Thank you for this video Gerry. Very good clips. I have a yearling colt I'm starting right now that is the brother to my 2 year old I started over the last 1.5 years and he is almost identical to this filly in temperament. Terrified of humans, over-reactive, spooky, touchy etc. I am using this same training style and I feel like I am starting to make progress with him. He was put into a chute before I got him to put a halter on and thats the extent of his handling. It's nice to see this video and know there are other horses out there as reactive as he is and that I am handling it in the proper manner. Just takes time :)
+Scott Downs Thanks Scott.. I went to get here last night and dropped her here at the ranch. Scott, I am all over the FaceBook and will be posting clips of her progress. Are on you FaceBook?
This guy is ok you should watch Marty Roberts. He does the same w/love. You will see a difference. In less time Marty will have a rider on the same horse.
@@patrickhennigan9689 Nothing to bet, no way to prove one way or the other.. MY question is "Would it be the Right Thing to Do for THIS horse"? I was there, I'd say No.. Not for THIS horse... maybe some other horse, this one>? No.. Question, have YOU ever been IN a Colt Starting Competition? Just curious.. How many and how did you do>?
@@GerryCoxHorsemanship I've started hundreds of horses and can make a bridleless horse in 90 days. Dude you don't even know how to properly round pen a horse in the first place. You put the rope on the horses neck hoping if it blows up you might be able to keep it in that 40 ft circle you call a round pen. Be a man and learn how to control a 1000 lbs animal without ever touching it! Study Lyons round pen reasoning and I mean study it until you perfect it and you'll never go back to putting a rope on a horse again. You have no concept of actually having that horse stick to you like glue wherever you go, in or out of the round pen. When I'm done round penning a horse I can do it in a pasture without a round pen. If folks actually did the round penning right in the first place you wouldn't all these idiot trainers on TH-cam fucking around with their silly little flags attached to whips fucking with the horses mind. I don't do it the way Roberts does but the man knows his shit when it comes to horses not to mention he came up with the fucking idea in the first place and Lyons perfected it. And if you really knew what kind of horseman Roberts is that's where you would put your money.
Now that was some just neat work. Beautiful on so many levels if you realize what you’re watching.
Again, Gerry, I am so impressed with how you work these horses.
