Also i want to state that on your Router the 2.4 GHz band provides coverage at a longer range but transmits data at slower speeds. The 5 GHz band provides less coverage but transmits data at faster speeds. So if your get this issue always use the 2.4GHz for now. I did test this out and im sticking with 2.4GHz for better coverage of my WiFi for my devices.

Excellent video for the lay people out there, I was able to follow and understand. I was having the exact same problem you were, excellent Wi-Fi speed on my mobile devices but not on my laptop but good speed also on my Laptop when it is wired directly using Ethernet cable. My router is connected to a wireless bridge with a cat5e cable. When I try to use laptop wirelessly the speed drops to about 1/3 of what it should be. I tried your procedure but the speed is still slow. Any suggestions, any help would be appreciated. TIA,

well i can say its normal as WIFI speeds are not greater than wired. make sure your Router is downstairs, check with your supplier of Broadband if all settings are correct and what device priorities can be given and upgrade laptop/PC to a better spec

Thanks for the video. Unfortunately it did not solve my problem. After 3 clean installations of windows and drivers I stumbled upon a thread where someone mentioned that using a USB extension might solve the problem. And it did. I couldn't believe it. Somehow the fact that the USB is plugged directly into the motherboard affects the performance severely. Some kind of interference?
I tested it repeatedly with the same result. Directly plugged into the PC, no WiFi, but using a simple USB extension made all the difference.
Hope this helps someone else.

There wsn't any real info on the blog. Just a guy complaining of slow wifi speeds when plugging his dongle straight into the usb port on his PC, but having much better results when using an etension. Turned out to solve the same issue I was having. Very strange. Still don't know what's causing it.
