The Game Boy Advance was great for playing a whole slew of Pokemon games like Ruby and Emerald, but the handheld console could do a lot more than just provide advanced gaming. Learn some of the crazy ways the original console and the upgraded SP console were used over the years and how it could still be used today.
The backlit screen and advanced graphics made the GBA an ideal console for watching television and a tuned TV could be connected directly to the device. On old Game Boys, multiplayer action required a long cable, but now, players could connect wirelessly thanks to a special Game Boy Advance adapter. GBA accessory packs allowed you to completely transform your device with magnified screens, special joysticks and all types of themes. Multiple companies discovered ways to transform the Game Boy Advance into a working GPS device although the releases never went fully mainstream. Watching content on the GBA became easier thanks to a special adapter which allowed you to play both movies and audio files. Really take in the sounds of your favorite games with the use of add-on speakers that would make it look like a small surround sound system for your handheld console. One of the more unique releases for the GameBoy Advance was the E-Reader. A card reading system used to unlock extras and gain full access to games. Some medical devices with working screens on them actually relied on the Game Boy Advance hardware to get running and help save lives. TheGamer it wasn't a function of the gameboy advance, per se, but there was a gameboy advance game called "Boktai The Sun Is In Your Hands" that had a light sensor on the cartridge, that uses the light to charge your solar gun, and too much could overheat it.

I kind of feel like the TV tuner is legit. It connects just like a GBA cartridge does and has its own built-in programming just like cartridges do. I have a Sega Game Gear and I use it mainly for the TV tuner lol

ok first of its called headphone jack, second off, THE GBA SP does not have one, meaning that you most likely connect the speakers through the AC adapter or the part where you link other Game boy advances
The GBA could *never* do any of this. It was the add on's that made it possible.

and the device would not do anything without the coding, so in reality, it all depends on the code.

Well technically you could probably play Super Mario Odyssey with the GBA screen using the T.V tuner video input featured in the video along with a docked switch and some kind of hdmi to composite video converter.

This channel...sheesh. So full of inaccuracies and misleading statements. I like your videos but I cringe every time you say something stupid. Mostly I watch from my Xbox One YT app, so don't bother to come comment later. But claiming that the GBA was used for medical purposes? Really? All they did was remove the LCD screen to use AS AN LCD SCREEN. That's like saying the Atari Jaguar is used in the dental profession just because the mold for its shell was sold to a dental supply company that used it for a wall mounted device to hang instruments from. SMH

I've got the GBA Movie Player, and it's also great for playing NES/Famicom games.
I'm really surprised about the medical device.
1. Navigate around town? that is an interesting add-on to the gba.
2. Heart measuring device, looks like engineers found a low cost way of making the heart measuring device.
3. Tv tuner and the other things are also interesting including the wireless piece and the ereader.

I'm a huge fan of the weight distribution of the sp models. Not very aerodynamic, but the compact design makes it fit nicely in my hand. It's pretty tough too. 😃
I remember smashing it into my wall cause pokémon froze while i tried to catch kyogre.... It still works tho. Still playing emerald.

i used to have an oscilloscope on a GB color. (used for hobby electronics) was much cheaper and more portable than an actual o-scope. but not as much functionality. worked for what i needed

I've still got my GBA & GBA-SP, I also have an E-Reader too....I also have a few of the wireless adapters too for Pokemon Fire Red/Leaf Green/Sapphire/Ruby.
I remember trading modded game sharked lvl 99 Pokemon and pokeballs in like 5th grade with that wireless adapter those were the days. Thanks for uploading
You can connect it with the switch by plugging in the GameCube controller adapter to the USB port on the dock because you can connect it with the GameCube with the game boy advance cable too on the controller port

I still have my e-Reader and about 50 cards, including the ultra-rare Eon Ticket. I keep them in cards sleeves, which can pass through the e-Reader and protects them from wear.

The Gameboy Advance SP can actually change color pallets but only for Gameboy Games like Tetris. Heres how and what happens!
Left is Blue
Up is Red
Right is Green
Down is Yellow
Holding B and Down makes the Gameboy text Black and the screen Gold in coloration
Holding B and Left makes the Gameboy text Black and the screen Gray in coloration or in this case, its like playing on an emulator with just black and white.
Holding B and Right totally inverts the color pallet, making White background colors Black for example, making Red become Blue, so to speak.
Holding B and Up makes the screen text brown, Sepia if you will
Holding A and Up makes everything red, as if the entire game was coated in Ketchup or for horror lovers, BLOOD
holding A and Left makes everything Blue as if the moon was shining on it
Holding A and Right makes the Gamebox text Blue but the screen Green, as seen with Golf on Gameboy for example
And finally, Holding A and down only makes it have a slightly more vibrant normal Gameboy color pallete as this seems to brighten it a bit

Awesome I learned just how good the Gameboy really is
There was also a mp3 recorder for the GBA wich allowed you to record audio tracks from external sources such as a cd player etc,,, to your gba,
There was also the gba mini camera wich allowed you to shoot 26 fotos on your gba.
There was also a gba telephone wich allowed you to make phone calls with your friends using this phone adaptor and you could even see them if they owned one too.
There was also a gba network adaptor wich allowed you to play games onlines including mariokart super cirquit.
Am haven’t talked about the gba av adaptor sothat you could hookup your dvd player or whatever to your gba.
THERE WAS EVEN A GBA BANANA ADAPTER THAT MADE YOUR GBA INTO AN EDIBLE BANANA!!!!!!!!!!!!
