This episode is a PERFECT example of that
Alicent is truly so much more fleshed out in this show and i'm here for it!

It's crazy that the scene where Damon helps Viscerys with his crown was improvised. Emmys everywhere
It's such a great moment & says so much about him.
I would bet all the money I have to my name that it was not improvised and wherever you heard that from was solely to promote more media hype around the show. This show was perfect but you’re kidding yourself if you think he wasn’t told to do that and they somehow perfectly recorder the scene that way 😂

@@grahamduff7383 I mean it's not a one shot take so obviously they probably did some editing with other takes but I can believe the crown fell off Paddys head and Matt Smith rolled with the scene and did what he did. Also they are shooting from multiple angles at a time quite a bit I imagine so they may have just picked it all up. Unlikely but possible.
19:18 Aegon is also a Dragonrider, his Dragon is Sunfire, and he was one of the Dragons that was in Driftmark in the previous episode (More specifically the yellow/Gold one that was on the ground)

@@texaszed9834 Yes, and the Dragon is called Dreamfire, is one of the oldest Targaryen Dragons , even older than Caraxes from Daemon and Meleys from Rhaenys. I'm not sure, but I think it's definitely the Dragon that Aemond encountered in the depths of Dragonpit in the episode "The Princess and the Queen"

I cried during two moments of the episode, the first is Rheanerya pleading to her father and that showed how strong Emma is as an actor and the other scene is when Viserys enters the Throne room and his walk to the Thorne and Daemon putting the crown back on his head.

19:17 AEGON is also a Dragon rider. His Dragon is SUNFYRE "The Golden" which we saw on Driftmark. it was on the hill , right above the place everyone were staring at each other.
Aegon is said to be smaller , like many older brothers are shorter than younger one in Real life. Also he doesn't train like AemonD.

It's just that everyone in Team Green is very dysfunctional in a highly entertaining bluth-roy sort of way, whereas Rhaenyra married her cop uncle who got kicked off the force, and now she's a boy mom. Yes, Vaemond was dumb as hell for how he approached the succession... but he is 100% right. His house is 100s even 1000s of years old just like the Targs, for it to be snubbed out due to bastards would be infuriating. Disappointed in them not showing Aegon and Helaena as dragonriders. Both were true Targs that LOVED their dragons.

Dan is mistaken - Prince Aegon II is a dragon rider. His dragon's name is Sunfyre, which we briefly see sitting on the cliffside during Laena's funeral. Aegon used to bully his little brother relentlessly because at the time Aemond hadn't bonded with a dragon yet, while his big brother & two younger nephews had bonded with theirs already. Remember the scene when they presented Aemond with a pig? That was part of the taunting he used to get from his brother which always caused him to act recklessly by constantly trying to bond with a dragon. We see an example of that with the scene in the dragon pit when Dreamfyre scared him away. The two younger boys (Jace & Luc) just went along with whatever Aegon said otherwise they'd get bullied too. One of the reasons why Aemond is so much more formidable now is because he took all of his training seriously over the past 6 years, both as a rider and as a fighter with lessons from Criston Cole. Aegon wasn't interested in any of that. He just wants to drink himself into a stupor & bed as many females as he can in a day, whether they are consenting or not. He is basically Joffrey Baratheon without the psychotic greed for power to rule over people. Aegon just wants to live a life of a spoiled prince of the realm without any responsibilities.
That previous scene with "The Pink Dread" when Aemond was younger comes back into play when the servants place the roast pig on the table right in front of him. Luke smirks at remembering that incident & that sets Aemond off to "toast and roast" his nephews by calling them "strong boys".
Aegon is no way like Joffrey, he's more like Robert
Fun fact: Matt Smith improvised picking up Viserys' crown. Apparently it fell off and he walked over to pick it up, so they decided to keep it in.

I think Rhaenys wanted to side with Rhaenyra this episode but knew that the Hightowers would choose Vaemond over Luke and to seem strong she didn't want to back the losing party so declined Rhaenyra's offer and would rather stand alone. But when Viserys turned up everything changed because she then knew it was possible for Rhaenyra/Luke to win, especially when Viserys gave her the floor to speak, she had the opportunity to back Luke and accept Rhaenyra's offer in front of the whole court to ensure it happens.
I don't think in book it was stated that Aegon raped someone ,but he do sleep around with servant girls like most princes his age who has power over subjects,
so I don't know why they showed Aegon being raper.
I don't think servant is allowed to say no to a prince or king, at this point Robert Baratheon was not better than Aegon.

Aemond looks older because that is how he is supposed to look. He grew up training and taking everything so seriously while his brother did nothing of value Aemond is described in the books as taller and older looking than Aegon he is supposed to be around 19 during this episode and the actor is in his mid twenties there is also the theory that dragons influence their riders and it happened with Aemond to the point where it physically aged him because he is riding the largest and oldest dragon in the world

Yes; in the book "Fire & Blood", the book on which the show is based, Viserys was a jolly, non-confrontational hedonist, not a man eaten up with grief emotionally and disease physically. The TV writing and acting of the character is brilliant; Considine is perfect. I can't hate Viserys because he is so strong in his love for Rhaenyra, but he really, really messed up with his neglect of his younger sons and not reining in his second wife...And his scenes here are magnificent...

The reason Aemond got pissed was because Luc was laughing at him. He was laughing because of the pig that was placed beside Aemond. When they were younger they bullied Aemond because he didn't have a dragon. They played a cruel joke on him by giving him a pig, they called it the "pink dread".

I wept through the crowning, by Daemon. And if rewatch their scene is ep 1 where Viserys bans him, it’s so emotional now…it was the but in hindsight you see Daemon say “brother I’d defend you and protect you.” And he was so sad that Viserys said he wants half the man Otto is. And Daemon never forgave him. So it was a beautiful moment seeing him help him and crown him.
There was definitely sexual tension between the princess and the queen in episode one. The actors confirmed they toyed with the idea.
Aemond had me dying at the dinner scene. He was like: "I was born, so I ruined lunch. And I had fun doing it." LOL. I can't lie, I love the energy he's bringing.

I love the brief scene when Viserys is walking in and they flash around to everyone's reactions. Most of the faces show disbelief, shock, concern, & maybe even a little fear... But Helena, being so innocent & good natured, is genuinely happy to see her daddy because she loves him like Rhaenyra does. Helena couldn't care less about the reason why they are all assembled in the throne room. And yes, it is wise to pay attention to whatever weird nonsensical stuff she says...

In EP4 when Alicent suggests Daemon visit the museums, look at the decorations and tapestries...and Viserys thought he was being so kewl giving her the "lol wimminz" laugh on Daemon's behalf? Viserys looked like the pathetic kid hanging around the class bully, looking for his approval. Well it's those same tapestries Daemon didn't give af about are the same ones he is crying about Alicent removing in EP8. What a loser.

The dinner scene is a masterclass of building trepidation through melancholy. Viserys watching the kids in a last dance before the Dance. Fleeting moments of bliss. Everyone hoping for the best, expecting the worst. For something so uneventfully peaceful, the passing was one of the most foreboding & viscerally filmed deaths I've seen. Book Viserys also doses off to the great beyond in his bed, after telling stories to grandkids. The king who was most unlike Aegon the Conqueror in life ends up being most like the Conqueror in death.
Ok enough jokes. Now the serious stuff. "You're no son of mine" - Alicent getting crossbowed in the loo on mother's day confirmed lol. Next up is The Green Council...Cue the Hoes Mad beat 😤!! Our religion, tradition & patriarchy upholder Queen Mother & our redpilled Homelander King will make Westeros great again🙃 /s.

When i watch reactions i usually skip the intros and close the videos as soon as the episode ends, but your conversations are so interesting that i end up watching the whole thing.
Like Ryan Condal said in the BTS they did a great job of showing how much the Red Keep and by extension King's Landing has changed under Hightower tutelage. When we startrd, it was such a lively place bustling with life and color filled with Targaryen erotica, dragon erotica. Now it has the feeling of a stern, austere monastery reflecting the temperament of the queen. It's heartbreaking watching the princess and the queen trying to futilely make amends with an insurmountable gulf between them. They did have a real love and friendship with each other at one time. They always tried to move themselves away from the precipice. They were driven there by the men around them. But alas it's too late. The poison has spread too far. The young kids who do not appreciate the history that's gone into this and what's at stake, kicks it off. To the health of my nephews, each of them handsome, wise and Strong!

Ewan Mitchell is born in 1997 so he's going to be 27 this year. HOTD was released in 2022 - so he was 25 then

Yes they are pretty evenly matched, Criston is canonically a better fighter than Daemon and Aemond showed he is capable of beating Criston despite being so young.
@@Tlevids Exactly! Both Aemond and Criston are slightly better fighters than Daemon is. However daemon is a superior Dragon Rider than Aemond is. Under Cristons tutelage, Aemond has surpassed both Criston and Daemon.
Side note: What makes Criston coles victory over daemon even more impressive, is the fact that Daemon was welding dark sister and still lost.

Hahaha, not quite. Ewan Mitchell as Aemond, is only 25 playing 19, I believe. Out of costume he does look more his own age, but because of how rigid and restrained Aemond is, the way he plays him definitely makes him feel older. Tom Glynn-Carney, who plays Aegon is actually 2 years older, at 27. Which is genuinely hilarious to me because Olivia Cooke (Alicent) is 28.
This episode remains my favorite of the season and that throne room scene is my all time favorite GoT moment. I have never cried so hard. I was a disgusting mess and continue to be every time I watch it. 😭🤣
Isn’t Aemond supposed to be 16? I know he’s 19 in the book but I’m pretty sure he wasn’t born before the 10 year time skip so he cannot be more than 16-17
@@slayerr3086 this is my biggest problem with the show. They fucked up the ages hard. The show runners themselves said the kids were between 17-21. Then they tell us Luke is 14. Which would have made Luke 8 when Aemond was 10 and Luke was definitely NOT 8 in episode 7. He was like, 6. I'd believe 18 for the lowest for Aemond. If I think about it too long, it breaks my brain. So I just stick with book ages for the most part.

Maybe when the show runners said 17-21 they didn’t count in Luke because he didn’t have much screen time and won’t be alive for the following seasons? It could make sense with Aegon being 21 Haelena 19 and Jace & Aemond 17-18. But then again, Aegon said Viserys had 20 years to name him heir implying he’s 20 so… Maybe he was just rounding it off? Honestly I just accepted that whatever the show runners do it will never add up lol

It could have been 7 or even 8. Which would work a little better with Aemond's age. 18/19 is where I put him. I can't possibly go younger. I'd say Jace is probably 17. It will make me spiral if I try to really think about it. 😬🤣🤣🤣

I remember visiting my great grandmother at the nursing home, and I couldn't form a good connection with her because of how scary the environment was and the state she was in. I remember her asking my mother (her granddaughter) If I hated her. My mother explained it was just the nursing home and the environment that I saw her, and she understood because she wasn't happy, so she understood that for a young child it will be scary. Now that I'm 21 I do wish I spent more time with her and was more compassionate.

Man what a crazy time in Westeros, Viserys and Raenyra managed to erase their last true allies from Valyria. This is led to all the other houses figuring out their own ways to get rid of the targeryans. Bless the hightowers for their sneaky ways. The Targeryans are nuts lol .

King Viserys, the peaceful. The one who brings the Targaryen clan together yet also tore them apart at the same time at the end of his reign. The tragedy!
When that guy says she's this and her children are bastards with that shaky scream I got to say every person I watched react to this series so far has had a similar shocked reaction but I want five seconds to watch it to capricated at least five times every year I doubt after saying that word he didn't even have time to know and you know I have heard when decapitated like Ned Stark your head you're still conscious for a couple of seconds someone who is decapitated a couple hundred years ago there was a doctor there who said his name right after he was decapitated and the head looked at him before slowly closing his eyes
*Viserys: I love you all dearly!! Also Viserys: My Only child!!* He kept saying let’s get along & proceeded to keep doing everything to make sure that’s impossible. Viserys is the real villain of this show. Viserys knew what Jaehaerys' council would've wanted him to do. He knew having a male son after stubbornly naming his daughter heir would create an impossible situation. He knew his favoritism towards his daughter would naturally fester resentment on the other side of his family. Viserys knew what was gonna happen and kept doing it. He won his own crown that way. People forget he and Daemon were preparing for a civil war because the other claimant Rhaenys was a female. Viserys himself was "elected" king over a female, how hypocritical is it for him to trample on that legacy. Seems like the viewership can't compartmentalize between "loving father" (to one child) from "absolutely terrible king who made one bad decision after another". Viserys was the definition of Nero playing with his Lego set while Rome was burning from the fire he started. It's ironic that these seemingly 'fake' emotions at the dinner was actually the most authentic we've ever seen them. It was the only time they were NOT putting on their masks. It shows that without the line of succession and primogeniture and all the other royal madness mirroring what existed in medieval Europe, these people could've been really good friends. But the system they lived in destined them to murder each other. It's like being born into rival blocks in southside chicago. You don't have much of a choice. The dinner sequence makes for so much regret and despair cause it was a tiny window to what could've been. It’s the gossamer’s thread slipping away from their hands. They all knew it was the last moments of solitude, but at the same time they probably did briefly delude themselves into thinking "maybe, just maybe things will work out". They’re all unwitting participants in a tragic theater that’s about to unfold.

I disagree with the show being blacks propaganda. They do all sorts of despicable things, like Daemon killing his first wife then taunting her family over the inheritance, Rhaenyra and Daemon banging at his second wife's funeral, Aemond's eye being stabbed out by one of Rhaenyra's sons without them showing any remorse or attempt to correct the harm done, them murdering an innocent man in order to marry, Rhaenys killing scores of commoners with her dragon at the coronation etc.

I've seen so many people defend Vaemond, claiming he stood for truth...but I never got that...He stood for ambition, just like his brother...And Corlys even expresses as much later.
His argument ended the second children became engaged...The name would survive through the boys and blood through the daughters...His whole argument no longer held water.

I understand Vaemonds point but at the same time he made it seem like he wanted the driftmark throne because he was worried about the ending of the Velaryon line, which I don’t think is true. If it were true, then when he heard that his grand-nieces (daemons daughters), Baela and Rhaena, were going to marry Lucerys and Jacerys that would have confirmed that his bloodline (the Velaryon bloodline) wouldn’t have ended, seeing as Baela and Rhaena are true Velaryons. Plus Rhaenyras sons are half Targaryen, so their children would be Velaryon and Targaryen. That should have been enough for him if he was really worried about his family line ending. So I honestly think that was his excuse just because he wanted the throne for himself and tried to take advantage of the fact that his brother was absent due to injury so he thought he could go against his wishes. But he wasn’t wrong about calling her sons bastards it was just the way he went about it. You can’t go before the King trying to tell him that he can’t make decisions over your house (which he can because he’s the fucking King) and commit treason by calling out Viserys, his grandsons and his daughter in that fashion. He should’ve been smarter in playing the game/ his attempt to getting the driftmark throne. On top of that, he also called Rhaenyra a whore which was completely unnecessary and incredibly disrespectful. So his death in that moment was inevitable!! I knew Daemon was gonna kill him the second them words left his mouth.
The problem with that argument is that it doesn't fix anything for Vaemon or any proud member of house Velaryon in the short term and forward, only in the very long term... Baela and Rhaela are going to be what every high lady is in relation with their husbands: decorative side peace only there to pop out heirs... Them, being the only ones with TRUE Velaryon blood, would NOT be the ones running the house or making the decisions; it would be the 2 bastard boys at the command of Rhaenyra mostly... So for many many decades, House Velaryon is going to be lead by 2 openly and widely known and considered bastard boys who are basically claiming ownership over everything that belongs to the family... Not to mention that, given that EVERYBODY knows they are bastards, house Velaryon is going to be the butt of every joke of every other house and high lord in the realm; they already are... There is just no way any proud member of this ancient house if going to be ok with that... Also, we gotta remember that Vaemon, as well as other members of the house, are working with the assumption that Rhaenyra had Laenor killed in order to marry Daemon; so not only they don't like her at all, but also, how far fetched would it be to believe that Rhaenyra also used the "removal" of Laenor not just to get married but also to fast track her sons rise to the Driftwood Throne by removing the last "true heir" of the house; and she is doing all of this in order to secure her control over their house, their resources and the strength this represents to her own position and desires.
So yes, what he did was dumb and he might've had a level of self interest, but he wasn't wrong and it is quite honorable that he stood his ground and sticked to the truth, which nobody else did... You said that he should've played "the game" better; but playing the game would inherently make him a bad person, given that the game itself is shitty... The reality is that everybody playing the game is compromising their morals, the truth, doing awful shit, etc; their bad people playing an awful game that makes them become even worse people... Rhaenys, for example, you can say that she was "Smart" when she changed her stance when she saw how the situation shifted in that moment; but it also makes her incredibly unprincipled and shitty given the fact that EVERYTHING that Vaemon said and complained about, were things that Rhaenys herself thought and held to be true... She said the same thing to Corlys almost word for word, and she held THE SAME opinion about the situation; not just of the bastard boys but also about the "wrongness" of Corlys views and wishes... So yes, she was clever playing the game, but that also shows her as a shitty person that is willing to let others pay the price and compromise her own opinions and what she knows to be true in order to achieve her own gains, which ever those might be.

I still don't get the comparisons between Alicent and Cersei. Just because both were Queens? Their personalities aren't even remotely like each others! Cersei was a spiteful hateful bitter c word who only loved her children and nothing else. Alicent is bitter and hateful too sure but hers is more anxiety filled paranoia from her father gaslighting her all her life, we clearly saw this episode she still cares about Rhaenyra and in the near future we'll se that even more. If it was Tywin Lannister's daughter Viserys would've been dead years ago and so would Rhaenyra and Deamon.
