Roy Voice Actor Shaun Dooley Interview here: th-cam.com/video/SCYQyR4K5ug/w-d-xo.htmlsi=FHQSy6dFU2UOb2jz
Some of the best monster design I’ve seen in so long. Them still having the voices/names of his coworkers is insane. The sound design and voice acting is so peak.
the sounds is something you'd catch a heart attack in reality. This is really above Silent Hill or anything, is art-house level.
This is probably one of the best examples of cosmic horror in a videogame that I've seen in a long time. There's not meant to be a reason, the mystery, the unknown. All brilliantly told through the gradual degregation of reality and the world around.
Man no commentary is the best , you will focus on the game by watching like you are playing
I can't wait to see someone explains the lore of this game. the devs did a great job!
I can't wait for someone to explain the lore
@@ryzdeon4013 thanks for simplifying it
It seems like the creatures feed on Despair, everyone transformed consistently sound hopeless and your main character is in a state of despair the entire game as they hunt you.
The ending broke my heart.
The true horror of this game is Caz and Suze’s bedroom wallpaper
Really strange but interesting game. The Scots lingo was the cherry on the cake for me. Thank you!
Whatever that creature was, it acts like a sort of hive mind. For instance, 1:10:02 when Rennick and Archie tried to leave, this thing made them go into a psychotic episode while going back to the rig. So hypothetically speaking, if Caz did manage to find a way off the rig, he would’ve had the same fate anyway. This horrifyingly shows that there was no chance that any of them were getting saved .
Really enjoyed this game, thanks for playing it. You don't usually see games that end this way since people tend to find reasons to complain about it, and a game like this based mostly on relationships with others and not fighting mechanics or anything like that is very refreshing. Awesome vid 👍
Lol literally a few comments above you is a group of guys calling the game bad for this exact reason. And people wonder why horror games all feel the same…
I think they drilled into some kinda biomass in the earths crust. It survives off energy and encorporating other biomass. It has never encountered humans and so just doesnt know how to encorporate it properly keeping them sentient. This fueled by emotion leads to it spreading further using agression to spread. The hallucination is caused by the biomass mixing everyones memory as it encorporates them. Im thinking less eldritch and more like carrion (the game)
*incorporate
I see very heavy "The Thing" (1982) influences, with a touch of "Slither" (2006) thrown in for good measure; super cool game with a great story, acting, atmosphere, and art design! 👍👍
The baseline influence is "The Colour Out Of Space" by H. Lovecraft.
@@stonedrui7112 ""The Thing set on an oil rig" was the game's original pitch, while "Who Goes There?" inspired the overall atmosphere of the game." Check the Wiki page on the game
55:18 almost shayt myself😂
around 2:04:00, where Caz sees the three bodies in the water while swimming from Leg A to Leg B, were those the three guys that he'd heard earlier on the phone who were drowning?
Good idea probably, O’Connor was further up so it’s probably the case
I kept seeing stuff about this on tiktok and came for the monsters and the scariness. What I did not expect was the pure, raw emotion this made me feel. The part where you're going up the leg and you see the monster stuff spiraling up and the orchestral music kicks in was probably one of my favourite moments in any video game. (2:13:51) It took a minute for the emotion to kick in but when you find Roy actually made me tear up a bit. All the things with Suze, especially at the end, was done so well and I love the concept of a monster feeding off your memories and thoughts like that. They made it as ocean horror should be: absolutely terrifying and unforgiving, but so beautiful you almost forget at the end how cruel it was to you. A few other people in the comments pointed out that there was no answer, and while you could think of that as bad design I think it mimicked how life is. Nobody really knows why anything happens, but it was terrible and beautiful all the same. I find it endearing how much he thought about his wife and kids even though it was clear he did not make good decisions at all. I walked into this thinking it was going to be just scary monsters (and it was! some of the designs remind me of the last of us and i ADORE how they did Miur and the boss guy lol i can't think of his name) and walked out with a heavy stone in my heart for Caz. I know it's just a game but I hope it all burned down and Suze found a way to move on. You know when a game can do that, it's good! Thank you so much for posting the full game with no commentary, I don't have the tech nor the guts nor the talent to play stuff like this and you made it feel like a movie! It would make a good movie, honestly. Anyways, this really did hit me hard and I felt like I needed to rant about it. Oh, and the fact that it's all scottish? Excellent! It really did feel real with the voice acting too. I'm probably going to have a scottish accent for the next week (american here) lmao
Holy fuck... Do NOT!!! watch a 3 and a half hour Eldritch horror game and then go right to sleep
I just watched whole of it and I’m about to go to sleep
Lol I watch horror movies right up to sleep. Don't dream anything bad
Ok! *watches an hour's worth then stops right after the Rennick chase and goes to sleep*
If you know the oil field business you will appreciate this game to the max
Its been a while since we saw a good horror game
Why did you skip the call with Scooby?? 🤨
🤔😑
I don't care what anyone says. Caz did the right thing! My heart goes out to him on what he did ♥. He Sacrificed his life for rest for the world? He will never be forgotten doing that and will stay a legend till the very end! This game is remarkable the creators did such a great job with graphics the story line and the gameplay it felt so real. It made me think I was actually on a oil rig 🤣 I honestly truly feel they should make a sequel or at least a movie adaptation to this and it made so much sense. It was rumored that the ending would have two choices You could either: kill yourself and save everyone else in the world or wait till the ship comes to recuse you and take a chance on the whatever that thing is to spread around the world which would lead into a sequel.
I liked this game, didn't like the outcome but overall pretty cool game to play.
It should be nominated for game of the year, even if I think Elden Ring will win, this game deserves to be in
I love the music that kicks in at around 3:24:03 - maybe it played earlier on in the game not sure 🤔
One of the best games I've played this year. Nothing too difficult, just keep clamoring through the rig. It's refreshing from all the Mars based games...ie. DOOM. Just without all the shooting.
I loved the story, and designs. Had me tearing up a couple of times.
Can't wait for the movie that'll have Butler doing that goofy run...
Ime amazed 😮out how quickly youve clocked this game 😂⏰️ . Thank you for sharing the full gameplay. Brilliant Stuff 😆
Thank you!!! For those of us to scared to brave the game ourselves.
That was like The Expanse set on Deepwater Horizon
I wonder what it was? Some old god or an alien?
Cthulu is an Elser god from outer space
Save me from searching… where does the god show itself ?
Old god most likely, it's the thing that's encompassing the ship itself like a parasite slowly corrupting reality itself.
@@sickpuppythemovie old god most likely, it's the thing that's spreading and growing all around the ship, slowly destroying the fabric of everything as it's fully manifesting itself into the game's reality
since the game is heavily inspired by the thing by john carpenter, most likely an alien
1:15:00 why skip the call??
The yellow tape epidemic needs to stop
2:58:15 Who put the phone back on the receiver...? Caz put it on the table when he walked away...
Cosmic horror is a difficult genre for a lot of types of media to pull off, luckily whoever was in charge of writing and the voice direction knew what is the most important part of sell would be.
I accidentally soft locked myself I ran past the fuse box is Addair’s section and got to the next checkpoint and it won’t let me go back there’s a fucking invisible wall blocking the ladder to go back up for no reason I think I have to fucking start over
Yeah, I love this game, but it is so unbelievably buggy
@@Teaspoon14 I just replayed it beat it in like 2 hours great game speed ran the begining the second time but all around really fun
this is the most beautiful and saddest horror game I've ever seen.
Thanks for sharing the gameplay, bro. It was awesome!
Can't wait to know more about the lore.
There isn't any, far as I can tell.
@@deathbyirony7035 And I think it's still a while before they release something like that, but I think it would be cool to have some lore so that the game doesn't start and end with itself.
bro, this game is so good
I'm really enjoying this game. It's not hard to play...but it's very immersive. The graphics are excellent even on my Nitro 5, and the sound is just as good. No puzzles are impossible to solve, I don't get lost in endless hallways, it's just self guiding and good. Thank you for reviewing it!
I started playing this and it seems good. I have trouble playing because it scares me😅
2:39:20 i couldt pass for that way idk why i think the game has a lot of bugs bc is very soon
This still wakes the deep game like black mesa than half life
What's wrong with ending? Isn't there a continuation? because I think the ending is hanging
Nope. The story ends on a sad (emotional) note, with Caz igniting the biomass at the source but dying in the process.
@@mrjtfang2 yeah, i know
What a truly remarkable game, we're 30 minutes in and not a single weapon or killing! Not sure how China expects to sell a computer game in the west without constant gun executions. But this has definitely got that Half-Life Far Cry vibe. A masterpiece. 🍾 🎉
Artistcaleb would have LOVED this game 😿
The ending... 💔
1:31:29 The developers put this kind of mechanic into the game and then screw up the detailed collisions. I would slap them for that. And it was enough to make them well only in areas where there are monsters
They used new engines 5?
How did you beat this game in 3 and 1/2 hours you had to have rushed it. I'm over 6 hours in and I'm only at your 2 hour mark. Although I have stopped to check out every detail and read every thing possible
I can sense the outside anti-social part of developers here
Great game, but too much swimming I think…
I am avid Windows 7 user got computet to run this game but I don't want to promote the microsoft mysery
Disliked for skipping Scooby :(
Man you suck at throwing things :D
Great game though one of the best ive seen
At like 1:50:20 my game wont let me pass that part
I’m playing on Xbox gamepass. I’m not sure when, but I went to play and only a blank screen would come up. I had to uninstall and reinstall- then it worked fine.
I was hoping at the end he'll survived but i know it's not xD
it's like a mix of resident evil and evil within
More like silent hill then resident evil.
I only see a survival horror game full of mimirs from gow
The cheap game is very execellent。😇😇
I think the map size and lack of mechanics is the main hindrance to this game. If those had been expanded on I think this would have been amazing.
I don't think much else could've been added, really. It's kind of meant to be like a horror movie with you in the drivers seat.
It's hard to watch.
You pull the stick (camera) too hard. You look somewhere past when a character comments on something specific (for example, Kaz saw a surviving lifeboat).
There are many such moments that ruin the atmosphere of the game. If a character enters a room and says - is anyone there? - and the player has already run to the opposite end of the room, well, that's just BAD for viewing. It is best to go through and act as if it were in reality (the game is very immersive). Moderately smoothly, looking around, not twitching during conversations, etc. It is best to go through some sections several times in advance in order to play through them naturally. In many places in many games, developers make such mini-scenes when the player crawls through the ventilation (or something similar), he can see something (an enemy, a scene, a dialogue, etc.) and here there is also such a thing, but A LOT is simply missed (you were in a hurry or looked in the wrong place).
kinda weird plot. ain't it?
I love the Irish to English translated subtitles.
It's Scottish, not Irish.
Well, I passed this game. Later than others. I can give a rating of no more than 5/10. The plot is incomprehensible and sad. I don't think the game is worth the money.
Story is lame asf no cool plot twists or lore. The only things I liked were the environment and the scottish accent.. story is empty and boring like any other game
@@dyingknightbynightI just beat it and yea I definitely feel like it was missing information but it's not a bad game just alright I give it a 6 with a wait on sale
@@isaacboyyy4271 plus the devs claim that there’s “exploration”. I don’t think they know what the definition of the word exploration is because every door is locked, and there isn’t anything to find or learn about like notes and stuff
It's shocking seeing Chinese Room make such an uninteractive game. Even Dear Esther gives you more agency.
