How Factory Farms Affect Cows

Why are farmers going out of business? In 1934, some 5.2 million dairy farms dotted America's countryside. Since that peak, a noticeable decline has ensued. Today, fewer than 28,000 licensed dairy herds remain. On top of that, The average American dairy turned a profit only twice in the past two decades despite milk production rising by almost 40%, according to analysis by Food and Water Watch.
