I am an audio-visual learner. I used to live and fish the Chesapeake Bay and NEVER PAID FOR FOOD! Now, I live on the west coast. Wedged between a beach and bay. I'm learning how to work these tricky devils. Thank you for all your information and outstanding shooting!

@@HeySkipper, yes I get my son and niece to catch them while fishing radio island here in NC, catch alot of puffers and croakers, but I let them keep the big ones to play with. Also a bit of salted anything keeps the little buggers on the hook. Love the channel and keep on catching man. Life is good. Hope you guys are staying safe , much love from NC and DE.

His second fish was a Drum, (as he said,) related to Cob in SA and Mulloway, -in Australia.
USA, - Red & Black drums from shore.
Freshwater Drum species in USA, some say not as nice as sw Drums.
They all have large otoliths, - ear balancing stones!
"sand fleas" are mole crabs! 🎣🐟🎣

how i've always caught them is when a big wave recedes, it pulls the flees out of the sand, so as soon as the water is gone you see a bunch of holes where they burrowed, just pick up like a 2x2x4 inch hole near the wholes and you will find one. if you have a shovel just scoop up that bit of sand and throw it in a bucket, then do it with a bunch more holes and then sift it. they also make sand flee rakes which are pretty much just a crab trap with a stick on it and you pull it through the sand. these work well too.

    Awsome fishing video!GET HOOKED

  • @The_Judge300
    @The_Judge300 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Great video again!
Just a few comments that might increase your bites and hookups.
Firstly at about the 6:10 mark, I see your father using 5 hooks and all seem to have the same bait and bait/hook size.
This is close to pointless in my opinion, unless that option is by far the best to get the fish you want at that time.
When you use multiple leaders/hooks rigs, it is by far the best to use different baits and/or bait/hook sizes.
That way you increase the chances for bites.
You should have the largest hook/bait closest to the sinker and then have smaller baits/hooks the further away from the sinker you go.
By having different kinds of bait and bait sizes, you give the fish more options and you increase your chances for offering the fish what it wants the most.
Another thing I often see you do, is overcrowding your circle hooks with bait.
You might not realize it and many don't, but you increase the bait stealing and reduce your hookups when you overcrowd a circle hook with bait.
You should NEVER almost fill up a circle hook with bait as you often do with a J-hook.
If you do that with a circle hook, you hamper the circle hook's ability to "hookup" the fish that bites.
The less that is hanging onto the circle hook and filling it up, the better it hooks the fish.
Don't be tempted to thread on 2 sand flies+ a piece of salted clam and maybe some more on a circle hook as I saw you did at about 4:00.
I know you catch fish that way, but I am sure you would get more hookups by using less bait threaded on your circle hook.
One trick I often use when I want to use bait that is loose and easily fall off, get stolen or is difficult to get attached to the circle hook without overcrowding the hook, is a netted elastic bait bag that I attach to the circle hook with a thread/line, in a similar way as a carp fishing hair rig.
I specially use this bag if I want to use fresh mussels and/or clams as bait, or when I want to use multiple baits on the same hook to avoid overcrowding the circle hook.
I often make these bags out of the elastic plastic bags onions often are packed in here.
I am sure it will work great when you want to use sand fleas as bait as well.
I also very often use this hair rig when I want to bait with fish heads or whole fish.
I highly recommend that you try not to be overcrowding your circle hooks.
I also highly recommend that you try using some sort of bait bags with a hair rig.
And lastly I highly recommend you trying to use a hair rig when using larger baits like a fish head or a whole fish on a circle hook.
I promise that you will increase your hookups a lot.
And what can be better than that when you are fishing?
Looking forward to your next video! :)

We don't have those sand fleas here in the UK but looking at hem, I can't help but feel that a bait band is the way to hook them.
