If you're at war and you hear this from the other side. Go home.
Date: oh so you play the drums , what kind?
Her : War
And they said there's no such thing as a music sport. This looks like you need full stats in stamina, concentration, rythm and memory. I'd die ten minutes into practice.
especially the daaaaaaaaaaaaaaam MEMORY
All music requires stamina.
And look at the stance 🤣
OUT-FREAKING-STANDING!
I couldn't agree more!!! Except I wouldn't make it past the first 5 minutes lol
i’d fly to japan just to hear something like this live
There are tour groups that perform Taiko. I go see one in Seattle every few years.

I started watching this while drinking my morning coffee... Now I'm in medieval Japan and my village is being attacked by the Minamoto clan.
All these comments about military and war when the song is about fertility and the sea. 🤦♀️
List of people you don't want to play Beat Saber against:
1. These guys
Everything was alright, then the fire nation arrived...
Japan: where the music nerds and the jocks are the same people.
No wonder they're so fit; the performance alone is a workout, can you imagine the practice??
Now I completely understand why Hans Zimmer was so attracted by the sound of Japanese drums. They are so powerful and yet their playing is filled with harmony
If there's something I've learned playing in orchestras is that musicians love to rush. The fact that they're keeping tempo without a director or metronome is prasieworthy.
Can you just imagine the physical endurance it takes to just stand in the position they are in not to mention the extream focus?
Felling like standing over the walls of Ba Sing Se and watching the approach of Fire nation forces.
yessssss
I went to several shows of a company of Japanese drummers like these at Edinburgh festival.
They vibrate the air in your lungs whilst you are captivated by the precision of the drummers.
I'll never forget it.
I'm guessing those ladies don't need help in opening jam jars.
I don't know how i got here. But i enjoyed my visit. :)
Yup
same bro
LOL...
Same here!
Me too:) (with love from France)
i can relate.
Imagine the acoustics from the beating of the drums passing through your body with every single strike; AMAZING!
I think this is what my dog hears in her head when she sees a squirrel
This is why my boss doesn't let me pick the music at work 😂
Look at how muscular they all are!! They’re like musical warriors! This is badass! Usually they say band is for nerds but every single one of these musicians could absolutely beat someone else up 😂
this is not only music, this has a complete choreography. Damn, I love Taiko recitals.
Theyre so Synchronized. Their Stance. Their voices. Its terrifying.
*I want more*
The way that they move kinda reminds me of earth bending
It’s not just an orchestra, it’s a dance
both
01:24 The guy on the far right is so powerful, he doesn't even have a drum but it still makes a thundering sound.
I played this to my dog, he now a nine tailed fox.
School teacher: all right boys and girls, what do you all want to take up during summer class?
Boys: Karate!
Girls: Music!
Teacher: Say no more. Sends them all to Kodo training
TH-cam algorithm you did it again
Japanese culture is fucking awesome.
0:30 You're a foot soldier heading for war and hear that coming at you. Say your prayers.
03:10 You think they're gone, then you hear a faint thump....
04:28 sounds sharp, calm before the storm?
04:58 Echoes through the environment, off hills, through trees...
5:35 Oh lawdy they comin.
Kindly, please. Perform a set for 2020 Olympic Tokyo. Thank you.
babe: honey can you put something on so my parents dont hear us
me: dont worry babe i got you
The discipline to execute this synchronisation of drums and humans is a monumental task and hats off to the people of the land of rising sun!!
I would love to see this on the Olympics aperture ceremony.
“The sound of the drum dispels thoughts; it is precisely for this reason that this instrument is eminently military. "
well done
I was stationed in Japan in the 1970s. I loved these drumming exhibitions. You FELT the drums with your whole body.
Pay attention to their legs. Could you hold that stance for more than a minute without your leg muscles cramping up?
These drummers are athletes.
Just finished Ghost Of Tsushima and the wind guided me here.
Must be incredible to witness this live, imagine after the performance your whole body would be just like 0_0-o-0_oo-o-0o
This makes me want to battle someone to the death.
everything in traditional japanese culture oozes the power of discipline
10:12 my man has no drum but is still insanely precise and controlled
The discipline, coordination and choreography is almost scary in its focus and precision. Really impressive.
Death poses (you just need to take a look at those arms and legs! These guys seem to be training like olympic athlettes!) the synchronization is amazing, the power of the voices included to the power of the drums and also amazing audience that waits patiently till the very end to applaud with all their heart.
Amazing performance from the participants till the audience! Have nothing else to say! Speechless!
Powerful primeval drum beats…. At 68 years of age I’ve decided to take up taiko drumming. It’s not enough to only listen. I’ll be taking my three year old granddaughter with me on her first musical journey.
A rabbit was hopping through the yard when I played this.
He immediately changed his name to Miyamoto Usagi.
Incredible! I just wish the camera had remained panned out the entire time, the choreography was meant to be viewed as a whole....they are like the water, the ocean waves as they move. So incredible what humans joined together in art can create, it's exponential...
I took a class in Taiko drumming, and it is exhilarating and HARD. Every tiny movement is deliberate and conscious. To be there in person is thrilling, to be playing the drums is heavenly.
Do not fear the soldier that goes into a battle with a gun instead fear the one going in with a musical instrument.
Play this at the olympics
They all look like waves with their drumming. I get why its called fertility of the sea, its such a wonderful art
It's music.
It's art.
It's amazing.
I wanted this to go on for another hour.
I let my cat watch this, now he's a lion.
I fell down a rabit hole and was not disappointed
Being a drummer myself, this thunder stirs my soul! 🥁🥁🥁👍
*The sound of thundering war drums fills you with determination*
They all have Legs of Steel
I can say I've seen this exact routine here in New Zealand at the cherry blossom festival in Nelson. One experience il never forget see. You feel it more just being able to see it live. The vibration just flows through you and every beat hits you like a thunderbolt.
This was so utterly satisfying. The symmetry of it all, the synchronization, the crescendos and decrescendos like the waves of the sea, their perfect posture and choreography and their aesthetical fit bodies. I could have watched them until death do us part. I want to be there. It's like the embodiement of perfection.
I feel like im ready to battle someone. YEAH ! LETS GO!
the stance is aggressive. the arms and movements combine grace and strength.the harmony of the beat is not harsh on the ears. Wonderful !!!
I haven’t seen or heard anything that powerful in a long time. Honestly, it caused me to sob. In a good way.
So the Japanese army has arrived?
No sir, they just sent their drummers ...
Taiko drumming is the most badass percussion genre in the world. None of that drumline fluffery. Just pure explosive energy under purposeful control. And when it is unleashed, there is no other sound that can match it. Thank you for sharing this!
I REALLY wanted to take taiko lessons when I was growing up.. but my parents said no. Now I am in my late 40's and kind of wondering if you really can teach an old dog new tricks. This is so amazing!
Am I the only one who think this is very beautiful?
When you forget to bring your drum, and the instructor makes you perform anyway...
#GuyInTheRightCorner
Me as commander: "FALL BACK, EVERYONE FALL BACK!!!!!"
Not to diminish the talent that's here, but I think an anime about taiko drumming should exist now.
The Japanese people are just in a league of their own when it comes to musical performances, not a single country beats them
And this is just 14 people, Imagine thousands of them doing this
Wat
Performances ... perhaps but music as a whole probably the middle east, they definitely know how to make music better anybody else, its no wonder that most musical instruments ,even those believed to be european like the bagpipes orignate from the middle east.
An astonishing display of discipline and power. A wonderful performance
Don’t know what’s going on here but it makes me want to fight to the death
Sometimes i didnt even realise there were hitting the drum bc every move looked so smooth goddamn
The sound of an oncoming army of Samurai...
I was looking for fast paced, powerful traditional japanese music, wasn't dissapointed
this is so epic
Every single one of them could absolutely beat me up
And I would like it
This is so magical, I'm completely astonished by the sound, the coordination, everything. Not to forget the physical strength they need in order to perform this👀
Is this a university competition? These kids aren't just musicians but athletes too.
Very impressive.
In my school of “brilliant” students, no two drums would be in sync.
I feel like this is less about the music, and more about the ridiculously well-synchronized choreography... Looks pretty awesome
I can see why the need to have dummer in the battle in those days...This is like Viking berseker mode in music
Dude, can you imagine the sheer amount of practice that goes into something like this? That's amazing.
2 people beating the drums in time is impressive, this is beyond amazing.
this is how i see Japanese... extremely hardworking people with amazing history and dedication...
These Japanese drummers worked with sticks like with the Japanese Tanto short swords, too professionally, like real Japanese samurai, or practicing Kendo, Kenjutsu.
Their work shows a great concentration, a battle cry with Chi energy. All stances and body positions correspond to classical Japanese martial arts schools (jutsu).
Great job!
Thanks for the enjoyment!
I like!
Great work!
With the stance and all I always want them to start earth bending..they never do though :(
amazing
this is so cool. as a Native American/Aboriginal/First Nation person, I have huge respect for the Japanese. Sending my Japanese cousins good vibes.
