Ahaha the lady that came and stared into the camera XD the leaf thing she mentioned, kken-ip is sesame leaf^^ My grandma grows it and we eat it like lettuce with rice and gochujang~^^ I love kimchi jeon~^^
yeah kimchi jeon super delicious... since i'm a muslim and kimchi is mostly veggies, its mostly what i eat when i live in korea to study for few months... ^^
Those are not sesame leaves.. but Perilla leaves.. I know Korean people call them "ggaennip" because "ggae" literally means sesame and "ip" means leaf but like I said they are Perilla leaves to be exact. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perilla#Korea
So I turned 18 on 1/15 and I finally convinced my parents to take me out for Korean food. We had Haemul Jeon, Kimbop, and Mandu for appetizers. My Mom had Bulgogi and I had Kalbi. It was delicious! Thanks for reviewing all the amazing food!
You guys are the best couple ever. Meat medallions, fighting over food, and feeding eachother cynically for entertainment :) oh and Simon let's Martina bring her cute stuffed animals to dinner!!
I've been flying through your videos like no one's business, im so obsessed i forgot to like them! I have to go back one by one just to like them all haha
When Martina mentioned Gochu Jeon at 1:10 - 1:16, the first thing that came to mind was Chile Relleno. A chile relleno is a Mexican dish that contains cooked Jalapeños, shredded beef stuffing, a bowl of REALLY whipped white eggs only, and a pot or pan to deep fried it in. It take a while to prepare and cook it but it is really good. I am not sure of other places in South America that has eaten, knows or has a similar or different versions of it, I would really like to know if there is! 😄 Man, I could go for a Chile Relleno right about now 😋
Martina your hair look always so silky and shinee (you see what i did there ;-) u need a life..) well can you please make a video about whar products do you use?Something like a hair care routine?
Try butchering a seagull, cooking it with all the jeon ingredients, and you get a Jungkook jeon. XD BTW, The reason I used seagull here is because Jungkook's supposed to be stage name is the Korean for Seagull. So using seagull means you used a Jungkook for your jeon! And jeon is Jungkook's last name, so you get a Jeon Jungkook! :)
Yall are awesome, and entertaining. I try a lot of asian recipes because of all the asian grocery shops nearby!! Getting more ideas on things to try to cook is always awesome, and it also makes me so jealous cuz I want to try it all!!
I've made it at home before when I had some leftover batter. I grabbed a bunch of green onions and seasoned it all before frying. I made dipping sauce with 2 parts soy sauce, 1 part sesame oil, some minced garlic and small pieces of green onion. It was really good for a rookie.
This vids old but idc, I love hearing y’all order the food . It’s just wonderful Why? I have no idea.. I just like watching the interaction and hearing u guys pronounce the different foods and amount and just... yeah
How do Simon and Martina get away with recording this entire video at a restaurant, and not have anyone give them dirty looks for talking so loud, especially in a foreign language??? lollllll
Jeon places are usually for drinking. It's almost like a bar. No Korean think of Jeon place as legit restaurant and NO KOREAN EATS JEON WITHOUT SOME SORT OF ALCOHOL (unless they're making Jeon themselves).
kia ora, Simon and Martina. I wanted to say that even though I often have trouble mustering up the will to actually eat, watching your videos helps a whole lot. Cheers.
Aigoo >.< Looks delicious. Thanks for making the video. Btw, it sounds like you're talking REALLY loudly. Did you get stink eye from anybody? Or dos the camera just make it sound louder? XD
Martina, your current, super badass side shave hairstyle is hella awesome but I absolutely love you with bangs. Of course you're stunning no matter how you do your hair and it's best to rock whatever hairstyle makes you happy. I just had tell you how insanely adorable you are with bangs. ^-^/
I've had jeon many times before because there's a many of korean restaurants in ottawa but i have to say the one i really like is called seafood pajeon :) It's soooooo good !!! thank you for taking the time to make these videos, I reaallyyy enjoy them !!
I was wondering what's the fashion culture and trends are in Korea and how it's different from North America :) I would appreciate it sooo much if you guys answered!
Is it a normal thing in Korean to go up to a random person and pose with them on camera? I know photo bombing and video bombing in the background is normal but I've never seen people posing with random people.
SimonandMartina Stawski Ahh! Right I understand! Simon just looked a little uncomfortable at that moment so it really seemed like she was a total stranger. xD
Gotta love the video-bombing ahjumma :)) I always wondered how come people don't stick their heads in your shots more often especially now that you're pretty famous?
tochjo772 Considering that they were invited to the YTMAs to interview people and have been on TV shows before, I don't think that you can say no one in Korea knows them / they aren't liked at all...
They don't only make vlogs; they make videos about Korean culture/society and videos that talk about K-pop, which are things that would get noticed since people tend to google/search for those types of things. I'm not sure what category you're even talking about since you didn't mention one until just now, but they've been on shows as guests, I'm not sure about hosting, though. S&M have interviewed multiple K-pop groups over the years that they've been in Korea and that is probably part of the reason why they were chosen.
Honestly internet popularity would probably not be enough to keep someone in a country that they did not have any positive feelings towards. Plus there is no evidence that they don't love Korea/that they actually hate it, so I think that the "many people" you're talking about, if they really exist, are just grasping at straws to try and find reasons to hate S&M. Either way I think you just commented to start an argument and I'm done participating in it.
Coming back to these old videos made me realize that goddamn Simon's glow up was really that powerful. He looks like an entirely different person now and it's very much for the better. It's kinda surreal to hear his voice from old Simon because I don't associate his voice with a beardless man.
Dear Simon and Martina, You should have Leigh do a weekly (or fortnightly or monthly) segment about student life in Korea from a foreigners perspective. The TLDR you did with Leigh was awesome! Jeon is a pancake, but doesn't specifically mean like one. Because you know when people do a pancake it's mostly one thing ( breakfast only thing). 김치전 주세요!! Can you give me a Kimchi Pancake please. (Omg they're delicious if you haven't tried). Sorry if it sounded a little like a teacher!! Haha that's not me but I hoped it helped!! ;;)
Just got back from a trip to Korea (I hadn't been in 43 years!). I was worried about missing my dirty martinis during my visit. As luck would have it I absolutely love Korean liquor! Soju, Baek seju (sp?) , especially Maekoli! My only regret is that I didn't make a comprehensive list of all your places to eat. Love Korea, and can't wait to visit again. I can see why you live there. Love you guys!
guys i need your help. 1. i am going to seoul next year and wonder which part in seoul is the best to stay? 2. where do i get concert tickets? oh and awesome video. as always ^_^♥
The folded over leaf jeon is a sesame leaf from sesame leaf plant, unlike sesame seeds that come from a tree. These leaves are a bit peppery. Really great on sandwiches. My family grows them in our back yard.
hand in hand like chicken and beer....? what? xD you eat chicken with beer? I don't know...I'm German and I've never heard of that. is it a canadian thing?
A Korean thing :) There's even a term for it. "치맥(Chi-mac)," which is Chicken + Macjoo(Korean for beer). And Jeon goes with Makkoli, Korean barbecue goes with Soju, and steak with wine. To be honest, I don't know where these things came from, but it just is lol.
About time they did a video on Jeon/Jun. You two should really visit Hawai'i and see all the unique fusion foods, names, and traditions that have arisen due to the longstanding diversity of the Islands.
Guys... THANK YOU, for doing this video. I went there on friday with my friends and daaaaaamn that was delicious... Haah, i'm drooling just thinking back. YUM!
And Jungkook is Seagull... it should have been his idol name ... be he just went with Jungkook... Jimin should have been BabyJ... omg when BTS debuted some people were like. "They look handsome... but what about those bizzare stage names...reffering to Rap monster, V, Suga and Jhope 😂😂😂 I cant imagine what would ppl say if Jungkook and Jimin kept those names. 😂😂😂😂😂 "hello we are Seagull V BabyJ Rapmon JHope Suga and Jin from BTS 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 nooooooo...
Simon and Martina, I just wanted to drop in and say how much I love you guys. You inspire me everyday with your kindness and motivation and your videos are always something I enjoy watching over and over again. They are a super comforting thing especially right now. Keep doing what you guys are doing and always do it at your own pace. Take care of yourselves
I looooove food adventure program!! Thank you so much for this, i look forward to every episode, can´t wait for nhe next one. You are doing abolutely great work!
HI SIMON & MARTINA, I'd like to know what Koreans think about foreigners, but not foreigners in general but different races like what do Koreans think about Mexicans? African Americans? Chinese? etc~ please answer my question!!! >w< ♥ ♥ ♥
Omg I had a bad makkolli experience too ... My boyfriend put a bottle in his suitcase to bring back to japan with us... And I'll just say it was the worst smell everrr... Cant drink it anymore
learned that one the hard way! actually, after i posted this i called him and he told be he actually had opened it and decided not to drink it and bring it back... we were just flying back to japan tho (30 min flight).. so i guess he thought it would be fine ha
I had magkoli for the first time last week and I absolutely sympathize with your bad experience and overdrinking. My friends and I were so surprised that it was so mild yet still definitely alcoholic and if we'd bought more than one bottle we absolutely could have gotten blackout drunk completely by accident! Fortunately, we didn't have enough to get more than a light buzz. It was really good and I'm definitely going to have it again in other flavors. I love your videos!
Its called Haengbok Jeon. I had to stop the video so many times to make out the hangul. But if you google it, the restaurant should come up. I can't remember exactly which station.
One of my favorite memories in Korea was going to a Makkoli bar (which I personally find delicious) and eating Pa Jeon. And I totally loved the ahjumma coming to see what you were video taping!
Woah what a swag ajhumma usually strangers tend to avoid the camera but she jumped right in there! 😂😂

Those are not sesame leaves.. but Perilla leaves.. I know Korean people call them "ggaennip" because "ggae" literally means sesame and "ip" means leaf but like I said they are Perilla leaves to be exact.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perilla#Korea
Haha the lady that walks up at 4:34 xD You could see her looking at them around 4:28

The ahjumma is cute~ Haha XD
I'm so fascinated by the people in the background around 3:14. The guy slapping his leg seems so.. passionate about whatever he's speaking of.
Spanish subtitles are now up! Woohoo! Thank you for making them :D
I've been flying through your videos like no one's business, im so obsessed i forgot to like them! I have to go back one by one just to like them all haha
JEON JEONGGUK
Loved that part when Martina was singing warrior while feeding Simon. So friggin cute!!! XD
Kimchijeon is my fave 😊 I make it at home all the time
When Martina mentioned Gochu Jeon at 1:10 - 1:16, the first thing that came to mind was Chile Relleno.

I should have read the warning I am starving now
Same here
You two are seriously adorable.

Hahahaha. Omigod ! ㅋㅋㅋㅋ ~ 😆 this was awesome. Daebak
MeMxDoM13 who told you that seagull is jungkook? you wasted your time with wrong info.
tmqwlsdywjd Why don't you try watching BTS in Beatles Code? :)
Yall are awesome, and entertaining. I try a lot of asian recipes because of all the asian grocery shops nearby!! Getting more ideas on things to try to cook is always awesome, and it also makes me so jealous cuz I want to try it all!!
Lol that random lady xD cute
My mouth was watering during the whole video...
KOREAN FOOD FOREVERRR
Lol that ahjumma cx I'm so jealous! I really really want all of it~ I have only had Korean food twice in my life. TWICE. I miss bulgogi T^T
I've made it at home before when I had some leftover batter. I grabbed a bunch of green onions and seasoned it all before frying. I made dipping sauce with 2 parts soy sauce, 1 part sesame oil, some minced garlic and small pieces of green onion. It was really good for a rookie.
i love your vids, but mostly i love your vids because you guys seem to be The most lovable Sweet couple in The entire worlds. wish you guys The best.
+Cecília Lopes That's very kind of you to say. Thank you :D
+Simon and Martina I find it amusing that you still reply to comments in a video from 3 years.
This vids old but idc, I love hearing y’all order the food . It’s just wonderful
Why?
I have no idea.. I just like watching the interaction and hearing u guys pronounce the different foods and amount and just... yeah
How do Simon and Martina get away with recording this entire video at a restaurant, and not have anyone give them dirty looks for talking so loud, especially in a foreign language??? lollllll
The people in the back was pretty loud too so they probably didn't hear them and also there's a mic.
Cheers.
LOL AT THE AJUMMA THAT CAME IN THE SHOT XD
I love watching these videos when I'm dieting, it's like mentally consuming all the yummy food by watching 😩👌👌👌
Aigoo >.< Looks delicious.
Thanks for making the video.
Btw, it sounds like you're talking REALLY loudly. Did you get stink eye from anybody? Or dos the camera just make it sound louder? XD
I wondered about that too!
I think maybe the mics are attached to their collars so that way they can talk quieter and still be heard. :)
Ooh that would be a good hypothesis!
You to have so much fun together. I hope I find someone that complements me that way. You two make such a beautiful couple.
i totally agree :D
Martina, your current, super badass side shave hairstyle is hella awesome but I absolutely love you with bangs. Of course you're stunning no matter how you do your hair and it's best to rock whatever hairstyle makes you happy. I just had tell you how insanely adorable you are with bangs. ^-^/

Not really! She just knows us well since we visit her restaurant a lot. Obviously too much. hahahah!
SimonandMartina Stawski
Ahh! Right I understand! Simon just looked a little uncomfortable at that moment so it really seemed like she was a total stranger. xD
tochjo772
Dude, I LOVE Korea. I wouldn't be watching this if I didn't. Curiosity make us smarter.
My favorite FAPFAP! When I am having a bad day I watch this, never fails to cheer me up:)
Gotta love the video-bombing ahjumma :)) I always wondered how come people don't stick their heads in your shots more often especially now that you're pretty famous?
shes so cute! i was not expecting that x)
tochjo772 Considering that they were invited to the YTMAs to interview people and have been on TV shows before, I don't think that you can say no one in Korea knows them / they aren't liked at all...

Thank so much, home all day with a cold, watching your video is my first laugh all day!
Did Simon sing "Love song"?
I have a love and hate relationship with your food videos I watch them they make me hungry but crave Korean food 😓 lol
Coming back to these old videos made me realize that goddamn Simon's glow up was really that powerful. He looks like an entirely different person now and it's very much for the better. It's kinda surreal to hear his voice from old Simon because I don't associate his voice with a beardless man.
That’s so neat to hear! I don’t look back on our older videos too often, but I do see these comments :)
I missed this kind of videos!! You guys are fantastic!!!
Dear Simon and Martina,
You should have Leigh do a weekly (or fortnightly or monthly) segment about student life in Korea from a foreigners perspective. The TLDR you did with Leigh was awesome! And it would be amazing if she had her own video series about it.
Thank you so much for everything you do!
Lotsa love, Erin (A.K.A. a dedicated Nasty ^_^)
I love this idea, but it would be a lot of work for Leigh.
Kpop for Noobcakes Thanks ^_^ True, although it wouldn't have to be every week, and all she would do is talk about her personal experiences. Plus it could be in a TLDR type format so she wouldn't really have to do anything elaborate. I don't, we'll see ^_^
Despite the warning I watched this on an empty stomach... grumble grumble.
Definitely going to use your other video to make some pajeon next weekend!
Hi simon & martina!!
I just want to know how different is watching musical in Korea? For example the musical Ghost (originally from America) now showing in Korea with Joo Won, ivy, etc as their cast.
Please tell me if you had watch the musical Ghost? Do you guys enjoy watching it (in Korean version) and understand it as well as the original version.? Do you have a plan to interview the cast?? Or doing some vlog before and after watching it??
Thank youuuuu XD
You two are relationship goals!!!
I'm scarred from drinking Makgeolli too! Drank too much of it once and ended up throwing up on a bus... NEVER DRINKING THAT DEMON DRINK AGAIN
This video published a week after I left korea after my first trip there.
Korea was so magical back then...
Is Jeoon like the korean version of Tempura??
tempura is deep fried but jeon is pan-fried (:
Jeon is a pancake, but doesn't specifically mean like one. Because you know when people do a pancake it's mostly one thing ( breakfast only thing). 김치전 주세요!! Can you give me a Kimchi Pancake please. (Omg they're delicious if you haven't tried). Sorry if it sounded a little like a teacher!! Haha that's not me but I hoped it helped!! ;;)
Ohh thank you!

The folded over leaf jeon is a sesame leaf from sesame leaf plant, unlike sesame seeds that come from a tree. These leaves are a bit peppery. Really great on sandwiches. My family grows them in our back yard.
Where do they get the "sexy food porn shoot" music?

Garageband.

No, it's a Korean thing, apparently. Sounds weird to me too.
Actually I think, its Korean thing...coz I did hear that somewhere before... XD
Common in the states too.... well I just immediately thought of Ludacris' album Chicken n' Beer (:
Common in the States, but just about a given rule in Korea
About time they did a video on Jeon/Jun. You two should really visit Hawai'i and see all the unique fusion foods, names, and traditions that have arisen due to the longstanding diversity of the Islands.
modeun / 모든 means "everything".
Think it's modum 모듬 which means assorted, in the menu.

HI SIMON & MARTINA, I'd like to know what Koreans think about foreigners, but not foreigners in general but different races like what do Koreans think about Mexicans? African Americans? Chinese? etc~ please answer my question!!! >w< ♥ ♥ ♥
The sauce for the onion was made of soy sauce, white distilled vinegar, and a couple of tea spoons of sugar :) and I LOVES YOUR VIDEOS !!!!!
Omg I had a bad makkolli experience too ... My boyfriend put a bottle in his suitcase to bring back to japan with us... And I'll just say it was the worst smell everrr... Cant drink it anymore
Your BF is a noob, makoli is like yogurt(it will spoil) and you do not pack them in flight baggage....
learned that one the hard way! actually, after i posted this i called him and he told be he actually had opened it and decided not to drink it and bring it back... we were just flying back to japan tho (30 min flight).. so i guess he thought it would be fine ha

Fave jeon? Jeon Jungkook lmao
😂 Same
The "kook" in his name also means soup too...so he's Pancake JungSoup 😂😂
Thanks to this video I totally went looking for this place when I went to Korea last year. Found it and it was SO GOOD.
+Ming Ming Ong Do you have the name of this place?? They never put an address or name or anything..
This is in Hongdae, right? Where exactly? Or what's the name?
Its called Haengbok Jeon. I had to stop the video so many times to make out the hangul. But if you google it, the restaurant should come up. I can't remember exactly which station.
