    Daedelus is without a doubt one of the most unique producers I've ever listened to. His level of creativity is mind blowing. It's so hard to even describe his many releases in one genre because he dabbles in so many styles he's taken traditional styles of electronic and added his own take and it's simply incredible and amazing

      I completely agree! He's one of the most exciting and innovative music producers today. I think he's a little ahead of his time, but this kind will take off eventually.

  • @DaedelusMusic
    @DaedelusMusic 14 ปีที่แล้ว +83

    @ajdanlace The camera editing makes it a bit unclear, but the Monome (the pad thing) is lighting up different parts of a loop, basically one sample for each line. When pressing the buttons it'll trigger that point in the loop, chopping the small samples up further, sometimes replacing the sample with another, at other times changing the speed or pitch, creating collisions and juxtapositions. Thats pretty much the idea, there is other stuff going on with the smaller Monome, but it's a start.

      Really? Please point out the hardware or software he uses to generate music. All I see is a Monome which can start\stop\mix samples like a standard turntable would. So funny you wrote your comment 2 years ago and now here we are, arguing :D.

    Daedelus on the Monome, no matter how it's done, is pure art.

    @krakath, thanks for that explanation. The difference, though, seems like semantic hair-splitting and doesn't seem very useful. The midi controllers trigger pre-recorded sounds just as the turntables do. Only the medium that contains the sounds is different. And what about music on CD, or iPod, or on a hard drive? In any regard, it's a matter of taking pre-recorded sounds and combining them in a new context and in a live setting. Isn't that what DJ's of any kind do?

    @GSFaire The song he is sampling from at the 6:30 mark is KC Accidental, from the album You Forgot It In People, and the artist is Broken Social Scene.
