Cute hungry Quokka noisily raiding our trash bags on Rottnest Island. Beautiful! This video is for sale! Interested parties please contact antdoyle@live.co.uk
The quokka apparently is only found on Rottnest island off the coast of Perth Western Australia, they were once common on the mainland but became easy prey from dogs and ats introduced by European settlers, as has been said, they are not Rodents but marsupials closely related tot the Wallaby, the carry their young in pouches.
2-Feeding wildlife from or near vehicles is dangerous to animals, people, and property. Animals can be struck by moving vehicles or attempt to enter vehicles in search of food. In Yosemite National Park in 1998, over 1,100 vehicles were broken into by black bears-causing more than $630,000 in damages.
Reproduction rates may also be affected when an artificial food source is readily available. In the wild, the number of animals being born is often directly related to the amount of natural food available. The number of animals surviving will also depend on how much food is available. This is nature's way of keeping a balance.
Animals who learn that people are an easy food source often lose their natural fear of humans. Feeding that causes large, potentially dangerous animals to become accustomed to residential or recreational areas is of grave concern. Once wild animals learn that they can panhandle for human food, conflicts, nuisance behavior, and risks to human (and animal) safety will occur.
they can become dependent on being fed from humans and lose the ability to find food for themselves. also excess food means their population will grow past the island's natural carrying capacity meaning it will be harder to them to obtain other resources like drinking water, nesting/sleeping sites due to competition from the excess quokkas etc. etc...
The only place they live is on Rottnest Island, which is 20km into the ocean from Perth, one of the smallest, most isolated capital cities in the world.
LOOK, an evolutionist having a munch while he pleasures him(er)self with some evidence of random food that appeared from forces out of nowhere! Naw, I'm just playing. LOL, wonderful creature: A funny looking marsupial with a seeming comical nonchalance. Great vid, thx.
SO CUTE! I will smuggle a pair into my country, and keep them as adorable pets! If they get too large or exhibit behavior I am not comfortable with, I will simply release them into my local forest so that they may live their lives out with no natural predators to worry about and... ....oh, wait. Never mind.
It makes me happy that such adorable things still exist =)

Why is it...
That I smile watching animals eat food this loudly, but want so hard to punch people who eat like this?
The mystery of cute mammals...
wow ok i have a new favorite animal
Anything that can holds its food while eating is cute in my opinion! These are obviously wild but have they been domesticated as pets before?

Normally, I would agree. But I think this one is innocent, for in the description it says the Quokka got it from the trash.
Can these be like pets? Or they're just wildlife?
