There's an episode from Doctor Who where the Eleventh Doctor brings Van Gogh to the present. The curator, while not knowing Van Gogh was there, explained how a terrific artist he is, and Van Gogh (along with the viewers including me) cried. I like to think this actually happened and even before he died, he knew how much he would be loved and celebrated.
Aamina S and that's why these alux showed up here cleaning his ass...if not who would care this poor artist..and especially alux.com..the place which inspires future billionaires but cannot become one ...and came here to inspire future billionaires..😂😂
Its not that dissimilar to some others like the person who was the person who created the programming language that is the C Programming language, those who came later, Jobs, Gates etc stood on the shoulders of him. He could have made a fortune out of the language but he released it for free, was really just developed for developing the UNIX OS entirely, but then expanding upon it much later with what other developers have done. He actually died did Dennis a little earlier than Jobs sadly and yet no one knows about him.
Piece of garbage, his early work was amazing, starry night is a scrabbled garbage and van gogh said himself its a failure and he wasnt satisfied in the slightest with starry night and other art works he did when he was in mental institution.
The Starts Night painting is my favorite too. I kinda didn't get the hype on it in the beginning when I first saw it as a kid, but NOW after going through some problems that painting has a deeper meaning to me. The painting is so calming and dreamy, it calms me down and it definitely has a sense of sadness to it. I think maybe that's why he didn't like it, bc he painted it on the sense of how he was seeing the world. Which is why there's a lot of spiral circles and squiggles. To him everything was an optical illusion at that time in asylum
There is a theory that he painted that painting while in the deepest throes of madness (he painted it in the mental asylum) and that the painting is his altered view of reality.
Swarna akshya Same, he got the same birthday as me 30th March and he had a lot in common with me. Its an honor but there is something I found quite unsettling about it though. The thing is, when I was really young I found myself to have deep passion for arts. I always draw or paint as it's like a part of me. But the bad thing is that im also pretty mentally fucked up and had contemplated suicide. At school I was getting a "special care" from the counselors because they're afraid I might harm myself again.
As a fan of Van Gogh for many years I find this video rather annoying. Sien the love of this life and an affair with Gauguin: I don't t think so. Is it important to know what some paintings sold for and where they range in the list of most expensive ones? By sensationalizing him you do not justice to him. If people want to know more about him, take some time and read his letters.
Thanks for putting this piece of trash into perspective, I was more than annoyed, as an artist who spent time studying Vincent and his style, it was an insult to hear these twisted stories and speculations.
if you'd read his letters, you would understand why calling Sien the love of his life is probably not out of bounds. He cared for her in a way that he rarely expressed for anyone else in his life. As for the "affair" with Gauguin, well, that's just pure speculation, as is the recent (pretty implausible) theory that he was "murdered."
Well, in his letters he writes that they were not in love, that he saw her as a 'help-meet', and she him as a provider. There was never romantic love there. The girl in London could be put in the "love" column, and he had a couple of youthful infatuations, but I don't think he ever found a woman he cared enough about to call a "love of his life". I think he thought he had time...
it's true he never called it "love," but he writes of her and her son very warmly, and it's clear he cared for them both very much. it's as close as he came to love and his dream for a family life in his whole life.
It's so sad... 💔 He is really struggling... Both on his financial state and his mental state. 💔😢 When all he ever wanted was to be understood and be loved. 💔
And pray tell. . . . Who is alive today to corroborate that THIS gun is THE gun. There is no proof of anything suicidal. Please people, let's stop being yellow journalistic boobs!
Vincent was a troubled man... It's sad to think how lonely he really was, people were cruel and jealous even. Idk it just hurts to think that he isn't around anymore for me or for anyone else to support him. He will forever be remembered and loved by all kinds of ppl around the world ❤
Before I watched this, I watched his story... I felt a certain connection with him, I felt a very heavy feeling. I can't help it but to cry... knowing that he desperatly want to see the brighter side of life... every painting is so alive, u can feel the feelings and emotions that he put into it.
There was nothing mentally wrong with Vincent Van Gogh. He was simply a sane man, born into an insane world. With an obsession for expressing that dichotomy through his art. May he find the peace in the next life, that eluded him in this life.
The paintings of Vincent are very colorful and beautiful. I think that all this paintings were made with passion and love, moreover he reflected the kind of world that he imagined. He was a great artist.
The last theory is the main theme of the recent film Loving Vincent and I highly recommend it for any Van Gogh fans, the art was gorgeous, the cast phenomenal, and the story heart-wrenching. Also the Doctor Who episode Vincent and the Doctor is amazing as well.
Well that's really to bad,... I suppose you think every language should have words in them where it sounds like you are clearing your throat or snorting like a pig.
Not only her voice but this sells pitch rich people B/S has to go!!! If this lady had a one on one face time w/ Vincent he'd probably punch her out. After he gets laid or not!!! LoL
Thank you for sharing the life and legacy of Van Gogh. I know what depression feels like. I’m just glad to hear that he is the happiest when he’s creating art. 😃 He has a deep sadness in his eyes. 😢 I feel his pain, sadness and happiness when he’s creating art. We watched the recent Lasting Impressions here in Montreal and they featured all the art masters during the Impressionistic Era. I cried when they started showing Van Gogh’s paintings. He was tortured because of his unhealed trauma, his mom dismissed his primal need to be connected to his family. I feel sorry for he suffered so much. It must be hard. Thank goodness for his brotherTheo who supported him during his short life. We can see how his depression affected him due to a lack of support from his family and society. Thank you Van Gogh for inspiring us all through your life and art. ❤
Well my father Hendrik van Gogh is descended from Vincent's Uncle Hendrik, but we haven't named any of the boys Vincent. Thx for the interesting video.
My friend owns a Vincent painting given to his great grand parents in 1888 and held by the family since then. Never publicly displayed. Top art experts have confirmed it is genuine. Called "Lighthouse at Sete". Sailing boats in the harbour provides a beautiful scene. I am seeking self portraits of VG if anyone knows of one on offer.
true, he got some acknowledgement while he was still alive, from his peers and some journalşsts. He was literally on the verge of seing his own success. If he could only live a few more years...
I was privileged to view the Sunflowers at the de Young museum in Golden Gate park San Francisco CA when I was a young child in school in Berkeley CA , we went on a class field trip my teacher was Jewish and took us to see ballet opera and symphony at Davies hall, she said " she wanted to expose us to the classics"

3:03 Just paint he has used pencil when he was a child because his mother was somewhat of an artist or self well retired, his mother had them (everyday) draw in their sketchbooks. It was a daily task for them but Vincent enjoyed it. Just putting this out there because he did indeed do art as a child
Loving Impressionism and Van Gogh, I asked a local artist to try to replicate Starry Night in her style. She did a wonderful job and we have it hung in our great room, under a display light. When my wife and I ventured to Auvers-sur-Oise Oct, 2014, to pay homage to Vincent's and Theo's graves, we walked through the fields Vincent immortalized. Unforgettable experience.
Akira Kurosawa created a film called Dreams which had six sketches in it. The one about Van Gogh impressed me the most. I had a love at first sight on his painting 'starry starry night'. I couldn't get it out of my head since the day I saw the painting. Lately do I know that the paintor of it was suffering ALSO from depression.
I first learned of van Gogh in 4th grade when we studied great art works of the world. The first work we studied was Starry Night! I couldn’t take my eyes off it! I stared and stared!! Great video, thanks. Irises, no doubt is my favourite. The colours are sensational. His work is something I cannot stop looking at. But I don`t know why, and I never will.
I really love Van Gogh's Starry Night 💙💚💛💜💓 It has been my fave old artwork since then that's why I made it as my FB cover photo. On the other note, I also set it as my desktop wallpaper until my boss noticed it and asked me, "Isn't that Van Gogh's art? Why did you set it as your background? He's crazy that's why he cut his ears right?" I wasn't even able to defend myself and it's sad that they regard Vincent as a crazy artist in a negative sense. I really wanted to tell my boss that time that there's more to the artist himself that made him notable and outstanding among the old artists. But then, nothing has changed to me, Vincent is still my favorite artist. I just hope I can defend the artist the nextime someone's going to belittle him. 😊
Van Gogh was such a talented and prolific artist. At least, now he receives the full credit he deserves. Thank you for the video and the extra fact at the end)
#1)The photo of the man at 1:35 has been proven not to be Vincent. The photo at 1:42 has been proven to not be Vincent but his brother, Theo. #3)Untrue-Vincent drew quite often from his childhood till his death. #4)The love of his life was likely not Sien-he stated in his letters he had sympathy and feelings for Sien but not as passionate as his feelings for his cousin Kee Vos- Stricker. #14) Vincent wanted to start "a colony of artists." Inviting Gauguin to board with Vincent was the initiative of his brother Theo in order to help materialize Vincent's ambition for said colony. The term"electric" in this reference during this time period denotes hot temperaments not "sexual attraction ".To quote Vincent -"Believe me that I sometimes laugh heartily at how people suspect me(who am really just a friend of nature,of study,of work-and of people chiefly)of various acts of malice and absurdities which I never dream of".
This is an outrageous attempt at institutionalizing one of the greatest artist and probably the most amazing painter ever to exist on this planet. A man who loved the ecstasy life could bring and who tried to capture this ecstasy for other more "normal" people.
i really believe that Vincent cut off his ear because there were voices speaking inside him and that he wanted to not hear them anymore. The arguing between the other artists triggered him and he ended up cutting his ear.
Actually, he met a brothel maid who was mauled by a rabid dog and burned to stop from bleeding to death. So her face was horribly disfigured. Many of the men that came to the brothel laughed at her and he wanted to show her that he felt her pain and tried to draw the attention of the men to himself. :)
People who hated/hate hate him shall eat rough dirt left after rain, which isn't even enough for them to feel a singlet pain of such good a man with so much admiration. Out of humanity, please.
These were probably painted during moments he had no assignments. He had to study the face for possible new portrait assignments. Rembrandt van Rijn is by far the best artist I know.
Selfie is a modern invention created by the modern invention: cell phone with special lens. A self portrait is hardly that. Poor analogy in an otherwise interesting well-done video.
In high school the art club went to see a Van Gogh. A day off school sure I went. And it changed my thoughts about art. I was mesmerized. The paint on many of the pieces was so thick it looked like you’d get paint on your finger if you touched the painting. And of course Starry Night just took my breath away. A day that even at age 72 I have never forgotten how lucky I was to go on that trip.
He sent his paintings to his mother, who threw them under the house. If not for his sister-in-law saving them, we would have lost most of Vincent's works.
He and the golden age of advertisement have the most influence on my art. What a brilliant man who could express his emotion into art. 💙☄🌠💙☄🌟 I find creative introverts to be my greatest role models.
I really liked the way you put the sign/label over the painting you were talking about. That made it easier to appreciate the painting. Great thinking!
@@jujusunshine Me too!!! He really had a tough life and suffered from loneliness and mental health issues 🙁 i wish he knew how appreciated and famous he became after his death 😌
if u are artist and still alive ur arts price is very cheap but when u died ur artwork will be one of the expensive in the world... thats the meaning of life as artist
The most recent find is a stunning full portrait of him by a young lady artist called Jeanne Donnadieu. She was his close neighbour when Vincent and Theo lived on Rue Laval (Now called Rue Victor Masse) He wasn't famous in that time period but there was obviously something about him that intrigued her. She named the portrait "L'Incompris" and what a perfect name that was! Absolutely beautiful portrait in pastels, of Vincent from top to toe, and an absolute investment! What a find!!

I feel such empathy for this poor man.
This guy got me inspired to paint again soon 🖌️🎨🖼️
The Starry Night. My favorite painting ever. I dare not try to express why, because a comment box will never be enough.
Thanks for the video Alux.com.
Your pronunciation of van Gogh is so funny to hear as a Dutch, no hate ❤️
My American-ear is struggling too! Each time, my nerves reply!🙉😆
I love you unconditionally because I love myself unconditionally
Poor painter, I respect him soo much :,(
the fact that he started painting at 27 of age gave me a sense of relieve
my paintings are influenced by VG
he is my favorite artists.
Van Gogh was such a talented and prolific artist. At least, now he receives the full credit he deserves. Thank you for the video and the extra fact at the end)
painting is not perfection image..it is the bit of the heart, mind huge imaginations and speak of one soul.I am proud painter.
I live in the Netherlands ❤
I love Vincent van Gogh 😁😁😁
PS. I Paint to😁
did any1 ask?
This is an outrageous attempt at institutionalizing one of the greatest artist and probably the most amazing painter ever to exist on this planet. A man who loved the ecstasy life could bring and who tried to capture this ecstasy for other more "normal" people.
i really believe that Vincent cut off his ear because there were voices speaking inside him and that he wanted to not hear them anymore. The arguing between the other artists triggered him and he ended up cutting his ear.
Knowing someone with bipolar, yeah that's highly possible actually
Actually, he met a brothel maid who was mauled by a rabid dog and burned to stop from bleeding to death. So her face was horribly disfigured. Many of the men that came to the brothel laughed at her and he wanted to show her that he felt her pain and tried to draw the attention of the men to himself. :)
Sad but sweet.
Ah yes, the go to illness of the imaginary world of soap operas. Please indicate your proof (expertise in this regard) of this.
People who hated/hate hate him shall eat rough dirt left after rain, which isn't even enough for them to feel a singlet pain of such good a man with so much admiration. Out of humanity, please.
I think you'll find that Rembrandt was the Selfie King. Look up how many self portraits he did
Almost 100
A day that even at age 72 I have never forgotten how lucky I was to go on that trip.
im writing a whole exam about him cause his story is so sad and meaningful it really makes me cry I got the right theme for me
He sent his paintings to his mother, who threw them under the house. If not for his sister-in-law saving them, we would have lost most of Vincent's works.
He and the golden age of advertisement have the most influence on my art. What a brilliant man who could express his emotion into art. 💙☄🌠💙☄🌟
I find creative introverts to be my greatest role models.
Beautiful presentation of the Life of Vincent Van Gogh
Love the Irises !!!
The starry night...
I really liked the way you put the sign/label over the painting you were talking about. That made it easier to appreciate the painting. Great thinking!
So much of this video is wrong. Dr. J. Louis Vasquez Phd. Artist and Art Historian.
The doctor who episode is epic I cried like a baby and I have loved Vincent ever since
An elitist channel which has videos knocking the poor is making a video all about a starving artist
how are they mocking the poor???
For anyone dealing with depression this is an example that things get better .... hang on, life is beautiful. You are loved.
Any Son Chaeyoung fan's here?? She really love Vincent Van Gogh artwork
I'm 27 and I'm barely learning to paint lol so random, I never knew. He's one of my favorite artists
Ooo guess I'm a future billionaire
Oml
I'm watching this while crying cuz Vincent's story is sorrowful.
im writing my whole exam that is 12 Pages long and im literally crying about his life story it really feels sad to me
@@jujusunshine Me too!!! He really had a tough life and suffered from loneliness and mental health issues 🙁 i wish he knew how appreciated and famous he became after his death 😌
@@houdastitou99 oh yes but sometimes the greatest people need to suffer too
People this is serious I want to study the art and life of Van Gogh where do I start? Any recommendations??
Lust for Life by Irving Stone.
Several videos on TH-cam show Vincent's methods.
Great Channel!
The first selfie-king would be Rembrandt Harmenszoon Van Rijn, google him.
Orion X Exactly my thought!!
Selfie? Poor analogy, but funny. Did he have a smart phone or a canvas and brushes and paints. Who could use those for selfies?
Ignorance reigns when we elevate it to arrogance. . .
I really want to hug Him so much, and tell him that he wasn't worthless. I wish Time machines existed :(
*He is the selfie king*
Now that made me happy
It's silly, but can make you laugh, lol!
if u are artist and still alive ur arts price is very cheap but when u died ur artwork will be one of the expensive in the world... thats the meaning of life as artist
It’s pronounced “gof” not “gghj”. It’s Dutch
Are you made a video about NIKOLA TESLA
Vincent never wanted to make money.. he wanted his paintings to be loved and understood by people
Please make one of Frida Kahlo.
