  • A fun day getting the halter on Chandras WILD Mustang! Last week no one had been able to catch or touch him and we got him roped and rubbed a bit and settled, but even at that he would only present is Right side, not allow us to the left. Today we suggested he was better off presenting his Left side after we got him roped and settled and rubbed al over. Soon the face with a halted and haltered and leading. Chandra could then walk up, catch and un-catch at random and at will. I gave her some exercises to do so he will become more and more gentle. It is a PROCESS, Not and Event!

this was a pleasure to watch. I don't think people realize what it takes to stand toe to toe with a mustang. The ability to be gentle, quiet, and still stern, the confidence it takes to speak to that horse in his language. Is this the standard method you use for halter breaking? My first mustang is away at training after progress fell off between us, but I'm hoping to get some practice under my belt and get him a wild friend.

That’s awesome, well done, love your technique, you can teach me anytime. I also admire that lady for doing what she did, and you Gerry for trusting her and giving her a go...I’ll be watching that again. I’d love to know the story behind that horse..

Gerry Cox you certainly make it look easy, when being assertive on the hind end and then drawing him into the center of the pen have you ever had one want to think about charging you? I am working with a bronc reject and try to draw him he is thinking about charging me. I am no expert by any means but have been around horses all my life just curious if I am doing something wrong or if something was done to him in his past.

Gees lady the man said "dont turn your back on him" so what do you do not once but continually, turned your back on him, if you get injured its your own stupid fault.
