Ranking Batman returns over Batman 89 is pretty wild. Jack Nicholson gave the 2nd greatest performance as the Joker of all time. Heath Ledger was actually nervous about taking the role because he was the follow up to Jack Nicholson
Under the Red Hood is my personal favorite but I'm unaware of how the community feels about it. Commenting this before it is ranked but I'm hoping for at least a B. Ayyyyyyyyyyy peak lets gooooo
a lot people don't get the plot of the movie but now that Snyder verse is back people will finally realise its actually great people never read into is religious themes. Id say you need to understand theology to get it.
The Batman is a good, hell even great film. But I think it’s already overrated. The technical masterclass the film puts on overshadows the average plot, characters, writing and below average pacing imo. Like ofc the cinematography, score, and sound design are peak but the other aspects of the film were just ok to me. Def a good film and a upper level cbm but for me personally not the masterpiece everyone’s claiming it to be
The writing average? the writing was solid 8 but 'average' nah,the ending where Batman lights the flare and brings people to the light is amazing visual storytelling,i think you've to go and watch it again.
@@RedLaneArts 8/10? Really? Watched it twice, It’s basically a lesser version of the plot from se7en 😂 don’t get me wrong I loved the film, the cinematography, direction, score, sound editing, how they portrayed Batman & overall production design of Gotham are all top tier. But the writing/narrative was just average. The plot wasn’t anything that intriguing or out of this world tbh. It also wasn’t greatly paced and there were def a few odd choices. For example, when Bruce “finds out” abt his father, on so many levels that could’ve been so much more of an effective & captivating moment. They were building up to this mystery and this revelation that was supposed to turn our heads upside down & reevaluate how we look at & view Gotham, Bruce, and the riddler. It would’ve been such a pivotal revelation for Bruce and would’ve been amazing to see him struggle w/ it, deal with the consequences/effects of his fathers actions on the city of Gotham and himself, and watch him grow from it, instead it’s up-ended in the next scene with Alfred saying “actually ur father isn’t bad it’s all a misunderstanding and a lie” all bc they wanted to have an emotional moment between Bruce & Alfred (which I think was bit rushed/forced imo). like at least let Bruce and the audience sit with that for a moment before going back on it in almost the very next scene, it’s almost like that scene was added just to have Bruce and Alfred have an emotional beat in the film. Also the catwoman/Bruce romance was rushed and made no sense. Selina literally lost her significant other and was deeply distraught & angry about it, but the very next second was kissing all on Bruce 😂. They even flirted w/ eachother earlier in the film when she was supposedly really upset abt her gf being missing 💀. Like imo it would’ve been better if they just kept it at a slight flirtation and just strongly indicated their future for the sequel instead of trying to shoe horn into this one. And again the mystery/narrative was underwhelming, it was something we knew from the beginning, we already knew the people in Gotham were corrupt 😂. it would’ve been intriguing to see them go the Thomas Wayne route, but they went a route that wasn’t all that captivating or jaw dropping lol. And u don’t necessarily have to always subvert expectations, but the entire structure & idea behind this story is that it’s a detective/mystery, yet the climax they built up to wasn’t at all mind blowing or intriguing. Also again this is imo, but a films writing is supposed to elicit strong emotions from the audience esp at crucial points in the story, however for me the only real emotional beats I felt was when Bruce first locked eyes w/ the kid who just lost his dad in the very beginning and also when the bat mobile rev’d up. Besides that, the Bruce/Alfred scene, the catwoman/falcone scene, even the ending monologue they were good scenes but they didn’t elicit the strong emotions from me which is what they intended to do. The climax was also just ok, the entire 3rd act took a huge step down imo & went from showing to telling which was odd bc the first 2 acts were very good in terms showing rather than telling the audience.
The dark knight goes crazy, it’s villains are amazing (specifically talking about Harvey because I found him more entertaining than joker in that movie), the action is cool, the music is phenomenal, and the acting/casting is wonderful…..but it’s not that comic book to me, this movie was a little too realistic of a Batman movie to me but I also think that’s why I like it as well. Also it’s Gotham is kind of light the criminals feel like mpc’s for Batman to take down and the danger never is there.
I really enjoyed The Batman movie, I even watched it two times because of the whole Noir Aesthetic and the Detective stuff, but there was three, well two for me, things that really took me and like almost the entire theatre audience out of the immersion of the story were 1. The whole romance between Batman and Catwoman was not really convincing in the least, you can literally feel people rolling their eyes anytime batman or Catwoman was gonna kiss or if they even remotely try to be romantic, hell it was so damn predictable we made a game out of who can guess this cliche moment. 2. The second thing which is more of a personal gripe for me, is whenever the Riddler gets loud or is like literally screaming. it made me want to get up and backhand a Bish-like dude STFU with yo loud ass before I climb into the movie and put you out of your misery. 3. Batmans' plot armor, bro this man was supposed to die like two times in the film the first being the explosion to the face and chest point-blank, I had no problems of him surviving that, but come on, my guy was sent flying the dude was literally without a single scratch or some form of injury after that, the second being another damn explosion that sent him flying again this time hitting his head pretty f*cking hard against a bridge and was freaking tumbling meters away and he just shrugs that shit off. so yeah that's about all my gripes with the movie, it's good hell it has the most comic accurate live-action Batman I've seen especially a young batman, but it's not really a masterclass batman movie to me.
1. I did feel their romance to be a bit rushed but considering the amount of times they helped each other, Catwoman being the flirty type and the fact that the scenes they shared have always been....kinda hot, it made sense. Batman and Catwoman are also an iconic duo so either way, their romance is definitely gonna be predictable. 2. Hey, it's Paul Dano for ya 3. This is true (if you consider his bulletproof armor to be plot armor). When the bomb exploded in the funeral, I was so confused why his face was still clean as hell. Like I know he covered his face and all that but it shouldn't have been THAT clean. Also I'm fine with him hitting his face onto a bridge and surviving. He has bulletproof armor so this shouldn't be too unbelievable and he looked like he was very much in pain. Same thing happened in TDK but was much worse in TDK when Batman jumps off the rooftop with Rachel and slams onto a car with no signs of pain from both Bruce and Rachel which is incredibly weird.
some dude spit in his hand and gave me a fever before my daycare was gonna watch it. Ironic right? I was cold. I remember this vividly, I never watched it.

I really hated Damian I mean the disrespect was real In every movie he was in it's like they us to love Damian no matter what but all it did is make us hate him even more
I think the Killing Joke is mid, HOWEVER I hate people who say that its bad purely because of “bat sex”. It’s literally all the extra bat girl stuff that diluted the movie. Saying that that was the only reason the movie sucked when everything after is panel to screen one of the best comic to ever have been made? You gotta be kidding. Its just all the bat girl stuff before it that makes it bad

Ranking Batman returns over Batman 89 is pretty wild. Jack Nicholson gave the 2nd greatest performance as the Joker of all time. Heath Ledger was actually nervous about taking the role because he was the follow up to Jack Nicholson
Damn surprised that The Long Halloween part 1 and 2 are not up there
Under the Red Hood is my personal favorite but I'm unaware of how the community feels about it. Commenting this before it is ranked but I'm hoping for at least a B.
Ayyyyyyyyyyy peak lets gooooo
When he was trashing BvS i felt my heart crack 😢
a lot people don't get the plot of the movie but now that Snyder verse is back people will finally realise its actually great people never read into is religious themes. Id say you need to understand theology to get it.
It’s alright, his opinion is in the extreme minority. Ultimate edition is incredible.
Batman&Robin is the 1 buck carboard box wine that keeps on giving.
Two words: nipple armor
The Batman is better than The Dark Knight.
I want all the smoke.
@@mum-your Its okay Raj, calm down. Nolan wont see you here in the comments section to thrust his rod in you.
You nailed your critique of The Batman. I had the exact same thoughts. There was no character development at all.
So glad you said lego batman is peak!!! Hella underrated comic book movie and honestly top 3 batman movies period!!
But I loved Batman Begins 😭😂
I really enjoyed The Batman movie, I even watched it two times because of the whole Noir Aesthetic and the Detective stuff, but there was three, well two for me, things that really took me and like almost the entire theatre audience out of the immersion of the story were
2. Hey, it's Paul Dano for ya
The Batman in B tier is a clown take
And elitist take that why I don’t watch Wes no more his opinion is A$$
MOTP has the single best scene in all of Batman, when he puts on the cowl for the first time is the shit.
Batman Year one, the dark knight returns part's 1&2, The Dark Knight, under the red hood, and I'm gonna say it BVS are peak movies.
Idc I prefer the batman over the dark knight
Frfr
Same. Best batman movie ever
Finally The Lego Batman movie gets some love 😭 when I was in Middle School that was literally one of my Favorite movies
Batman Returns = Super Underrated
hey wesside i know this is unrelated to the video but what type of hair routine do you do ?
I use shea moisture products
some dude spit in his hand and gave me a fever before my daycare was gonna watch it. Ironic right? I was cold. I remember this vividly, I never watched it.
Batman Gotham Knight felt like a bunch of anime directors flexing how rad it would be if they got to make a feature length batman animated movie with some real budget followed by WB going "naaaaah nevermind.".
“I watched 3 hours of a good movie not a great movie”
THANK YOU. I saw the movie twice and i did not care for the story (edit cause I contradicted something)
If you didn’t care for the characters why did you see it twice
anthony cheesman - tbf I’ve watched some movies twice to see if I was missing something or to see if I’ll feel different.. did it with NWH - enjoyed it the first time - semi disliked it the second.
@@Anthonycheesman33 cause my sister wanted to see it and i thought “maybe if i saw it a second time i would understand it more”
Better than overrated Nolan movies.
For the longest time i didnt know the dark knight was a 2 parter because i bought the ultimate version and i played the whole thing on one disc as one complete movie
Any Batman animated movie with Mark Hamill Joker feels like it's always gonna be good
Brrruuuuhhhhhhh, most of these takes are turbo doodoo water. But I'll accept it for now cuz lego batman is goated af
Batman begins and the Batman 2022 version are probably the biggest hottakes
Hey man, haven’t gotten to the movie tier list yet but great message at the beginning 💪
Batman’s list of women
-Selena Kyle(Catwoman)
-Talia Al Ghul
-Zantanna
-Wonder Woman
Batman has A-tier supermodel/literal god like levels of women wanting his D and he goes with Batgirl!!!! Yep it really was that fucking weird.
If the dark knight part 1 and 2 were together it would be tied with dark knight
I agree
Batman vs. Dracula scared the FUCK out of me as a kid
Should’ve had Justice League Dark 1 on here. Technically it isn’t a Batman film but he was in it and it was one of the best animated dc films of all time no question!!!
Damn wes that BvS hurt me to the core😤
Hold up Batman the killing joke was really good, but yeah that Batgirl part was just woeful
Just checking in to make sure The Dark Knight is #1
I remember reading the comic of the dark knight returns that was the first batman comic I read and the movie did it justice. The art was amazing
I rewatched dark knight last night and it’s still fucking peak fiction material.
I wasn't tight until you put Batman Forever above Begins 😂😂
Okay, I deadass breathed a sigh of relief when you said Return of the Joker was A tier.
The new Batman is not B it’s S tier n Paterson was the best Batman live movie we got my opinion that movie was a 9/10 only thing wrong was it was 3 hours but a lot of people gave it a 10/10
The Dark Knight is the Joker 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 Much Praise!!!
Damn i loved Son of Batman. Damian is so sick and i’d have to go back to the Deathstroke disrespect. However, Damian in the DCAU is written to be overpowered and has been consistent in that universe with their portrayal of him.
WesSideLive's laugh is better than mark hamil's joker laugh
Damien went from one of my least likable dc characters to one of my favorites tbh. Took a minute but he grew on me. I know alot won't agree with it but oh well
Batman and Mr. Freeze sub zero is A tier I don’t care what no one says. Also, I’m not taking that disrespect Mr. Freeze’s character.
Batman begins is amazing its slow and it doesn't have alot of action but the dialog in the movie is amazing and the first hour of building up to get to batman is top tier u have to be a bit mature to appreciate it
We may have different views on stuff, but I can at least say with FULL confidence
You’re at least fair and honest with this stuff
Batman The Long Halloween has to be at least A tier, both movies imo
Wes is nuts, Batman 1989 is Peak Fiction easily!
It's cool tho...
