Thank you for this video. I bought the Juno DS a few months ago but couldn’t figure the pattern sequencer out. This was a great explanation and demonstration. I’m going to try it.
@@ThePianoPriestess Sure I will. I started out every day and then got frustrated so it’s been 2 months since I touched it. Your tutorial has given me the desire to go back to it again.
Great video but can you use it as background in a live performance to look as though you're doing something. i.e for the Money for Nothing intro, have the strings and the arppeggios on the phrase pad but be playing the synth lead bit live?
Absolutely - especially in a live situation, it's good to have at least one thing pre-sequenced so that you know the tempo will be right and match up perfectly with the loop sequence.
Quick question. Can u loop your voice by microphone with the others sounds everything together and save it? I sing so I’m trying to figure it out how can record my voice though the keyboard together with all the loop melody. 🤔🎉
Great question! I'm also figuring that one out. No, as far as I'm aware you can't. Though you can put the microphone through the keyboard and use certain vocal effects live, I haven't found a way to live record that into the pattern sequencer. Though you could record the harmonies separately (in a DAW) and upload the audio files onto the pattern sequencer that way, and loop them - but not live recording through the piano. Good luck!
Hi , thanks for this video. I have a simple Q. My old yamaha which probably didn't even have 50 % of the DS features, was able to record any song (with 6 different tracks) on the on-board sequencer. So I could easily record upto 6 tracks and the length of each track was easily more than 7-8 mins ( I didn't check the limit but I could record on and on for several minutes). Then I could use that song with all 6 tracks mixed and play in the background while I am playing live another instrument for example. This was possible without involving any USB or a computer. I found out that DS has an on-board sequencer which can record patterns but only upto 8 measures? So is it not possible to record an instrumental ensemble, which is rather long (say 10 mins or more)? It's hard to believe that JUNO DS will have this limitation that my 15 year old keyboard did not have. Or should I look somewhere else outside of sequencers? thanks
Hi there, the pattern sequencer can only record 8 measures this is true. The functionality is strictly for looping - and not intended for storing recordings of entire performances. I usually get around this by plugging the usb into my laptop (or output into my audio interface) and recording into my computer. This is usually better for the project ongoing anyway since you can edit it within the Daw.
@@ThePianoPriestess thanks . That seems to be a good workaround. Do you have any instructions or a video demonstrating how to record a song with multiple backing tracks played from the keyboard and then record them on to an USB , which can then be played as a backing track along with live performance? Much appreciate the help

Thanks, that was really helpful. I've just purchased the Juno DS61
Ooh awesome! Sure you'll have fun with that. Check out some of my other tutorials/tips for more piano things!
Fantastic tutorial. Thank you. 🙏🏻
Glad you found it helpful! Good luck with the looping.

Glad to have helped! It's a super fun board with lots to explore. Tell me your fave synth sound when you find it ;)

thnx for this tutorial 🇳🇱
Thanks for your great video. Do you know how to get the Effekts going while using the sequencer?
Yes good question, I'll add this to the list of future videos!

How to quickly delete and redo a take while trying to record a loop?
Hiiii. Thanks for this Q - I'll do quick vid for this next!

@@TheCreativeComposer I do not - but this is something I want to delve into. Watch this space.
Can we load our custom rhythm pattern in this keyboard?
Hi, I'm not sure sorry! You can create rhythm patterns in the sequencer, so there's probably a way to upload them through the usb insert.
The arpegiator can cone up with some excellent drum patterns.
