Beautiful! I have a question as I am new to this whole clay crafting. What is the purpose of the slab on the back? Is it necessary to do that? Without it what would happen? Thank you for all your videos ♥️ great work!
Very pretty. To be clear, this is not a cane. With a cane, every slice is the same. You have created a mix of clay and foil, creating a very nice veneer.
thanks for the clarification! I guess the cane shape and cutting of the cane shape made us think this qualified as a cane. I'll have to find an artist to give us a true cane tutorial - but nontheless, this one is great and a fantastic tutorial to learn from
I have noticed that earring makers either drill holes in after baking or punch holes in prior to baking. I have yet to determine a preference. Why is it that you prefer drilling the holes in afterward?
Either way should be ok, they both require practice but I do prefer drilling the holes after baking. I feel like you're less likely to mess up the earrings that way & it keeps its shape better.
Hi loved it!! But is the liquid sculpey absolutely necessary to make the canes? Can you just use the clay in pieces and make the cane without anything? Don’t the clay stick together? Can I use acrylic paint or mica powder instead of the liquid sculpey??? Thank u!
I love love LOVE these! I am trying to find a cutter like what you used for the one that looks like a drop shape, but it has a wavy shape at the bottom. These are darling! But I haven't found information for that cutter yet. These are so nice, I am glad I got to see your work, and thank you for sharing! At 12:11 it shows the shape on the bottom right. Where could I find one like that? Thanks! I will try your technique.

Looks beautiful! Is the translucent back necessary? I'm just curious the purpose of it since it kind of hides the design on the backside

If you want to get completely technical about the technique it can also be called a chop cane either way is pretty
This is beautiful Tfs
You’re welcome!!

drilling after baking results in a cleaner look and doesn't distort the clay. but either way can be done

The liquid clay really helps bind the cane together, so I haven't tried it without the liquid clay. but you could give it a shot!

Do you coat them with anything to protect gold foil
You can! A sealant like polycrylic or resin works great
Is that just regular gold leaf or something specific?
When you hold your slab on translucent clay after that how many times you roll your clay in pasta machine?
Whats the oven temperature and for how long??
Did you put a gloss on these?
I will ask her!
How long do you bake the clay?
about half an hour or so
