- We made Pajeon, aka 전 , in our last FAPFAP, but there are so many more Jeons out there, and we realize that we haven't actually ever shown you them outside of our home. So come with us as we head over to our favourite Jeon shop in Hongdae and eat some delicious, delicious Korean food. WARNING: Do not watch on an empty stomach!

Those are not sesame leaves.. but Perilla leaves.. I know Korean people call them "ggaennip" because "ggae" literally means sesame and "ip" means leaf but like I said they are Perilla leaves to be exact.

My whole family is Korean and my parents do pronounce John as Jeon.
So I turned 18 on 1/15 and I finally convinced my parents to take me out for Korean food. We had Haemul Jeon, Kimbop, and Mandu for appetizers. My Mom had Bulgogi and I had Kalbi. It was delicious! Thanks for reviewing all the amazing food!

Try butchering a seagull, cooking it with all the jeon ingredients, and you get a Jungkook jeon. XD
BTW, The reason I used seagull here is because Jungkook's supposed to be stage name is the Korean for Seagull. So using seagull means you used a Jungkook for your jeon! And jeon is Jungkook's last name, so you get a Jeon Jungkook! :)

I've made it at home before when I had some leftover batter. I grabbed a bunch of green onions and seasoned it all before frying. I made dipping sauce with 2 parts soy sauce, 1 part sesame oil, some minced garlic and small pieces of green onion. It was really good for a rookie.
How do Simon and Martina get away with recording this entire video at a restaurant, and not have anyone give them dirty looks for talking so loud, especially in a foreign language??? lollllll
The people in the back was pretty loud too so they probably didn't hear them and also there's a mic.
Jeon places are usually for drinking. It's almost like a bar. No Korean think of Jeon place as legit restaurant and NO KOREAN EATS JEON WITHOUT SOME SORT OF ALCOHOL (unless they're making Jeon themselves).
I'm so fascinated by the people in the background around 3:14. The guy slapping his leg seems so.. passionate about whatever he's speaking of.

Coming back to these old videos made me realize that goddamn Simon's glow up was really that powerful. He looks like an entirely different person now and it's very much for the better. It's kinda surreal to hear his voice from old Simon because I don't associate his voice with a beardless man.

The folded over leaf jeon is a sesame leaf from sesame leaf plant, unlike sesame seeds that come from a tree. These leaves are a bit peppery. Really great on sandwiches. My family grows them in our back yard.

tochjo772 Considering that they were invited to the YTMAs to interview people and have been on TV shows before, I don't think that you can say no one in Korea knows them / they aren't liked at all...
They don't only make vlogs; they make videos about Korean culture/society and videos that talk about K-pop, which are things that would get noticed since people tend to google/search for those types of things. I'm not sure what category you're even talking about since you didn't mention one until just now, but they've been on shows as guests, I'm not sure about hosting, though. S&M have interviewed multiple K-pop groups over the years that they've been in Korea and that is probably part of the reason why they were chosen.
Honestly internet popularity would probably not be enough to keep someone in a country that they did not have any positive feelings towards. Plus there is no evidence that they don't love Korea/that they actually hate it, so I think that the "many people" you're talking about, if they really exist, are just grasping at straws to try and find reasons to hate S&M. Either way I think you just commented to start an argument and I'm done participating in it.

I had magkoli for the first time last week and I absolutely sympathize with your bad experience and overdrinking. My friends and I were so surprised that it was so mild yet still definitely alcoholic and if we'd bought more than one bottle we absolutely could have gotten blackout drunk completely by accident! Fortunately, we didn't have enough to get more than a light buzz. It was really good and I'm definitely going to have it again in other flavors. I love your videos!

A Korean thing :) There's even a term for it. "치맥(Chi-mac)," which is Chicken + Macjoo(Korean for beer). And Jeon goes with Makkoli, Korean barbecue goes with Soju, and steak with wine. To be honest, I don't know where these things came from, but it just is lol.

When Martina mentioned Gochu Jeon at 1:10 - 1:16, the first thing that came to mind was Chile Relleno.
A chile relleno is a Mexican dish that contains cooked Jalapeños, shredded beef stuffing, a bowl of REALLY whipped white eggs only, and a pot or pan to deep fried it in. It take a while to prepare and cook it but it is really good. I am not sure of other places in South America that has eaten, knows or has a similar or different versions of it, I would really like to know if there is! 😄 Man, I could go for a Chile Relleno right about now 😋

Just got back from a trip to Korea (I hadn't been in 43 years!). I was worried about missing my dirty martinis during my visit. As luck would have it I absolutely love Korean liquor! Soju, Baek seju (sp?) , especially Maekoli! My only regret is that I didn't make a comprehensive list of all your places to eat. Love Korea, and can't wait to visit again. I can see why you live there. Love you guys!

Jeon is a pancake, but doesn't specifically mean like one. Because you know when people do a pancake it's mostly one thing ( breakfast only thing). 김치전 주세요!! Can you give me a Kimchi Pancake please. I have actually had the Kimchi one and its sooo good, my mom made it once and I've brought it to school for my lunch and it made my backpack and locker smell like Kimchi which was super good and it was super delicious
