I’m a 75 year old hiker who lost my wife after her five year battle with cancer. Your peace with the realities of this life are shared and appreciated by many of us. I too hike at every opportunity and find peace in nature.
Thanks so much. As someone who had cancer (chemo and all the rest) I know how painfult the process can be. But nature is an encompassing and powerful force that helps me every time I spend time there. Thanks for your comment.
Thank you. I repeatedly decide to quit TH-cam, but then start a new video, so there is obviously something in it for me. I appreciate your comment and your watching the video!
Enjoyed following along with your hike. I found the pictographs fascinating and that makes sense that the park doesn't want their locations disclosed. It probably helps protect them better.
Thanks for watching. Actually, about 50 years ago these pictographs were defaced by someone who added their initials, a real danger in unsupervised locations.
Beautiful!! Thank you for your time and commentary! Thank your videographer also! Beautiful shots!! Thank you for your advice on mortality also! My Faith in Jesus helps me address that but I also know I need to be careful thoughtful of the time I spend on earth! We only have so much time and I want to hike or ride the places I dream of! Just talking about it is not enough. I don't want to be at the point where I physically cannot hike or ride and wish I'd done it but be able to remember doing it! Your videos are so great! Thanks again!!
Thanks, Dave, you are much too kind. Even with a belief in everlasting life, your corporeal existence will end, so time is limited, as you said. You should have a lot of great years ahead of you, and my advice is to live them to the fullest!
I really enjoyed this! I just love how beautiful it is out there! I always enjoy listening to your tips and advice. The lush areas in the desert are always so intriguing. I can say you made the right choice. The medi care advantage plans are not beneficial. Keep living your best life and do what you can, while you can.
Thank you. Medicare really is quite a mess, but I am very pleased with the choice I made. I try to live every day to its fullest. Thanks for all of your comments and support.
It is a challenging but rewarding adventure. There are some steep descents and elevation changes, which, along with the arid conditions and long distance, makes this trail demanding. For me as a geologist is interesting to hear something about mining history. I like Indian garden, a lush oasis and great place to rest. And after a good hike, a beer is always good 🍺
Thanks for watching. Mining was the initial industry in Grand Canyon, and the Orphan Mine was very productive for a relatively short time. I have a bit of information about it in the second half of my swimming pool video (maybe a misleading title) if you are interested. th-cam.com/video/K5A0GJ51e7c/w-d-xo.html Did you work in academics or industry as a geologist?
@ thank you, I saw this video. I have spent my entire working life working at the Croatian Geological Survey. For the first few years I worked in the field exploring mineral resources, but after I had children I was transferred to the position of Head of professional documentation.
Thanks for this one. Is there any place to camp on the way to Horn Creek, or are you only allowed to camp in designated campgrounds along the Tonto West trail? Someday my Leukemia will return, in the meantime I want to make the most of my time. To me it's better than a neurodegenerative disorder, so I can't complain.
You can camp at Havasupai Garden, but it is so close to Horn Creek, I am not sure of its utility. There is an interesting hike down Hermit Trail, connecting with Tonto, with various camping opportunities before you link up with Bright Angel. 25 miles in all, so one overnight or two might make it pleasant. Plus, backcountry, there is very little enforcement of the rules and plenty of opportunity to find pleasant locales. Sorry about the Leukemia. I had colon cancer and likely face the same future. That makes the experiences we can have now all the more sweet.
Great! Your videos are my first click on TH-cam. More important than mortality is for me to configure out how do you make videos of yourself way out far from a distance while hiking?
Thank you. Although I love solitude, it strikes me as best to hike backcountry with a friend. That allows the distance shots. ( and a little solitude )

Beautiful scenery, and the morning hues make it special. Kudos to the Park Service for all their hard work. ❤
I love to see the sun rise on the trail in the Canyon. It is so nice that it is preserved for us to visit!
Wonderful content! Thank you for sharing, and wish you have a happy holiday and Happy new year!🍁🍁😃😃👍👍❤❤
Thank you for watching!
I sure appreciate your videos and do encourage you to continue making them regardless the income from TH-cam so long as you enjoy the hobby.

Death walks with us all each and every day. Be one with it. It's there. It'll take you someday. It's okay.
Yes, mortality is a constant companion. Personally, I do not see how so many people deny it.
