  • In part two of our visit to PortAventura Park, we secure night rides on Stampida and Shambhala, and ended our night with an unexpected evac....sort of. It was an odd yet satisfying conclusion to our visit to this epic resort!

    In colder weather, some parks will avoid sending an empty train on certain coasters that are more likely to valley! That may be why you guys were evac’d off the brake run of Shambhala rather than the park sending the train in the station empty and unloading you from the station like normal. We used to do something very similar at El Toro in cold weather. Cedar Point will also do the same with Millennium Force on some cold days!

      If you are lucky enough to ride the last train with not enough people to fill it, you may ride an extra time without leaving the train. This hapened to me and a couple of friends last time we visited PortAventura in November. I assume they gently ask you if you want an extra ride because they have no more options, if the train is not fill enough it wont finnish all the track.

    I actually spit out my water laughing when Sarah said “me too.”
    Also, the reason they let you off on the break run is because that’s where they have to park the train at the end of the night. You’ll probably never ever see a park in the US do that though cause in my experience we always run that train empty of with employees who are ok with it.

      Shambhala cannot operate without guests on it on this season, comming from a ride assistant at the park, I do also think in summer neither but I don't remember, but all you said is true

      Would be so funny if Silver Star would dethrone Nitro for her :D

      As someone who loves Nitro, getting the mako experience after already kinda preferring "Goliath" at SF over Georgia took it from being #1, though I do think its underrated. Especially if you hit no trims.

      Nitro is mediocre at best raging bull still holds as my number one hyper

    • @oneandonlysound3453
      @oneandonlysound3453 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@zanewebb2665 lol Raging Bull is kinda cool for being a hyper twister better than the gionovala ones but otherwise it's weak "for a hyper." Other than the drop and that first tunnel and turn and second drop. Like most coasters at SF Great America tbh. Above-average but nothing really truly stands out. Unless GCI totally revamped American Eagle and added titan track and inversions, then it definitely would. Not that some of the clones aren't great nor that anything is actually bad, though doesn't seem like Maxx Force was a good idea, always broken.

      @@oneandonlysound3453 maxx force is so annoying. I’ve been going for three years a couple times a year and I’ve had the worst luck with it and only JUST got to ride it. But I agree sfgam is lacking long rides that’s why raging bull is my favorite

    Lol. Sounds like you had a really good time. I went to Portaventura once back in 2017 and this is a pretty funny story. I went on that one day where Catalonia became independent for like 8 seconds and there were mass protests in Barcelona. So everyone were back in the city either protesting or just watching what happened. The park was completely empty, and we had bought out express passes at the front gate so we had no idea what would happen inside.
    We had already heard the park gets super crowded but on that one day the park was DEAD! Shambhala was a walk on almost the whole day, same goes for Red Force, and Furious Baco! It was all quite insane really and something I know I'd never be able to recreate even if I wanted to.

    Shambhala is a back row ride, especially for the airtimes.
    But yeah it's running slower lately, even in the Summer...
    Should have gotten the Express Premium pass tbh, worth the money. And it's pretty much medatory for a coaster fan going to PAv imo.

    Friends with an op of shambhala. It’s easier for them to evac the last train on the transfer track than send the next train. Quicker to get that train moved into storage and then leave the last train in the station. Rlly cool tbh

    10:43 If you do ever make it to Finland and Linnanmäki, they're open at least 11-22 and on special weekends till midnight (in the autumn), so that's one of the exceptions to early closing euro parks. So night rides galore, that is unless you go in early to mid summer in which case the sun's gonna be up still.

    I actually know why they only ran the red side on Stampida; when I was there I rode the blue side, and the lap bars continued to get stuck in place multiple times when I was in line and actually while I was on the ride. Can’t say I would ride again though, I got jackhammered pretty bad in the front row

    Please RMC Stampida, so much potential! It’s a meh CCI for me, it’s rough and it’s got some dead spots where it’s crawling. The double down is painfullllllllll

    @maartenkruijff4293 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    The park looks good and the rides are good, but ow my god do they run it bad!!! Compare that to for instance Europa park🤔. They will deliberately run fewer trains to upsell the express passes. And that is a fact known in the European coaster community. Shame, shame. Glad you guys had a good time though!

    • @lSoulan45

    I assume "Europe" doesn't include the UK? Or do you have Alton and Thorpe way lower than the other three parks on the continent?

    • @AdamHickman78
      @AdamHickman78 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      For me Alton and Thorpe don't cut it amongst Europe's best. Alton is OK but at best a B tier park, although I would rate it a C tier.

    • @CoasterStudios
      @CoasterStudios  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I enjoy both of those parks, but I still stand by what I said there at the end as far as the 3 must do's. The only one I would add to it as a 4th option is Energylandia. After that probably Alton Towers. (not saying these are the best parks, just the best for roller coasters)

    I don't have to ride Shambhala to know it is better than Nitro. Nitro is my least favorite B&M hyper and I've ridden it over 200 times. Airtime isn't very strong even if you get a lot of room and while the helix is the best part because you get to black out, the ride is kinda boring. It dropped several spots in my rankings over the years.

    • @zanewebb2665
      @zanewebb2665 2 ปีที่แล้ว
