What games are you going to try remastering first? Do let me know of any amazing texture packs or mods I should check out and they may be featured in a later video! ❤
@RetroRenew Thanks for mentioning my GT4 hd hud pack! I just wanted to say that an improved update for it is coming soon, so anyone that is interested in it, keep your eyes peeled for it
I just subscribed. Looking forward to more tips ans contents from you. Also a guide for added texture packs for the newbies would help for different systems
Love the vid man. I've known about texture packs for a long, long while now, but this video might be the tipping point in trying them when I get a new PC.
i thought bro would teach me how to do the process of remastering or upscaling textures, but no. bro just showed me how to google search and download them from someone, like my ahh didnt already know that. waste of time.
Not everybody knows. But hey, I’ll tell ya. For pcsx2 at least it has a feature built in to dump textures. The texture must be on-screen to capture it, so that can get a bit daunting but of course if you have enough dedication you can manage. PS2 is weird where textures have half opacity resolution, so the A channel caps out at 128. Most of the time you’ll need to run the image(s) through a tool that will double the A channel of each pixel. Imagemagick can do this, as well as a python script that’s out there. At that point it’s up to you to have the image editing skills to replace the texture with something better. Many people opt to simply dump tons of textures and then run them all through an ai upscaling algorithm, but this simply cannot match with something properly hand-drawn.
"You Can Remaster Games Yourselves Easily Now" Proceeds to not remaster a single thing himself, just downloading premade packs. Nothing like a good ol' bait and switch.
Others have said the same and the new title wasn’t doing any better so I’ve changed it again to hopefully better reflect the contents of the video. So sorry about the confusion!
Nice video 😊 I really wish they’d integrate Reshade as well, or some basic functionality. Spiderman was a good example of missing some effects. It looks sterile. It was fine at the time. The low resolution and the CRT TVs masked most issues, but some nice distance effects would make this game look much better.
@@RetroRenew i'd just think that the next game should finally be about Ratchet, Rivet, and other Lombaxes Ratchet's encountered to be finding their kind. Although it's unknown of where Angela Cross went in RaC 2.
No offense but if I have to pick between sloppy AI crap and the original textures, I'll go with the originals. People should really study the process behind making textures that are faithful to the originals from scratch like Nerrel did for Ocarina of Time and other games instead of cheaping out on what should be a labor of love.
imagine if a BUNCH of PC gems or even some released part 1's (talking about Insecticide) got RTX remixed and so on... if only some games in the past when being done on PC got all the way finished
I personally wouldn't recommend AI Upscaled Only texture packs as an "improvement" and "the best way to play" because they're straight up just lazy, and terrible in quality. It's alright if some elements are upscaled, for example the environment textures (mainly bcuz they're farther away and not as noticeable), but if I see any text, UI, portraits, etc. that are just AI upscaled and haven't been touched at all then it's just as lazy as running a prompt into ChatGPT and asking for it to print an essay. There's just no passion, no soul, no quality with just an AI upscale.
Ai upscaling is not that great. Especially on such low res textures where the ai doesn't have much informations to work with. It can deliver decent result if the art direction make it easy to interpret the suggested details and if A LOT of time is spend to painfully rework everything by hand afterward... But most of the time you end up turning a beautiful game from 2004 into something that look like a mid looking game from 2014 with weird graphical glitch everywhere that you can't ignore. These textures have been carefully crafted by dedicated artists to work with specific rendering technics and resolution and I think we should respect that.

@@RetroRenew Title is perfect and fair as of now, good vid.
Bro. Thank you for the spreadsheet! I've been looking for a compiled list of texture packs! Subscribed.
great vid!
I love finding a channel before it reaches 100k subs 😊
Maybe one day!
That’s a great reminder! Great video
sad thing is that Neversoft's/Activision's GUN HD remastering pack is complete but only for PS2 and not PC
At least we have it! ^^
I have a feeling you're about to blow up.
If that's the case, congrats on being blessed by the algorithm.

well made video, I hope to see Max Payne texture updates!
Why don't they use non ai based magnification filters instead like xBRZ of HQ4x that are made for video games and would likely look more consistent
@WHYNOTONY If I remember correctly I think a few do and they definitely look a lot nicer
All i need is Nvidia DSR to play games at 8k + the new RTX HDR feature
No WinBack in the list.
One of the best games ever made, and no love.
That makes me a saaaaaaad panda.
ssx tricky still looks best on ps2 hooked to a crt
just finished RaC Rift Apart today (second playthrough since first one with a cracked and my second was with my legit steam copy)
Loved rift apart so much!

ChaiNNer
remaster your old games and make them look like no-effort slop that tramples on the original art direction and adds inconsistencies en masse
How to remaster batman arkham origins pc
You have to try Rosa's project for GTA San Andreas for PC, is something very similar.
I’ll give it a look thanks!
