This film really lives up to the channel's description of providing immersive documentaries. Really enjoyed it all, from the scenery right through to the admin and everything in between.
What an amazing documentary, I can show this to those to help them understand the emotions and challenges that are endured. Well done for never giving up, so inspirational.
Brilliant, thanks for sharing this. The shot of jelly babies on the ground at 35:37 gave me chills. I've been to places like that and it so poignantly conveys the darkness of the mind at this point in the effort. Sorry about the DNF, sounds like he's got a good shot next time!
Nice film thanks. PS. I'm doing The 2 Moors Way (Devon North Coast to South Coast) 105 miles FKT UNSUPPORTED in the spring if you wanna tag along. Should be pretty interesting crossing 2 National Parks.
If someone meets you on the route, it might become Supported per FKT guidelines. Just beware. Direct quote "Spectating in person by friends, family, or photographers is supportive, and thus not in the spirit of this style, and will be classified as Supported starting February 4, 2021". Good luck in any case!
@@iterato1 James attempted this as an unsupported record attempt, we know about the FKT guidelines but wasn't going for an FKT, just going for a record.
Huge effort. Well done. You'll get it done, I have no doubt. Loved the honesty and the checkpoint admin timer. Very interesting. Looking forward to seeing you complete it in 2024
Mate, you'll eventually knock it off, I do long distance motorcycle events and I've DNF a few times and it sounds very clichéd but you learn more from the failures than from the successes and it only makes you stronger and the successes that much sweeter. Thanks for posting an honest account of your journey. 😊👍
Brilliant video you show how tough it really is. It brings back painful and beautiful memories to me. I won't lie, I had a bit of a cry at the end of the video, seeing you crying on the grass. (I KNOW that feeling! )

Nobody documents the loneliness, darkness and monotony of a long ultra quite like kelp & fern. Definitely more honest than inspiring (which i love)
Appreciate the kind words, I love what you have to say and glad you're getting something a little different to the norm out of the films.
Thx James for sharing your experience. Best from Austria, Alex

No problem and thanks for watching! Yes a very poignant moment for him, it seems even the Jelly Babies gave up at that moment.

I ran 100km of that route last year, there is actually a short film on my channel about the journey, send us an email and all the best!
Amazing I'll check it out thanks..👀 and yes will do. 🥳

@@KelpandFern yeah, I figured. But I was commenting on this thread here -- for @mathawkes benefit since that was stated as Unsupported attempt.
Nice one James,👍🏴
Awesome. Always so good at capturing what these feel like without needing dialogue.
Thanks a lot!
Beautiful. I didn't want it to end. Thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Tough luck on not finishing it, still a great achievement and a brilliant little film, loved it

What tracking device is he using.
I don't know from which company but I myself just used a track.trail tracking device that worked the same.
