@@SailingUma Sorry Kika mentioned Sailing in winter @ 3:30. I just got confused, she was talking about conditions. Love the channel, keep up the great work!
Good question. I like when filming dates are posted. Learning what it is like month by month. I guess if there isn’t much difference between amounts of ice and snow from April to July then it wouldn’t matter.
@@gavinferguson Between the time it takes to film and aggregate all the footage and the slog of editing it can take several weeks to make a video as well as doing all the things you'd want to film... and, you're right it does distance oneself from unwanted randoms tracking you down from your videos.
A small observation. Even after years of sailing, and close to a year (at time of video) of short sails in calm waters, Kika took the time to not only remove the fenders from the locker, but TIED them to the cabin top, even if conditions did not warrant that care. That kind of discipline, in the little things, is why you will be safe in your travels.
I watch a few sailing channels and of all of them this one stands out above the rest. You are doing something different in several ways. Your advertisement is so original and interesting. You sail an all electric boat. You sail in locations that are astonishingly beautiful and very different to the ones in other sailing videos. You do those when anyone else would be satisfied with one or the other. I feel that there must be an element of danger in sailing so far north but you take care to anticipate and minimise the risks while you make light of them. And then you bring it all to us in exceptionally interesting, beautiful and well edited videos. Literally wonderful, full of wonder.
I agree. Tired of watching the same boats sail from Florida to the Bahamas and back. Wash, rinse, repeat. Refreshing to see someone setting out into "uncharted" waters. 😂
“The Fellowship Of Sailing Uma”; Fearless, world class sailing in staggeringly beautiful surroundings. The cinematography, editing and soundtrack are perfect! Bravo!
BEST Skillshare commercial ever! You totally pitched their product without pitching their product at all...genius! Side note...I would love to see more skits like that from you two..your channel is one of the best out there.
I know Skillshare sponsors your videos, but honestly, I think they should reach out to you to do one like this for them on a national/global scale. Like to air on TV stations across the world. You're adverts are so awesome, I actually look forward to watching them. When a video you post doesn't have one, I'm a little bummed about it... to be honest. You do an amazing job. Like for realz.
Unbelievable beautiful! Uma's journeys are amazing - thank you for sharing. I live in Johnson City, TN and would never in 100 years get to see the spectacular scenery that you share. Watching this video is like watching National Geographic!!! Truly
Absolutely brilliant editing, especially going into the Skillshare commercial. Bet you two could make substantial extra income editing for other companies, all from Uma. You guys are a genius-level power couple.
Ok. Now you have done it. I'm watching some of the most beautiful videos, with some of the most incredible drone shots and then you anchor and cut to an incredibly fun and entertaining commercial! You guys are awesome!
12:45 - The detail you put into the "advertisements" is amazing. Just using the color combinations of clothing & backdrop (original Kika is black & gray, while the imaginary Kika is blue & purple) to coordinate reality -vs- fantasy is a wonderful touch.
Your videos have become absolute works of art. I’ve watched them all, and your editing and filming skills are amazing. Thank you for sharing your life and travels with us all.
Your videography just get better and better. Thank you so much for sharing parts of your adventures with us. You two are truly living your life to the fullest.
I am genuinely in love with your content. While the sights are beautiful, it is you and Dan who make it just so incredible to watch. Thanks for that. :)
Not many people get to witness the kinds of things you two see, thanks for sharing all of this footage of your voyages. Very well recorded and presented.
I'm watching you guys for years and never commented because my TV doesn't let me. This time switched to my phone just for that. You guys have it all figured out. Watching you live your extraordinary lives is inspiring. Thank you.
The creative way you promote SkillShare is AWESOME! I love it! I also love the beauty of Norway in the winter. It is so dramatic without crowds. It is almost like you have this piece of the world all to yourselves sometimes. I love the solitude and tranquillity! Keep your fantastic journey.
This is some “Hard Core” sailing!! I relate sailing to pleasure not punishment. I highly commend you on your persistence to provide experience and insight into sailing in the Arctic.
The drone shot when Uma goes into the narrow entrance of the Trollfjorden was probably the best picture ever made by "Sailing Uma" crew. And btw. The general impression when I was watching this, was that you are near the place where the Earth ends and if you try to sail any further you will reach the terrains where only dragons, trolls and other strange creatures can live, without being disturbed by humans. And suddenly in this monumental scenery... we can see that... the graffiti makers are everywhere!... ;-)))
Kika once again showing all other youtubers how ads should be done! This is how you make people watch the whole video without skipping the ads. Hillarious! Well done! Also, great video, as expected ❤
Norway is soooo gorgeous! And the videography is spectacular as well. Good job you two, and thanks for sharing. You two are brave for doing high latitude sailing at that time of year!
Started watching this channel last fall as you were pushing ever northward towards Norway's winter. Every week I wondered when you would say that`s enough and do the big 180 towards tropical waters. Slowly the realization that you intended to press on past the arctic circle in winter became apparent. You have accomplished something that few in the cruising world have ever attempted. Today's step drove the fact home that you both are other level hardcore bad-ass water people. Sailing Uma is by far the undisputed # 1 sailing vlog on TH-cam. So much respect and gratitude to you both.. M
Best ad I’ve ever seen and I love to hate ads. Now, can you please do what you did with all ads, all the time, everywhere? That’s not asking for too much, is it now?
Tolkien actually used Norway and its nature as an inspiration when he wrote the Lord of the Rings. He never set foot in New Zealand. Peter Jackson is the only reason why NZ is connected to LOTR.
Your sponsor should give you a raise, that is some of the best commercials on the inter webs. Since you started doing them this way I for 1 have not skipped any of them. Very good and love the idea behind them. You need a pay raise for these.
I love your humor... ie. your alter you. Take a break and enjoy the beauty around you. Feed your inner you.... Love to you both of you. You bring such joy to all of us that follow you. Your cinematography is out of this world. Loving it.
Two of my best channels I watch are ODD life crafting and Sailing YabÀ. Both are in Brazil. The temperatures and humidity there are appalling hot. ODD just got splashed after 2 years on the hard. YabÀ is far from there, being seriously rebuilt. And then there's you two. Facing cold, damp Artic weather. Snow and drizzle. Uma pushing through ice. Uma, a southern designed and built boat, beyond the Artic circle ! 😳 Do you seriously realize what you're living and showing us !? Brave or unconscious you are kids !
Long time viewer, first time commenting. I have seen every episode you have made and was actually pleased when I saw the skillshare sponsorship since I suspected what was coming. But I must say, you surpassed even my lofty expectations. Great job!!! Also watched your NYC interview and it was good to get to know you a little better. You two put together the absolutely highest quality content - keep up the fantastic work. Another beautiful film. You should be on Norway’s payroll for wonderful way you show the country. And you have the best Skillshare commercials on TH-cam.
I just came across your channel a couple days ago and i am addicted. I love that you are sailing in places that you don't see on every channel! Beautiful!!!!!
Visited Norway, from New Jersey US, on vacation skiing with young family in January about 15 years ago. Oppdahl had no snow. Coast mountains had lots. It rained in Bergen. Can't believe what you are doing sailing in the ocean so far north ... But I LOVE SEEING IT ALL!!! THANK YOU!! Very cool end video magic below with your double.
