Very concise as a walkthrough of not just this new core, but RetroArch in general, for beginners. I'm helping to setup a friend with RetroArch and a game library soon, and I was thinking of how to introduce him to RA without overwhelming him... I might just show him this video to be honest lol. There's so many different ways (and boy I have gotten creative) to configure RA that it's hard to keep track of what's needed and what's extra. You did a good job of balancing that.
Now if we can just get a Xemu core, we will have all 4 of the big Gen 6 consoles in RetroArch. Dreamcast, PS2, Gamecube - just missing that Original XBOX. I don't see that happening anytime soon sadly, but still. I like to dream.
The only problem I am having with this core is that no matter what i do there is no vibration in controller for me, i enabled it in game options restarted it, all other cores the vibration is working perfectly fine for me. On PCSX2 the vibration is also working but with this core vibration is not working for me. Do you have any similar issue ?
Do you know if this core supports netplay at all? Also looking forward to you covering the recent CRT simulation added in retroarch 1.20.0, 2025 looking great for retro!
@@Imgema you can measure and record stutter, FYI. Of course I go on "feeling" as well since I'm quite sensible to that. With Vulkan for me, on my setup, on the games you mentioned there was none. So my question stands, did you try with Vulkan?
I did everything exactly as described and also inserted the correct data but unfortunately the retro arch crashes every time and I don't know what to do :/
@@RetroCrisis Not realy but i checkt everything with a friend and the laptop should actually be able to do it without any problems. I can also play Snes and PlayStation 1 games on Retro Arch
I know other cores can do that. I've never done it myself but there was a video on doing it with the PSX core at one point, playing Symphony of the Night. So, in theory, if the core supports the feature of RetroArch to do that... it could work. Of course you can always just rip your games from those discs to .bin/.cue or .iso (and then compress to .chd) and have them digital and available to play.
It depends upon you as a person. If you use Launchbox etc I think that you can set games to load with different emulators, so let's use Skate 3 as an example, if that works on this core, but not on PSX2 then you can use that. It is just trial and error on what you prefer, as you are not going to get a straight answer from anyone. One mans meat, is another mans poison.
Telling someone who's new to emulation to use RetroArch is nothing more than a slow form of torture. Stand alone emulators are far superior. You don't have to deal with RA's atrocious GUI, you get more options, and plus you get to avoid supporting the RA dev who's known for bullying the developers of the cores to port their emulators over to RA in the first place. RA is nothing more than a dark stain on the emulation hobby.
He didn't just tell someone to use RA they made a whole ass tutorial, from installation to setting up the core And not everyone shares your opinion about the GUI And RA has more options than most standalone emulators
@@ilfondale ROFL, you're fucking insane. I've been using emulators to play games since the early early days of NESticle for DOS. I've NEVER had luck with Retroarch doing even the most basic shit such as remembering controller settings and trust me, I'm no novice to this, it's just a terribly made program and the user interface is just terribly cluttered and confusing, especially if you're recommending it to someone who's new to computers in the first place.
"Stand alone emulators are far superior." From a pure UI and UX point of view I can understand that experience and opinion. I left Retroarch alone for a long while because it just felt too overwhelming...these days I only use Retroarch for any console generation before PS2/GC. And now, well, we're getting closer and closer to having that generation become my main on Retroarch too. So I really recommend giving Retroarch a try. There are guides out there to help you get started and used to it (like, oh I don't know...literally this excellent video you're on lol), and honestly I would recommend spending some time just casually looking around the menus and settings and experimenting to get used to it, eventually you'll be converted and realize the user experience isn't really that bad after all. Also, CRT shaders...those beautiful lovely CRT shaders...can't play without them anymore and standalone emulators usually doesn't have anything in terms of CRT shaders. I can't speak on the moral/ethical part of RA though, it's fair if you don't support a devs behavior.

This new core is exactly what I've been looking for in PS2 emulation. Upscaling but it still looks like a PS2 game.
@@matsunami this IS what should be any emulator

I am delighted with this version I can finally play GTA San Andreas without having the ghost effect in the game
The future is here, looking forward to a hypothetical Retro Crisis PS2 shader
Great guide! I'm still not using retroarch but I appreciate having these guides available 😊
I'd say just take the plunge and just download Retroarch, You don't have to learn all the settings at once just learn as they're needed
@ I did just add it to my SNES Classic 😂
Any plans for a CRT shader for the PS2? Lottes CRT cleans up UI nicely but isn’t quite perfect.
ojala llegue algún día
Wow so fast! Excelente 😁(Awesome 😁)
Thank you!!!
This is great, love your channel and work!
Can you make a video about Blurbusters CRT emulator they added into Retroarch?
another amazing video! Thanks!

You have a new subscriber, clear concise, no waffle and no american accent.
The other points I agree with you, but what's wrong with an American accent?
using your retro crisis shaders with lrps2 on retroarch right now!!! cheers 😎😎💎💎
What's the setting to fix that annoying double image we used to get with earlier PCSX2 releases?

thank you for the video ! ❤👌😎👍
Nice one mate very useful as always And great for Tech illiterates like myself 😂
even path of neo works now 😁
Unfortunately, this new core introduces bad frame pacing with 50hz PAL games.
Oh I didn't realise. Which game did you have trouble with?
@@RetroCrisis WRC 4 and CMC Rally 2005, both PAL games. They run fine on the old core with VRR but in the new one there are frame pacing stutters
Does this happen with Vulkan as well? Because seems fine to me - had a check with the title you mentioned and I see a flatline!
@@JS2123-m9x Don't focus on the flatline. Focus on the actual games, they will stutter.

So what kind of spec does my PC need to be to run this well?
what's the benefit using this over PCXS2?
edit: before someone brings it up, besides shaders
