- Queen Elizabeth II, the longest-reigning modern monarch in British history, redefined what it meant to be a monarch and navigated a tremendous amount of change within her family, country and world. Born in 1926, she ascended to the throne in 1953, and reigned for over 7 decades before passing away at the age of 96 on September 8th, 2022.

She might not be the longest reigning monarch but I think her story is unique and special. It is the quality that matters not the quantity.
Requiescat in Pace, your Royal Highness. I remember, before the internet, my European Oma loved the queen-and so I would see pictures in her magazines sent from Europe, and listen to the stories. I traveled extensively around Europe much of my childhood, ended up teaching school in America. I took students to Europe- and they loved England. The passing of the queen brought back many memories. She was a historical icon.
You are/ were a schoolteacher in the USA and condone the monarchy?
As a retired teacher, our countrys' foundation stands far from the monarchy but I would trust you taught accordingly within our history. The monarchy should be disassembled.
Our schools and town had transfer programs to Europe in namesake towns and they were quite loved.

The monarchy is no longer a symbol of Oppression and colonialism any more than the American flag is a symbol of slavery and genocide. The history is history and she was part of it a lovely Regal woman befitting of her position. She was a classy lady from her nose to her toes from her crown to the shoes she wore and she filled them well. I've never been to England and I've never met the queen but I do mourn her passing and feel the loss of that grand lady the likes of whom we will never see again
I also had German Oma who adored the queen ,shes used to make artillery shells for the Germans before meeting her British husband

My dad caught a glimpse of her when he was over there, when he was sent over there during WW 2 and her family and now she's at rest now and so his my dad he's been at rest since 2002 he was 80 years old and I miss him so much. And I miss her as well, 😢😥😞😓🙏☦️

My Queen for 73 years too. I remember as a 10 year old Wolf Cub travelling to the new Iroquois ON dedication when the St. Lawrence Seaway was opened. What I remember is the awe that I felt to be in their presence, we all cheered wildly as they drove by on the way to the official opening for the new town sites and the Seaway project itself. That had to be 59 or 60, definitely before I moved up to our small boy scout troop. My sympathy to the family for their losses this year.

From the us and we feel like we lost our grandmother me and my wife she's a great woman she's our brethren
I also feel personal sadness that we have lost such a great personage such a lovely and gracious human being. I feel an ache in my solar plexus like when Kennedy was murdered, by the people who should have been protecting him, when I was 10 years old. Some people command love and respect because they deserve it.

I'm an American & I'll be 69 this month. Queen Elizabeth II & her family has been a constant in our news all of my life.
I woke up from my nap & saw the news that Queen Elizabeth II had passed away today.
I had a feeling when her husband passed away last year, that she wouldn't be with us much longer because statistics of long marriages like theirs, the surviving spouse usually passes within a year of their spouse when they are in their later years as they were.
I couldn't believe it & had to look it up for myself.
It's such sad news today.
RIP Queen Elizabeth II & Prince Philip you'll now be together & at peace.
To the Queen's Family & the people of England I send my deepest condolences for the passing of your beloved Mother, Grandmother & Great Grandmother & the Queen of England.
