I don't know if you still see these comments, after 4 years of publishing it, but thankyou so much for your thoughtful and insightful explanations of the Juno DS capabilities! Very useful and very much appreciated.
I’m wondering how versatile this feature is. I’ve seen four different videos with this guy trying to sell how “fun” the vocoder is, but he always shows the same three sounds. Makes me a bit suspicious. And I’ve noticed that people describe something as “fun” when it isn’t very useful or effective. I remember that the Dodge Neon and Ford Fiesta were called “fun” in ads. He calls the vocoder “fun” seven times in this clip. Does that mean that it is a silly gimmick that a serious musician would never use? Has anyone out there used this feature? I’d love to hear what you thought.
Talk about a real buzz-kill, Dude. Does everything always have to be “useful or effective”? So this great keyboard isn’t allowed to to have a “FUN” feature, maybe for playing around at a party? For all the hundreds of fabulous features these Juno DS models have, you gotta squish the fun-factor. Ughhh...
tunedude24 Sorry, I wasn’t trying to be a nit-picker, I just wanted to get a clear idea of what the machine can, or cannot do. I do find that Roland is not as clear as some other companies when it comes to features, which can be frustrating when you are trying to make a decision. So my comment was a sincere question that I was curious about. In the end, I actually went and rented a Juno and an FA from a music store so I could learn what I couldn’t online. I wish Roland had a hotline where you could ask questions without wading through chat rooms and videos.
The mic works fine when I directly connect the keyboard to an amp. But when I put it in the mixer, I only get the reverbed output of the mic, no dry input at all. is there any easy way to deal with this? anyone else having the same issue? I am very clueless any help/suggestion is appreciated
I want the reverb off but when I turn the reverb off the mic doesn’t work at all and I can’t hear myself at all. It’s like I am completely stuck on reverb. Please help!
Mine won’t work I just bought a new mic and it works on a separate recorder so I know the mic does work but when it’s connected to my keyboard it doesn’t work
can't tell what is happening at 3:13 are you talking each time you touch a key, can't tell. Needs to be explained better. And Roland thought this was a better feature to include instead of programmable arpeggios? ugh.
I am so disgusted with Roland. I have had a Juno Ds for more than a year now and I am still struggling to connect it to Ableton Live. One would have thought that they would be able to come up with a step by step process on exactly how to do this. first opportunity I will ditch it and buy something else.
1) Make sure that you’ve downloaded the correct driver for your operating system 2) In Ableton: Options > Preferences > Link/MIDI 3) Then: Input > Track Button for your specific controller (turn ON) > Press any key to make sure it works. That should get you going! 😊

Vocoders will never ever stop being cool 😍
"Phantom power", "Dynamic Mike" - I feel like watching/reading/experiencing a Marvel comic 😆
Top video - exactly what I was looking for - thanks!
Gonna have some fun with this west coast style.😁
I would have liked to see a little about auto-pitch.
Yep, he mentions it but I didn't see how to engage it or hear it working. Guess I will figure it out when mine arrives.
Thank you Sir, My DS will be in next Tuesday
Can you record a vocal and make it part of the loop?
came to this page for the same question. I don't understand why it's so hard to find this answer
I also would like to know.
@@ohbuehler7863 me too
I could use some explanations of the parameters in the vocoder..>Mic Sens etc. These aren't very well explained in the manual
Now where can i find A suitable Mic headset similar to the One in this example? Tried My Marshall Major headset but without any greater progress... ☹️
Look at the RE-3 from Electro Voice....It works wonders in this setting!!!!
I have a Juno DS76- am having trouble finding compatible headset mic for the vocoder- any suggestions?
The cable you specify in your video for the headphones has a special connector that is not on just any headset you buy so not "any headset" will work.
But you can provide phantom box for your condenser right?
Very cool!
Is it possible to apply vocoder to part of the keys(i.e. split mode)
What’s your microphone? Pls
It sounds good with any mic
Besides Reverb, What other effects are there available for vocals?

No workaround on the phantom power thing? Some kind of interface or something?
Can I record the mic input? Harmony?
Can it support lapel microphone?
where is the link for the headset?
But when the words aren’t distinguishable, what’s the point? That’s what someone has to answer if he or she considers this feature a deciding factor
Truth Troll strong point
Ask sound wave from transformers...
Can anyone recommend a good headset mic?
The Shure WH20QTR headset microphone.
Electro Voice RE-3

Wait seriously? That’s so messed up. Now I’m scared to try one on mine and it’s brand new
