  • A hike on the Herriot Way in the Yorkshire Dales with Simon AKA walking_daze.
Day 3 of 4 was another 14-mile low-level route following the River Swale through the beautiful Swaledale.
Having spent the night at Rukin's Campsite in Keld we were up fairly early ready for the cafe to open for a cuppa and a bacon cob. Picking up a homemade (delicious too I might add) sausage roll for lunch we were soon on our way to the pretty Kisdon Force.
I have to say I think Swaledale may just be the prettiest place in England in my opinion.
The drystone walls, patchwork fields and stone cow barns nestled in this green valley are like walking through a painting.
Calling in at Gunnerside and the Kings Arms for a cold pint was much needed as it had been so intensely hot and humid. Rather than continue to follow the C2C low-route we continued to follow the Swale to Reeth.
Arriving at Reeth at about 4.15 gave me the chance to nip in the shop and grab a few much-needed supplies (although it turns out our destination YHA Grinton Lodge offered food but having done my resupply sadly declined).
The Black Bull offered some much needed respite and rest as well as the chance of another pint. But eventually it was time to climb the hill to out final destination of the day YHA Grinton Lodge.
YHA Grinton Lodge is exceptional, friendly and helpful staff, amazing showers, comfortable lounges and a well-appointed kitchen made for a great stay.
Be warned though, the Midge is still present and will quite happily leave you its mark as a reminder!
    Filmed on a GoPro 9 & DJI Mini 3.
    Edited in Wondershare Filmora 13.
    Music from Epidemic Sounds.

Awesome dude. Swaledale is without doubt one of the most scenic valleys in the UK. I'm lucky to have it on my doorstep. Great to see the aerial drone shots, gives you a whole new perspective 👍🏻
