the Mealthy CrispLid? Would love your opinion.
Hi lovely people .....just love the way you say Basse ill😉 In the UK we say bas ill. Now don't even start on the oregano and tomatoes!!!!! However you say it ,a wonderful soup of the day ,thank you 💟👍👌
We always thought it was Bah-sil when it’s a name like in Fawlty Towers. 😆 And Bay-sil when you’re referring to the herb. LOL! Thanks for the laughs, Bridget!
@@floridalady9308 hi Mary great to exchange laughs on this wonderfull channel.,that just continues to grow.....and quite rightly so.Catch you on the next delicious offering .Bed time here in the UK now shame !....I fancy that soup 🤣take care mary 😚
Just cut the tomatoes in half and pop those little suckers out with your finger. I do this whenever I make pico de Gallo (it makes it way less watery) and it take no time at all.
this looks yummy! Were you aware of the seeds when eating this? I have very fussy grandkids and they will not eat the seeds in tomato sauce or soup. I guess I could do like I did with my kids and say "eat it anyways" but these are grandkids we are talking about! Love you and your recipes! Every one of them that I have tried is really delicious!
Shut up, Flo! It's an oven where I am! I'm *so* jealous that your weather in Vancouver is nice! I'm like you - I have a very small temperature window where I'm comfortable - I'd be happy if it was about 70 degrees all year round! LOL Great recipe! Loved your idea of roasting the tomatoes in the air fryer. They came out looking amazing! I know you'll post this recipe on Patreon and I can get it from there, but I hope you'll include it in Cookbook #2! :-)
I roast mine in the oven on a cookie sheet at about 350 degrees for about 15 minutes. Like Flo said, you can also roast the onions and garlic at the same time. You can also BBQ them and they are really yummy that way!
Hi again Flo. Normally I make some critique so here goes..........perfect. Will make this. Oh sorry it is tomartoes not tomaytoes ha ha. PS I asked a lady I know in Philadelphia (who did not know about you) to tell me whether or not she liked you with the short hair or the long hair. She said the short hair makes you look so sweet with your beautiful smile. Complimentts indeed. Dude is Dude he's the man. She recently had severe floods and was very distressed.Maybe some of your VLOGS will cheer her up. John M (in the UK)
Hi Flo from John M's friend Beth in Philadelphia! I am enjoying your videos and recipes. As he mentioned I love your shorter hair and sweet smile. My house suffered flooding damage in recent storms. Watching your videos has been a nice distraction for me when I take a break. Although I love to cook I have not been doing as much real cooking as I would like between taking care of my home and my Mum's. It's very easy to fall into a rut. I am looking forward to getting back to cooking more. This is an amazing recipe and tomato soup with grilled cheese is indeed comfort food. John M. Is a good friend and a very nice English Gent. I am grateful to him for introducing me to your TH-cam channel!
That is cheap. I bought a small basil plant yesterday, about 1/3 that size and it was 2.99 USD. That poor plant has come to the place plants come to die. LOL!!

Yum! Thanks, Paulla!
Delicious. I'm going to make it this week!
Looks delicious. I have a ton of basil in my raised bed herb garden! Thank you, I know what I am making next week once this heat wave passes!

That looks amazing. I love recipes they can be adjusted to veg or vegan. I’ll be making this as soon as I can get tomatoes from the fruit stand.

Thanks, Ken! Blueberries are in abundance right now and local peaches and cherries will be at their peak soon.
I love the camera quality, which camera do you guys use?
Love all your instant pot vids as well :D

Sweet dreams
Please suggest the best rice for making tomatoe rice soup?
Yummy recipe!
Or keep it a secret, I'm not fussy that way.
I love love love tomato soup but I have diverticulitis and can’t have the seeds. This soup looks so good!!
There must be a way you can make it without the seeds but I’m sure it’s much more work. Maybe a ricer?
Just cut the tomatoes in half and pop those little suckers out with your finger. I do this whenever I make pico de Gallo (it makes it way less watery) and it take no time at all.

Once you blend it all together you cannot tell there are seeds. At least I couldn’t. Wondering if a ricer could help with that?
Thank you Flo😊
2 degrees of comfort cracked me up. I'm usually good between about 35ºf and 85ºf. Anything below 35 and I have to put on a shirt.

Colleen, my ideal temp is 70 degrees, partly cloudy, with a 5 mph southwest wind. We live in Tennessee and it is both hot and humid here! 😊
I love Tennessee! I live in Canada, but I've visited there. You're right, it can get very hot. 😊
LOL! Sorry, Colleen! 🥶
Wow! That is cheap! Oh Flo you done did it now... My favorite soup so thank you so much for this! 😊❤️ Gby
Multiple up-votes! Next soup I make!
How would you cook tomAtoes if I one doesn't have an air fryer?

Flo, what about freezing soup? I live alone.
Great idea!

I wanna eat. Just saying

LOL! That’s me too! And my mom was a florist. However, I was always told to stay away from the plants.
I’m definitely going to try this!
