Only Pyongyang is developed and advanced. It’s the showcase city, the city they want you to see. The rest of the country is poor and undeveloped on the other hand
Its easy to concentrate resources if you run a brutal regime. Thats exactly how NK can build a nuke; by sacrificing the peasantry and rob them of a dignified living standard. This girl... is so cute and lovable. No doubt she was, no she IS popular. She already stole my heart!
Wait did she just say "oh the earth is round, interesting". Broo 😂😂
She's very attractive herself
I actually don't like my hometown at all, but I can understand those who do. I could also go back any time I want, but I try to avoid it.
Where are you from?
@@evangeliar.7600 Just a small city in New England. Lots of old abandoned factories and closed shops. It's a really depressing place with unhappy people.
Oh . Interesting
i understand if you dont wanna tell me but whats your home town called?
There’s a lot of defectors than I originally thought.
there're almost 30k NK defectors in SK
She lowkey looks like arin (oh my girl) in here
SO TRUE! Especially now Arin has short hair too
OMG-
Da🐬da🐬da🐬da🐬da🐬da🐬da🐬da🐬da🐬da🐬da🐬
it almost seemed like she had a normal life in north korea...
Everyone have a normal Life everywhere. School, job, friends. But in NK you have to be more careful about everything.
I do this a lot. I immigrated to the US when I was 4 from Guatemala and although I didn't spend my time there, I still search up the place where I was born on google earth. Then I call my mom and I ask her where everything is. I don't remember any of it, but being able to see it on the screen and see the pictures makes me feel hopeful for the day that I get to go back and makes me feel like I've been there before. I consider both the US and Guatemala my home even though I've lived in the US more. Unfortunately, I can't go back. Not yet at least because there's a high chance that I won't be allowed to come back to the US. But I'll be waiting for the day when I get to go home and get to hug my family for the first time since I left almost 16 years ago
"I hate to say this about myself, but I was really a bit popular"
"NOPE"
lol what in flat earth is going on here
She have been featured many times mostly in videos about this certain topic, and because of this she has unintentionally become a TH-cam celebrity. You are a very strong and iconic individual Nara! Thank you guys so much for giving her this opportunity
I love her story. Especially the part about the rich boys on bikes picking up girls near the instrument factory! So cute! She talks a little like the female news anchor from north korea ( her name start with R but I can't remember)
8:46 OMG I'M DYING LOL
She's so beautiful 😍 Love this gal, even though I wouldn't understand a thing she says without subtitles.
When I emigrated to England and then Australia, I missed my hometown. Everybody do. Fortunately we can go home every so often to see our family. I can imagine how much you missed your hometown especially that you can’t go home to see your family.
1:04 Excellent choice of music here with Satie - Gymnopédie No.1. I've noticed from watching Korean movies and shows over the years that they have excellent taste in classical music.
I agree!
진짜 예뻐요, 모델 처럼 같아요 😊인터부를 해서 너무 감사해요!
Nara : Oh, the earth round
Me : It always has been
Yashh! Kang Naraaa
It always surprises me no matter how many times I see how advanced and modern N. Korea is. My mental picture of N. Koreans are basically like the Asian Amish, but sad.
depends on the zones of the country, I suppose.
Just like the other comment said, it depends on the zone. The wealthy part is basically just for the top 1%, and for show when there are visitors from outside the country. The rest is really quite terrible, just like you thought. I can’t remember the name of the video now, but there was a man who snuck a camera into NK and recorded the experience. It’s fairly popular so it should be one of the first results. Anyways if your interested it shows most of NK.
Foreigners are always followed and their itinerary is made by the regime. Dont be fooled by the pictures. Travelers only get access to the carefully selected places that the regime allows them to visit
As someone who has been to 청진 I have to say it's a beautiful city and the seafood is pretty good there. Also it seems they are improving the city too. Outside of my hotel, they were constructing a new road. Sanctioning the DPRK makes it only harder on the people living in the northern part of the peninsula. Personally I'd love to visit 청진 again. The 함경북도 area is very beautiful in general, but unfortunately got hit the hardest during the Arduous March :/
Her dad practically raised her and now they seperated by politics. I will cry myself to sleep everyday if Im seperated from my dad 🏳
You are not a man, you are weak. Feminine men like you are why the Western world is collapsing.
@@Zeehee-tm9wg she's a girl, of course she's feminine
@@natasya6190 shes not even from the ‘western world’ 😭😭😭

who would've thought China would be the source of some sort of freedom
It's hard to admit, but even many chinese people critisized North Korean leaders for their mistreatment of the north korean people
China still extradites North Koreans back to North Korea if they are caught to face almost certain death so they have to go to another country
Probably cause she comes from a North Korean Elite family. Those who escape to South Korea are basically free. But those who escape to China. They most likely get caught and sent back to North Korea with some serious consequences of course unless they don't get caught in China.
Independently Blonde what the hell are you talking abt... regardless if she’s an elite or not, the North Korean-South Korean border is the most militarised border on the planet and since the Chinese-North Korean border is much easier to cross, the vast majority of defectors escape through China and later get to South Korea
@@zuza_0613 OK but why do you have to be so rude to get your point across? I wasn't saying that wasn't the case. Don't be such an asshole.
She legit seems like a South Korean, her personality and everything seems like she's up to date and shit and that's cool to see in a north korean
Well she was an upper class citizen she could do whatever
she looks like cha jung won. very pretty
Isn’t it too risky for your family back there to disclose this information?????
Rahul Rai she mentioned in another video that the NK government doesn’t really have the ability to know whose family has defected and such, so as long as she doesn’t speak out specifically against the regime, her family will be fine.
She's a korean elite. (coming from North korea's upper class) Her mom paid 10,000$ for the broker to help her escape. She's had everything silver spooned don't think the government would be suspicious or anything
Her mother is also in SK
@Sugar Free Anthems she's part of the elite class in NK and her father is rich.
Both her and her mother and in SK
While her dad in NK.
They won't do anything to the dad considering his wealth.
@@DazzlingPotatoes She also have the SK police offers help to them to keep her safe
She z so funny n entertaining to me .... a treat to watch her speak
I felt bad for her dad that cannot meet his daughter and wife :(
I wish hes gonna be healthy
The streets looks so... grey. They don't have trees or any kind of plant at cities streets?
it's intentional soviet design
I think it's more crazy to know North Koreans have access to smart phones.
Well she is from the High class division in North Korean standards
A lot of NK have access to chinese smart phones
I know this must have been hard to do. Nothing but blessings and well wishes for kang nara and all the Korean Peninsula.
Your hometown is beautiful thanks for sharing with us❤️
Love the 60 FPS
At start when she talked about her missing her hometown I directly noticed Satie at the background-
WHY IS SHE SO CUTE 🤧
The North Korean Accent still amazes me. How different it is
The editing took me tf out!
I grew up eating seafood - sounds of sea gulls
Sounds like a wonderful place!
She is like me when I first learned to use internet and computer at age of 10
it must be sad. I some times look at my old neighborhood in California and am sad at what has happened to California that made me want to leave. . but I can't imagine what you must be going through.
what was that sound at 3:26?
Oh, the earth is round. WOW
what
They really skipped the part of showing her home for her safety. Because if they showed her home or the vicinity where she used to live, it's the end for her family and relatives. 진짜 끝이야...
When she zoom in the map , the building all grey in colour ...
Lol they watched k-dramas and danced to k-pop music, unbelievable
I do not know why but I find Nara's face really attractive... especially her profile.
I noticed this NK refugess that appeard in YT are very attractive
Maybe because she's GORGEOUS.
Does anyone knows the title og the background music on 1:13 thanks!
This is a fresh content.
SHE LOOKS LIKES ESTHER YU
4:36 This left me wondering, do most of the common North Koreans think that the Earth is not sphere/round? I'm not sure about what they teach in their schools so 🤷♂️🤷♂️
She's sooooo beautiful!
Beautiful young lady!
Wonderful video
This was actually pretty sad 😥.
Cool!
Almost 8 millions if North Koreans actually have a mobile phones
i kinda wondering around, that these people are under surveillance of north korea agent or something like that?
Omg she looks like Arin from oh my girl, she's beautiful
She is so pretty as a North korean
"the earth is round" don't tell me that she didnt know that
She was probably surprised that it wasn't traditional map style presentation...
She was suprised because she said earlier she only used google map so she was suprised to see round earth format
Seeing the sacrifices of the north korean people was a big nightmare to them while we as Filipinos follow the law in our country but we are really free as compared since then we are very lucky and I'm sad for them were they like in a lifetime prison.
Soup on the beach while watching shows on cell phone? Why did u leave sounds lit
So she was from wealthy family.?
Because a girl who told her story bfr, her mom was publicly persecuted for watching television.
Nahh they watch it secretly
What is persecuted?
Do you mean executed?
It's sad to think how much greater Korea can be if united.
stupid question ahead:
why didnt her dad escape too ?
He's part of the wealthy upper class in NK
The elite class..
Idk why he didn't escape. If he did, it wouldn't be because of financial reasons.
That's not a stupid question.
I think another good question is why does a mom who is in a well off family desert her own family and kids forever?
Why does a daughter who is in a well off north korean family do the same thing and desert and leave her brother and father forever?
Seems like selfish individuals whom put themselves first.
@@randkamza1206 they might be living a wealthier life but they're still under a communist and autocratic country. You don't know the details of their life there, you are in no position to judge them unless you've lived there.
@@justadrianalima And...you're not in a position to judge my comment, it goes both ways. Common sense says it's safe to assume things for them were pretty good in NK, she sure talks highly of her hometown and her past. Most with such a hard, negative life would never do such a thing.
@@randkamza1206 I will judge your comment unless you've lived her past way of life. Like what she said, if you were listening, it's not her hometown she dislikes, it's the 'system'. The fact that she and her mother risked their lives to defect despite the class they were in, says a lot about how horrible the system is. Is it wrong to talk about the good things she had back then? Watch more videos of nk defectors, then you would know why they would want to be free from all that. Plus, there are for sure more other life details that were left unsaid. Your 'selfish' comment perfectly defines you.
4:36 checkmate flat earthers
I thought all family go to Prison if someone defect North Korea but the still has contact
Shes apart of the elite
BsBsBock that stopped doing that because too many people have been defecting.
So, in north korea they have phone too?, Not just the elite?
