She wrote this song in her early 20's during a cultural shift, which may have influenced her early perception of relationships. Did she get married and have a family??

Francesca fell in love with Felix Flankin. :) Fans of "Mad Monster Party?" know her work in that movie ... dialogue as well as Francesca's two songs. Very sultry. This lady has a great voice-- whether singing or speaking.
Just saw her in an old TV episode of "Have Gun Will Travel" season 6 called The Debutante. The episode was about an elderly wealthy woman living in San Francisco looking for her long lost granddaughter (Garnett). Paladin found her in some old mining camp dump run by a man posing as her father like figure. He had in fact "bought" her years ago when she was a lost child left without parents after they were killed in an accident. This was Gale at her absolute prettiest. While watching this episode I thought she looked familiar, but I just couldn't place her, so I eagerly awaited to see the ending credits. I was REALLY surprised to see that it was Gale Garnett. I thought she did TV roles only AFTER the popularity of her hit single in 1964. However, this role was done in 1963. In fact she was an established actress on TV well before her great song. I last remember seeing her as a druid priestess of fertility (acting as a doctor she stole pregnant women's daughters-boys got discarded) almost 30 years later on the TV version of "Friday the 13th." They let her use her sexy husky voice, which was a dead giveaway. I didn't notice anything about her voice on HGWT; they may have used a voice-over I don't know. In those days some directors thought a husky female voice wasn't feminine enough for TV or movies; Claudia Cardinale was often dubbed in her early years because they considered her voice too husky. That same voice became sexy years later. Then again, the above talk with Dick Clark doesn't seem as low as I've heard Gale before, so I don't know if she was dubbed on HGWT or not. What is certain though is that she was as pretty as pretty can get.
Her first acting credit was on the drama series "Hong Kong" with Rod Taylor in 1960, and she was acting as recently as 2011 on an episode of "Flashpoint".
I saw that Have Gun Will Travel episode too, last night, and Googled her as the name sounded so familiar to me. Yes, the gal with the big hit song in 64. Apple music has her record with the Gentle Reign for download. Some good some not so good. I agree with the comment that she should have taken a shot at blues singing instead of emulating Grace Slick.
She is well put together, an accomplished singer, actress, writer and great entertainer, multi talented, gifted and beautiful, I can listen to her voice and go off to sleep...zzzz zzzz zzzz
